Of Corzine, Seatbelt Laws, and Imus

2007-04-13
By

Rumors that New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine was not wearing a seatbelt during last night’s crash that left him critically injured have been confirmed.

Today’s NY Times originally reported that Col. Joseph R. Fuentes, superintendent of the NJ State Police said last night that (my emphasis):

“he was unsure whether Mr. Corzine was wearing a seatbelt; he often does not”

But a more recent NY Daily News piece reports that a spokesman for the Governor now says that it “didn’t appear” he was wearing a seatbelt.

As NJ Law clearly mandates all frontseat occupants of passenger vehicles to be restrained, it would follow that Corzine’s injuries would have been much less severe had the highest level executive of the state been following the laws of that same state. Are you listening, kids?

Thankfully, although he was sitting in the passenger seat, he’s expected to make a full recovery after completing extensive rehab.

Ironically, at the time of the accident, the governor — a member of the not-too-exclusive club of Imus show guest alumni who were “shocked” by his recent words — was en route to his mansion to “attend” the Imus-Rutgers peace-pipe pow-wow.

Based on the comments he made last night, one can’t help wondering just how long the state’s highest ranking police official may have been laughing along with the Governor’s improvident behavior.

“No one is alive today that ever experience slavery and few people of colour, yeah its a misnomer, we all have colour, under the age of fifty have ever even remotely experienced discrimination.”
You didn’t actually expect that to get a casual free pass did you?

Two point first why was the GOV involved in an accident? Could it be Karma, ie you do wrong, no matter how pretty and politically correct, in God’s Universe you will pay for it. The GOV was going to the IMUS roast, a regular white guy who by exercising his first amendment rights hurt the feelings of some of societies ” Sacred Cows” Translation it is wrong to persecute someone and harm their lives, because somebody claimed their feeling were hurt. I belong to three groups who don’t seem to have any rights, father, men and noncustodial parents. If all I had to worry about was my feeling being hurt , then I would have no problems. I am too concerned about keeping the racket that is the family courts and child support system from putting me out in the street. I have no sympathy for whiners and demanders.
No one is alive today that ever experience slavery and few people of colour, yeah its a misnomer, we all have colour, under the age of fifty have ever even remotely experienced discrimination.
The second point is that The Gov and others of his kind , have the belief that they are above the law and they don’t have to abide by the will of the people. That the constitution is meaningless and sooner or later it will be done away with. Well Gov , the constitution is very much alive and if you keep thumbing yours noses at it , then there will be hell to pay.
