The word “nigger” is the most inflammatory word in the English language. For a non-black person to utter the word “nigger” in a public place is as dangerous as throwing a Molotov cocktail.
Ken Corley, mayor of Brazoria, Texas, proposed an ordinance slapping anyone who used the N-word in public with a $500 fine.
Using that vile racial epithet is immoral, inflammatory and incendiary, but it should not be illegal. Americans have a constitutional right to utter racial profanities.
The mayor withdrew his proposal after the citizens of Brazoria expressed their vehement opposition.

“‘Now y’all have spoken overwhelmingly against this ordinance and I think that this evening you will hear the last of it,’ Corley said.
Even if the mayor had not withdrawn the proposal, KHOU-TV reported, it likely would have been struck down by the courts under the First Amendment’s free speech guarantee.”
If the ordinance had passed the Brazoria jail would have been full, not with rednecks, but with African-Americans. It’s mostly blacks who have no respect for themselves and no sense of history, who use that vile word when addressing each other.
I’m glad the mayor withdrew his unconstitutional and idiotic proposal. It’s not the words of racists, but their hearts that need changing.
