C'mon. Let's give it a try, with this proviso. Begin with congress. Kerry and Clinton have already demonstrated the technique: "I voted for it before I voted against it." Such even-handed, circumspect dialogue would be prescribed on every issue.

SD Good description of a difficult to understand fairness doctrine, and the old liars in the media. I think the future danger for news organizations is that, the products of our relativist education system are people who are entirely lacking in historical perspective, incapable of distinguishing right vs. left, important vs. petty, right vs. wrong, us vs. them. The only thing that matters is they look hot, or be cute, and make their point persuasively, in a nice way that does not offend or provoke anyone. They only understand, their little subjective explanation, which has never been challenged.

Why? Because Mendacity is the Mode of the Moment.(Hey, that's snappy!) Every journalist school pays lip service to Truth but they use 30 y/o roneo copies of Pravda guidelines as handouts to students.

Lies sell copy. Lies, distortions sell ad space. It would be a sorry state of affairs if the copy that accompanied, surrounded, advanced the honey-toned lies of the advertising should differ too much.

Lies save having to find and tell the truth. Just repeat what someone seen as powerful tells you. The Politician, the Editor, the Publisher.

Crikey, we should be thankful for the niaive like Steven Guess who appears now courtesy of MND. He is honest about the legend on his coat of arms.
