There’s even one that has what looks kind of like Chinese characters in it.

I’ve actually seen demonstration in the iRobis laboratories. This “genetic programming” stuff actually has a longer history, that goes back some decades in the study of machine learning. It because a distinct area of study in its own right, and got its name, due to the work of a Stanford researcher; John Koza.

Lead scientist at iRobis, Peter Nordin showed up quite enthusiastically at the first international workshop on the subject and focused his life’s work on it. Not surprising that he’s responsible for some important progress – and this isn’t really the first time.
