D’Souza discounts the fact that “The radical Muslims are against modernity and science and democracy” and goes on to say:
The traditional Muslims are our best bet. Besides, they’re not asking us to live like them. They’re asking us not to attack their religion, which conservatives do with depressing regularity. They’re asking us not to force secularism and separation of church and state on their society, another foolish cause to which some conservatives subscribe.
Here D’Souza misses an absolutely crucial point.
The “War on Terror” is in a sense the struggle of a post-Enlightenment West against a medievalist Islam. But in the Islamic world, the “traditionalists” and even “moderates” are just as medievalist as the extremists in some ways. Pushing for the victory of secularism and separation of church and state in Islamic society, which D’Souza waves away as a foolish habit of ours, is indeed one of the keys to the entire struggle.

D’Souza is 100% right. I’m glad someone finally said it. And its not conservatives attacking Islam that is the problem so much as the same extreme post-modern anti-family marxist feminazis that have shitted up America so badly, that is mobilizing the Muslim world. His point is that the 19 hijackers were pissed about the same thing that US conservatives are, i.e. that Hollywood is producing torture porn and normalizing satanic values, that the same kind of “womyn’s rights” BS that has so effectively destroyed Western culture is being aggressively exported to them. The US conservative’s error (more so Bush’s (might as well be hillary the way he’s conducted things)) has been to make the post 9/11 military actions about spreading womyn’s rights.

Karl Lembke said,
I’ll grant that both [Christian] conservatives and the 9/11 hijackers voiced objections to the same parts of U.S. culture. However, it should be noted only one of the two groups flew airplanes into skyscrapers to make their point.
And if U.S. conservatives of any stripe responded to insults and defamation the way Muslims do, half of the people in “The Industry” would be dead, and the other half under armed guard.
The point I was making was, it doesn’t matter how respectful you are toward Muslims as a rule. If you do one thing they find offensive, you’re instantly a Muslim Basher.
