Fox News Should Apologize To Barack Obama For “Madrassah Story”

Media critics, pundits, outraged Democrats and concerned citizens have long argued that Fox News is the semi-official propaganda arm of the Bush Administration. Conservatives argue that liberals are just jealous, because Fox News is the most popular cable news outlet.

But now Fox News has done something so egregious that they should change their motto to: We distort, you decide.

Insight, an insignificant publication, reported that as a youngster, Barack Obama, attended a madrassah. Fox News ran with the story; the media giant was more than eager to derail the presidential ambitions of Obama.

The evocative word “madrassah” conjures up images of a young Obama mindlessly reciting verses from the Koran and pledging jihad against the United States.

Obama is an avowed Christian and the story about him attending a madrassah is patently false. The school in question, was not a madrassah, but a learning institution that accepts students of all faiths.

The apologists for Fox News should be ashamed for propping up such a biased media organization. If you want “fair and balanced” news, turn on CNN or MSNBC.

    They knew people were dying yet, their version of the news was more important that the truth!
    I have been and worked in Indonesia and you can bet on it, it is Muslim, teaches Muslim and hates Western civilization.

    When you work in a country as an average Joe, you find the truth, reporters always find convenient lies to portray, especially when they are as biased as CNN.
    Obama not doubt learned about Muslim ways and teachings, the Christian churches were tightly controlled and very restricted.

    You all forget, when he was a kid, Indonesia was not progressive. The CNN reporters talked to folks that probably were not even alive then and even if they were, it would be their death to say anything negative about their “holy” religion!

    This is also bias bashing Fox and liberal business as usual by CNN.

    Robert said the Washington Post was “beyond reproach”, so of course the “Huffington” crap is too. I didn’t point out to him (at the time) that the term is “above reproach”. Beyond reproach would mean even worse than reproach. But it won’t matter to him. Only conservatives truly have Freudian slips, right?

    P.S. I noticed Maureen Dowd’s (hardcover) book “Bushworld” on the $1.98 table. Stacks of them. Couldn’t help but laugh.

    “As News Hounds reports, the hosts at Fox & Friends issued a non-apology, apology for repeating the false claim that Barack Obama attended a madrassah or Muslim religious school as a child. As I pointed out in “The Swiftboating Begins – The Right Smears Obama”, Fox relied on an article in INSIGHT magazine citing unnamed sources that Obama went to a madrassah:

    But Monday morning, “Fox and Friends” distanced themselves from the story. Co-host Brian Kilmeade noted that the Obama campaign “wanted to correct the record” and insisted that Obama had never attended a radical Islam school. Kilmeade added that the Clinton campaign also called and insisted they had no one researching Obama’s background.

    “There was a firestorm created over that so we just want to say that’s the story. The Obama camp was upset so we hope they’re not now,” he said.

    Then co-host Gretchen Carlson pleaded with Obama to come on the show because Fox News will be the “home” for all the information on candidates in the 2008 election. “So come back, Senator Obama,” she said.

    Then co-host Steve Doocy added that, “We’re just being fair. His camp said the ‘Insight Magazine’ article [was] wrong. We’re just putting that out there.”

    Fox news is not particularly conservative (except when compared to CnnNbcAbc et al). What they are is completely American, without reservation. This completely flummoxes the typical drive-by media.

    You will never hear anyone on Fox say “the Americans did” whatever. They say “WE did” whatever.

    As for Hannity, I heard him talking about how the reporters were wrong to go with the “madrassa” story (by the way, HE never said it was true). The only time he even mentioned it was to say it was wrong to run a story without better fact-checking.

    He talked about the reporters lowering themselves to liberal standards (which is a very bad thing, Robert). If YOU could live up to Hannity’s standards you would have to admit that Joe Biden is a “macacca-style” racist. But you can’t, and you won’t.

    A small point here for those that need the obvious stated: Hussein’s daddy was a muslim and certainly he was raised with much influence from the Islamos. Because Obamo says he is now a Christian certainly does not make it so. Any fool knows B.O. is not going to admit he is muslim. He is hoping the masses will delete his past in favor of his image-makers’ wishes to paint him with the brush of Christianity.

    My style is minimalist and blunt; if I wanted to address the issue of race I would spell it out in black and white terms. (no pun intended)

    I know that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, but I think that 9 out of 10 guys would agree that Fox News has the hottest female reporters/news personalities.

    By comparison, the female anchors at CNN look like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi.

    Maybe FOx News ratings are so high because of the awesome eye candy, and not becasue they are “fair and balanced.”
