We pled our rights under the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 14th, and 24th Amendments. We pled our right to not be targeted by bills of attainder and ex post facto laws. We pled our right under the 14th Amendment to equal protection of state constitutions that prohibit imprisonment for debt. We pled the Antipeonage Act, slavery for debt is illegal. We tried the 1st Amendment, telling our story to an indifferent public. What Amendment does that leave? John Longnecker says:
