According to court documents, Cooperwood was wanted on misdemeanor warrants for resisting arrest, fleeing and failing to pay child support, when he crossed paths with the officer. Cooperwood was on his bicycle, but got off the bike. The officer knew Cooperwood was likely to flee so he grabbed Cooperwood by the shoulder and they struggled. The officer hit Cooperwood with a baton and Cooperwood grabbed the baton. The judge said that when Cooperwood turned to flee, the officer shot him.

    Accountability, good.

How come when an employee of a private busness ‘violates’ the civil rights of another emplyeee, (by simply saying something, not shooting, that the person is mearly ‘offended’ by) the business owners have to pay and not the employee and often in the tens of millions?
