I heard an interesting interview with Criss Angel (pictured during a CBS performance), the famous magician/illusionist, on the radio in Los Angeles the other day. Angel is the creator and director of the Criss Angel Mindfreak television series on A&E Network. He is a five-time winner of the Magician of the Year award and has performed/appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Ellen DeGeneres show, and many others.

During the interview Angel gave credit for much of his success to his father, who he said was his inspiration. He described his father’s battle against cancer, how he lived far longer than the 3 weeks the doctors told him he had left because he wanted to see his grandchild born, and how he died in Angel’s arms. Angel said it was his father who gave him his work ethic and taught him that he could succeed in this difficult profession.

His Wikipedia biography can be found here.
