If you support violent responses to criticism of Islam, please leave.
If you support terrorism in any way, shape or form, please leave.

Message of Peace

Sorry for giving you shelter and help.
Sorry for giving you an education.
Sorry for helping you financially.
Sorry for allowing you to freely follow your faith in our Judeo/Christian land.
Sorry for sending aid to your countries.
Sorry for not demanding blood revenge for the murders on our fellow countrymen, committed by muslims.
Sorry for not running around with explosives on our bodies, when we feel offended( by you muslims ).
Sorry for us not simply doing things your faith demands.
But an apology for uttering an opinion in our own country within our own laws, - that you will never get!!!

Sincerely,

I don’t agree. I’m still not 100% sure what a Muslim really ‘believes’, but given Islam’s status as a religion with a billion adherents, I am not willing to co-sign a general letter to “Muslims in America” that apologizes for “helping” any adherent of that religion in America.

    Not to spoil the party.

as far as Jihadists go–perhaps you will take some comfort in a recent discovery I have made in researching the Koran. It states that if a Muslim kills an Infidel he will be rewarded in Heaven with 72 Virginians-NOT virgins. Think the movie “Deliverance”. These bastards have a big surprise coming in heaven.

Sorry Denis. When you think Virginians, you should think George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, George Mason and not the inbred hillbilly crowd portrayed in Deliverance. You may have to go back and watch that Robin Williams routine one more time.

There is an overabundance of Virginians that did so very much for the formation and liberty of this nation.

    Now, 72 Virgils …

This morning someone sent me an email pointing out the obvious: if someone had written the above about “Jews in America” it would qualify as hate speech.

    Let’s try it:

    Sorry for helping you financially.
Sorry for allowing you to freely follow your faith in our Muslim land.
Sorry for sending aid to Israel.
Sorry for not demanding blood revenge for the murders on our friends, committed by jews.
Sorry for not running around with explosives on our bodies, when we feel offended( by you jews ).
Sorry for us not simply doing things your faith demands.

Now, you can argue that “Jews” don’t blow people up because of their faith, and that the simple replacement of “Jews” for “Muslims” is therefore a nonsequitur. Fair enough, but by the same token being a “Muslim” is not the same as being a mad bomber.

Thus with this article we have fallen under the sword of logical fallacy, to whit:

In notation of First-order logic, the this type of fallacy can be expressed as (∃x∈S:φ(x))→ (∀x∈S:φ(x)), meaning “if there exists any x in the set S so that a property φ is true for x, then for all x in S the property φ must be true.”

    Premise A particular thing A is a B
    Premise A is also a C
Conclusion Therefore, all Cs are Bs

To clarify the fallacy, let’s look at it in context:

Premise: A man of Arab decent is a bomber.
Premise: This Arab man is also a Muslim
Conclusion: Therefore, all Muslims are bombers.

You can look up the Association Fallacy yourself here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_fallacy

So let’s beg the question: Is this article hate speech? I would argue that it is.

What’s your point? I don’t mean to question your overstated explanation of the logical fallacy, indeed I took Philosophy 101…Fundamentals of Logic as an elective and remember it fairly well even while openly making fallacious agruments myself. But, hate speech? Do you mean hateful speech or do you imply speech of the actionable kind, depending on where one resides on the planet.

More importantly, we’ve heard the expression “not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslim”. I realize including the word “all” has its risks, but since Rogue Jew stated “Dear Muslims……IF…and so forth” he is not catagorizing the whole set, but speaking directly to the subset to which his affirmations apply…in which case he is not fallacious in the first place…which begs the question then, can a truth be hate speech?

    Open Mind video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tGxNojQ_sY]

This video at least has something to redeem it: it is specific in picking its side in its context.

RJ’s article above does not advance the cause of education or provide any context for these generalized slurs against those who call themselves adherents to Islam. It is strictly a partisan rah-rah post.

This is my opinion. I am expressing it openly for the author and public to read. I am not asking the author to withdraw the piece. I am simply offering up my dissent, for what it’s worth.

I mean no insult to the author or to the readers who cheered him. I am simply expressing my general opposition to the piece and its apparent intent.

Mike, I didn’t take insult for the author or to those who agreed. And now that you said it, I agree I didn’t see any redeeming value either….puff, feel good, whatever you want to call it, cheerleading, I don’t know.

I think the intent is mere venting…pressure relief, pop-off valve stuff, thats all, and maybe it works a little. Notice I didn’t feel the need to comment until I asked what your point was. In fact, not holding your position allows me to say that I used to read RJ’s stuff largely for its chuckle value in how strong he came on, but I’ve gotten to where I skip him, and wish he’d put more content, something compelling in.

Denis, I know it was a joke. I even know that Robin Williams did the joke. I further know that he used Virginians, but he he said something on the line of “Hey, Tom, George come here. Let’s show that mad bomber what Virginians have in store form them.” Then he said, “Or maybe it was 72 Virgils.” And that was the reference to Deliverance which happened in Tennessee (I believe), thought the river they used for filming was in Georgia.

I thought that maybe you joke needed a little help with context.

I did’nt know your original Robin Williams comment was serious as I never saw him do this routine. Anyways, no ill will intended. I live in Massachusetts but am not native here. Home of John Adams, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, Thoreau, Emerson, and many many more great people. Also home to the not so great Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Margaret Marshall. Also, the only state to legalize gay marriage and to aggressively promote homosexuality in public schools (kindergarten, middle, highschool). I am probably one of the biggest critics of what MA has turned into. So to everyone, I encourage you to verbally (or in writing) attack MA anytime. I’m off topic so I’ll quit here.

