“I oppose the war but I support the troops.” I have been thinking this pattern is familiar, all through the Iraq war. I finally made the connection to the source of their inspiration for this statement. “God hates the sin but loves the sinner.” “God wants us to hate the sin but love the sinner.” This is a modern theological error, that is not biblical, and has permeated the churches. I can endlessly prove from the whole bible God hates both, and wants us to hate both, the sin and the sinner. They can’t be separated. Neither can the troops be separated from their mission or their Commander in Chief. The truth is all the hippies who say this, really hate both the war and the troops.

Right.
