FATHERS 4 JUSTICE ANNOUNCE ‘BRIDGE ACROSS AMERICA’
International campaign group Fathers 4 Justice (F4J) today announced plans for its first major US initiative to take place in 2008.
The project called ‘Bridge Across America‘ will see a hand picked group of fathers and children take part in a sponsored ‘crossing’ to raise money for young offenders from fatherless families. The unusual road trip will cross the country from the East coast to the West Cost using a unique form of travel and wearing a ‘Pythonesque’ theme.
F4J say the crossing will be preceded this year by a series of high profile stunts in the United States as part of its awareness drive.
The group say that Founder Matt O’Connor will unveil details of the trip when he attends a fathers
conference in Washington this July with UK activist Jolly Stanesby.
Said O’Connor, “This initiative is designed to do two things. Firstly to unite the fathers movement in the United Sates under a broad coalition. Secondly the aim to is unite fathers and their children using the country as a metaphorical bridge. Fathers 4 Justice is famous for climbing them. Now we need to bridge the social divide in America to make equal parenting a reality.”
Fathers 4 Justice say that it is currently looking at sponsorship of the project.
Anybody who wishes to apply to become a volunteer for the trip should apply with their full Curriculum Vitae and family case history to office@fathers-4-justice.org with the email marked ‘BRIDGE ACROSS AMERICA‘.
Applicants should allow for a total of 3 months away for the trip as well as time off for a training course and media training.

It is also interesting that I believe I heard he is married to the ex-wife of Michael Hutchins of INXS and she had their child where he had no access before he committed suicide.
