What will happen is that the deep pockets are the state and that is who will pay the freight once again. That being the taxpayers of course, not Nifong who's been given enough time to hide or transfer his assets if he was smart. He'll continue to be given a pass from the popular media. The lawyers will vociferously claim that a wrist slap is good punishment enough for one of their own and that this whole imbroglio is not really business as usual, one of exploitive paid advocacy/antagonism, and not of objective justice... Men are dragged from their homes and thrown in prisons across the country on false allegations. The mere fact that they are men makes them guilty. How could a man get a fair trial in todays courts when the jury is subject to so much misandry in popular culture? A man today could get about as much of a fair trial as a Jew could in 1939 Nazi Germany. The entire situation with the Duke Lacrosse players, and Mike Nifong in particular reveals how our justice system is broken.
