Men Have Less Germs Than Women

Men are sloppy and grungy and women are clean and sparkling — or so the stereotype goes.

But male construction workers erecting an office complex are less likely to pass around germs than women gossiping at the water cooler.

From ABC News:

“A new study from the University of Arizona says that women’s offices have 3½ times more germs than men’s.

On “Good Morning America,” Dr. Charles Gerba — aka “the Germ Guru” — explained why women’s offices tended to have more germs than men’s.

‘Women’s offices tend to be dirtier than men’s for the following reasons. First, they tend to use hand lotion more often, which gets on surfaces and traps germs. Then, they tend to be around children more often then men, and we all know how easily kids transmit germs. And finally they use makeup, which tends to absorb germs. Then it rubs off the face or gets scattered by brushes and sponges,” he said.’”

Kids are nothing but germ incubators; I give them a wide berth. Maybe that’s why I haven’t caught a cold or a flu in almost a decade.

I have never understood why women have such an affinity for lotion. I don’t like any foreign substances on my hands; that includes dirt, motor oil, gunk and lotion. Some ladies leave smudges of lotion on everything they touch; it’s disgusting.

Makeup absorbs germs; how disgusting is that? That sexy blue mascara your girlfriend is sporting, might just be a thriving culture of Mad Cow disease.

But guys don’t care if a woman has more germs than a science laboratory, if she’s cute they will still want to hook up with her.

“Britney Spears, I’m so happy the prize for winning this reality show is a date with you. Oh, so you are going to name your next baby Chlamydia, because you’ve caught it so many times? How charming, now please lead me to your bedroom.”

The alternative to lotion is dry skin. Although I only put a small amount on, and it absorbs into my skin quickly, so it isn’t greasy and damp.

I am not around kids, so I don’t have colds very often :)

Very interesting article. I am glad you explained WHY woman have more germs than men!

It dovetails with the fact that cats are filthier than dogs…cat allergies can be from all the saliva left after the licking of the hair, and dogs usually just have good old dirt on them, and we know God made dirt and dirt dont hurt.
