Texas Mayor Changes Mind About Banning The Word “Nigger”

By Robert Paul Reyes

The word “nigger” is the most inflammatory word in the English language. For a non-black person to utter the word “nigger” in a public place is as dangerous as throwing a Molotov cocktail.

Ken Corley, mayor of Brazoria, Texas, proposed an ordinance slapping anyone who used the N-word in public with a $500 fine.

Using that vile racial epithet is immoral, inflammatory and incendiary, but it should not be illegal. Americans have a constitutional right to utter racial profanities.

The mayor withdrew his proposal after the citizens of Brazoria expressed their vehement opposition.

From United Press International:

“‘Now y’all have spoken overwhelmingly against this ordinance and I think that this evening you will hear the last of it,’ Corley said.

Even if the mayor had not withdrawn the proposal, KHOU-TV reported, it likely would have been struck down by the courts under the First Amendment’s free speech guarantee.”

If the ordinance had passed the Brazoria jail would have been full, not with rednecks, but with African-Americans. It’s mostly blacks who have no respect for themselves and no sense of history, who use that vile word when addressing each other.

I’m glad the mayor withdrew his unconstitutional and idiotic proposal. It’s not the words of racists, but their hearts that need changing.

Matthew 15:19

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, false witness…

actually the $500 fine would generate tremendous revenue for the county.

Unfortunately it would nearly all be on the backs of Americans of African descent.

I think that day is coming, the word “black” will be known as the “B-word”. I very rarely see anyone in the news media use it in reference to blacks,er “African-Americans”. What a curious term that is, most black Americans haven’t even been to the continent of Africa, don’t speak any of the languages and Africans don’t even consider black Americans “African”.

If a day came where someone complained about calling African-Americans “black”, I would tell them they can’t call me “white”, they have to call me “European-American”, lol.

Yep, the fines would be directed at the only people who are allowed to use this word, black people themselves (oops, am I, as a white person, allowed to say the word “black” or does it have to be “African-American”?). Then we would be hearing cries of “racism” about that. Then, of course, all the other “Victim Groups of America” i.e. Homosexuals, Women, Hispanics, Asians, Muslims,American Indians, The Transgendered, The Deaf, The Dumb, The Blind, The One-Legged etc,etc would all show up with their laundry list of words to be outlawed.

Um, perhaps to you. “Liar” is fightin’ words ’round here. “Cunt” is generally reserved until it’s REALLY pertainant.

Third time in a week I have agreed with you. Will wonders never cease.

KVolz said, I notice you have been using a lot of Bible verses lately.

Which is really strange, considering he claims to be an atheist (excuse me, a “freethinker”). Robert, I really hope you are coming to realize the universe is too perfect to be the result of trillions of fortuitous accidents (any single one of which, if it had happened differently, would have made life impossible). Besides, a belief in God really does bring peace of mind, and clears away the confusion of everyday life.

Robert, I agree with you. The word is bad, but it should not be against he law to say it! If they started a law like that, you never know what other laws they would try to pass, limiting our free speech.

I notice you have been using a lot of Bible verses lately.

Short, to the point and well put Robert. It’s a proposed law that would have made sense in 1963, but with, as you said, the N-word being used fluently today by the grandchildren of the folks that marched to Washington with MLK, it’s just plain stupid.

I would be happy, however, if the mayor passed an ordinance against anything hip-hop, and made graffiti a shooting offense.