On the original topic, I don’t find that the RJ is making hate speech. Let’s try what they tried before, but slightly different:
    Dear ??? In America,
If you do not like my country, please leave.

But an apology for uttering an opinion in our own country within our own laws, - that you will never get!!!

What exactly is wrong with the sentiment? Is ist bad not to bend over backwards (or otherwise) to appease those that would abuse you?

That’s not hate speech. BTW: Hate speech is a euphamism used to limit what you can and cannot say. Bye-bye Amendment #1.

No where does he say all “Muslims go home” or anything like that at all. Just says “Please leave” to those that would abuse us.

Of course, perhaps he should have been nicer to Armanijihad… right.

Lurk - no one likes to be stereotyped. In your case, you seem to think there’s a difference between Virginia and Tennessee, but to someone at a distance, Deliverance could have taken place anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line.

The image of the German Gestapo villian in the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark was successful in associating evil with Nazism, but it also attributed an unforgettable archetypal character to German men in general. (Actually, Spielberg was only echoing - with singular effect - the portrayal of Germans in American cinema going back to Conrad Veidt of Casablanca, Gert Fröbe in Goldfinger, Laurence Olivier in The Marathon Man, and of course Major Wolfgang Hochstetter of Hogan’s Hereos.)

Stereotypes are replete in our historical media, and continue to this day. (Even reverse stereotypes - like the crusty-but-honest African-American Chief of Police - is a deliberate attempt to contrive a fictional social context for black men in American life.) I expect to see it, and I don’t blanch when it happens. But stereotyping can be taken to extremes. (Eg., here’s a link to some Warner Bros. “racist” cartoons.)

The “If” dependency you cited is a significant point, and goes a long way toward ameliorating the general offensiveness of the piece. And I grant your point that this technical clause forecloses the ‘hate speech’ label.

Nevertheless, in its context and in its intention I found “The Islam Commentaries” to be bereft of redeeming substance.

This is an important point for me personally because I do not want to become the very thing I detest.

Mike, I appreciate your point. But I have to wonder if the average citizen of, say, France or Britain who is fearful of their future and basically under seige in their own country might possibly disagree with you.

Perhaps things might begin to take on a diffrent shade once sharia law is adopted there as offical government policy as it almost certainly will at some future point in time.

One additional point. Mentally remove TRJ’s off-the-chart style graphics from the article and it doesn’t quite have the shock effect. Just a thought.

Please people, I agree with Mikes “redeeming value” comment, but lets not legitimize the ridiculous concept of “hate speech”, thats halfway down the slippery slope men towards utter state control and no more freedom of speech. Distasteful speech is distasteful, and I agree with a public unwritten standard…kind of like divorce used to carry a stigma guys, remember that? When good men adopt the language of the fems, and to my mond the term “hate speech” is definately fem talk, we seriously need to stop complaining about our fate.

I quite often take up a small cudgel to Mike, mostly over small cosmological matters and in the spirit of sparring and clarity. So again. “Now, you can argue that “Jews” don’t blow people up because of their faith, …”

Tell that to the owners of the King David Hotel and its occupants. The Jewish Terrorist El Primo becane their Prime Minister. What a lesson for the Palestinians and their Arab mates.

Mr Rogue does go too far, nevertheless. He is free to put the ‘IF’ in to make a dodgy syllogism but that was confined to the first diatribe. What a weasel. The second was simply meanness. Is he really sorry for offering such things of goodness, or simply disappointed that they weren’t appreciated?

As for ‘hate-speech’. What a weasel word-coupling. The cartoon has a solid provenence too. Nazi posters about jews, with exaggerated noses, spring to mind.

There may well be a difference between VA and TN. Looking at the map, inotice that the locations are different and so are the shapes. I bet they even have different people, but I did not mention the people, nor would I. I have known a number of self-titled ridge runners. Great guys. I mentioned where I thought the movie took place. I’m pretty sure that it took place in the Appalachian Mountains and as I mentioned, (though typed poorly) Jeff Foxworthy’s comments placed it somewhat south of VA.

But I do understand you statement about prejudice against people from south of the Mason-dixon line. I’m a RED neck living in the land of sky BLUE waters and I do hear it all the time from people that aren’t even aware that they are making prejudicial statements.

However, I must continue to fight the PC and point out once again that TRJ did not make prejudicial statements. It is the PC thought police that don’t like folks to say things like “If you don’t like my news source, please don’t visit.” Or “I’m sorry that I have tried to gather informationof a bipartisan nature and share it with you.” … “largley because you don’t appreciate what I’m do for you for free.”

What is really at stake here is the “Muslim” word. However, TRJ didn’t say “Muslim go home”. That would have been prejudicial. What he said was “If you came here to change my world through imposing your world upon me, PLEASE leave.” What TRJ did apologize for was helping those Muslims (but not all Muslims) that fit into the previously identified mold in the first half; The group that was demanding we accomdate them. Much the same as the other M is invading and demanding that we give them all of our hard earned rights without and requirements on them. That is an ungrateful lot and if my children behaved in that manner, I’d certainly shut down any assistance I give them until they learned that Liberty is to be earned.

So yea, it’s harsh. And it is a line in the sand. But until we stand up and say “America Love it or Leave it!”, we’ll just be allowing people to come in and take it apart one piece at a time.

Sometimes standing up for one’s own rights will offend others. Fortunately, that only occurs a little over 99% of the time.

“Give me liberty or give me death.”
    “Don’t tread on me.”
    “Live free or die.”
