Father Greeley is “one of America’s most beloved storytellers,” according to his websiteand “One of the most influential Catholic thinkers and writers of our time,” according to his publisher. This concerns me. Why? Because Father Greeley is promoting his new book Jesus: A Meditation on His Stories and His Relationships With Womenby calling Jesus a radical feminist.

Father Greeley Interview
[/coolplayer]
The way I see it, either the Father is beingcontroversial to sell more books, or he has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about.
He’s a man of God; he’s not supposed to hurt people to sell books, is he? So he must not know that radical feministsare misandrists. I know he wasn’t there when they lied about fathers to my legislators in 2005, defeating California’s shared parenting bill.
I do have to wonder, though, how a”priest, sociologist, author and journalist”who’s “built an international assemblage of devout fans over a career that spans five decades” could be so naiive, so ignorant.
I’ll be contacting the Father to ask for clarity on his position. Maybe you should too. Perhapsa public apology to all fathersis in order.
After seeing this, I could lose even more faith in organized religion. But I’m reminded of this inspirational, progressive and enlightened message from Archbishop Celestino Migliore on March 8, 2007:
“The ideas on the equality of rights between men and women have been marked by an antagonistic approach which exalts opposition between them. This approach juxtaposes woman against man and vice versa, while the identity and role of one is emphasized with the aim of merely diminishing that of the other. Success in the quest for equality and the empowerment of women can best be achieved when such antagonism gives way to mutual respect and recognition of the identity and the role of one towards the other.”

”Priest, sociologist, author and journalist” , Well, let us accept that two of these, Author/Journalist, are/can be neutral descriptors, we are left with Priest and Sociologist, niether of which are uncontaminated by bias. That ‘Priest’ might carry a generally benign bias, ‘Sociologist’ doesn’t.
There have been more ‘whacky’ theories and interpretations from sociologists than even a self respecting conman would care to use. Psychologists, even with Fraud amongst their number are the epitome of careful considerers of evidence in comparison. The old joke - whats the difference between psychology and sociology? Psychology is structured common sense; sociology is structured bullshit.
Sociologists are the ’shamans’ of public policy. Many of their theories are downright lies and deliberate distortions rather than misinterpretations (Margaret Mead anyone?) and many have caused tremendous damage - the ‘blank slate’. Sociologists are the arch-enemy of education. They never learn. They invent an idea and go out and prove it. They take the opposite stance to Sherlock Holmes who told Watson, his trusty sidekick and heroin supplier, ‘It is a Capital error my dear Watson, to make the facts fit the theory rather than the theory fit the facts’.
Priestly sociologists are an oxymoron.

Well put, Ms Stoddard. The snake oil salesman is busted. Jesus, would not and did not support neg-fems insanity. It shows more and more that good people, not just men, must get together on such issues like Shared Parenting…..Sam
