Beware the Trojan Pig

The Irony of Evolution

The well-deserved demise this week of former district attorney Michael Nifong, who almost ruined the lives of three innocent Duke University lacrosse players, gave new hope to American men. Postpone the celebration, guys. The maker of Trojan condoms just launched a new campaign, called “evolve,” that portrays men, literally, as pigs.

While Fox and CBS refuse to air the “men are pigs” commercial, ABC, NBC, and nine cable networks are on board with it. Everyone responsible for conceiving, writing, producing, storyboarding, and greenlighting this trash — designed by Kaplan Thaler Group — should be ashamed of himself.

“The humor in the advertising spots is our way of getting consumers’ attention and opening up a serious conversation about sexually healthy lifestyles,” said Linda Kaplan Thaler, CEO and chief creative officer. “Some people may be initially surprised by the imagery, but we’re really using the pigs as a metaphor for selfish behavior to call to attention a very important subject.”

“A change in behavior takes a change in attitude,” said Dr. Drew Pinsky, board-certified physician and host of the nationally syndicated radio program Loveline. “The Evolve campaign effectively argues that condoms are a positive symbol of respect for ourselves and our partners as well as a critical component of sexual health and enjoyment—and that not using condoms can bring a dangerous outcome to an otherwise special connection.”

“Evolve is a wake-up call to change attitudes about using condoms and, on a larger scale, the way we think and talk about sexual health in this country,” said Jim Daniels, vice president of marketing for TROJAN®. “Other than abstinence, the best way people can prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection is to use a condom every time they have sex. Unfortunately, that’s just not happening today—single sexually-active Americans between the ages of 18 and 54 use them only about 25 percent of the time. We urgently need to foster healthier attitudes about sexual health and condom use.”

If these decisionmakers are so concerned with changing the sexual behaviors of Americans, they should be just as willing to run the same commercials with the roles reversed: have the female actors play loose, disease-infested sluts, from whom cleancut men must protect themselves by using condoms. Women always demand equality, right?

Tonight, Bill O’Reilly, host of The O’Reilly Factor, asked PR advisor Peter Shankman whether he deemed the Trojan commercial offensive. Shankman answered: “No. Men are pigs.” I think psychiatrists call that projection. As I have opined many times, misandry exists because of the many self-hating men like Shankman tearing down the rest of us.

Imagine the irony of using “evolve” as the title of a male-degrading campaign. It’s not surprising, when you think about it. This is the same country that gives round-the-clock media coverage of any rich blonde who drives her car while drunk … or emerges from it without panties.

The NoNonsense Bottom Line

Men must rise up to end misandry — by fighting it wherever and whenever it occurs. Here are three suggestions for killing the Trojan pig:

  1. Boycott Trojan condoms
  2. Call and/or email your opinion to Dr. Drew, Linda Kaplan Thaler, and Jim Daniels (609.683.5900 x7311)
  3. Protest against ABC, NBC, and the nine cable networks that air this commercial.

Unless and until men make it clear that they’re not going to tolerate this crap anymore, the advertisers, ad agencies, and TV networks will continue portraying them as worthless and irrelevant. It’s time for a revolution.

    Male Rights Network,

You know little about how advertising is developed and purchased. The CLIENT (in this case, Trojan) is ultimately responsible for every picture presented and every word spoken in a commercial. The ad agency delivers what the CLIENT wants and approves.

It matters not how much you hate women. Linda Kaplan Thaler does not get paid if she doesn’t satisfy the CLIENT.

  • mruffolo

A person (seller) ought to be free to produce anything to sell, yet if the marketplace (buyer) ignore it, a profit or sales motivated seller will begin to offer a different type of produce or service.

I expect both parties, buyer and seller, are culpable. The adulterer is as guilty as the whore.

  • Male Rights Network

I don’t buy this actually, Marc. The woman designed the ad and in charge of the company that produced it. SHE is responsible for it. It came from HER mind and HER “expertise”.

Woman, is, once again to blame for this misandry.

It’s just a financial transaction for the VP of marketing, Jim Daniels, though he is nontheless mangina scum. It is, however, the WORK of the Linda Thaler to devise, oversee and produce the advertisement.

  • scottkirk

marc I believe youre correct when you say that eunech type males are just as much or more to blame for this anti-male hysteria and misandry…

We live in an age where eunech type males need feminism more than women!!!

  • http://thenononsenseman.mensnewsdaily.com Marc H. Rudov

You guys are wrong: a female is NOT behind this misandry, even though she designed it.

The chief decisionmaker and purchaser of this male-bashing trash is a male: Jim Daniels, VP of marketing at Trojan. Linda Kaplan Thaler only delivered what Daniels ordered and paid for.

As I have been telling you for a long time, most misandrists are men.

Just don’t let her twist it into what all the femikooks (ala Amanda Von Crotchrott) are.. Somehow, they seem to think that it is just an add showing men taking “responsibility”.

    Yea right. When pigs fly!

What a surprise it is that it is a female behind this virulently anti-male propaganda campaign: Linda Kaplan Thaler….

Haha… No surprise at all! She is an ugly cow anyhow…

Just goees to show ONCE AGAIN that a WOMAN in any form of POLITICAL or BUSINESS POWER will use that to demean men and to …

The more power you give them, the more this is expressed in clear terms… As in this ad… This arises again and again whether it’s female lawmakers (e.g. Catherine MacKinnon) and Judges, female broadcasters or media executives (e.g. the female-run BBC), female State/child support workers, female businesspeople (e.g. female-run pizza business who printed faces of men who defaulted on their “payments”) or female politicians…. All women are passive feminists, until they get sufficient power and the protection that comes with it; then they become active, visible feminists… So therefore, our fight is not only against feminists but the common female nature in general, and women in general. There comes a stage when we must reach this realisation!

Misandry is deep-rooted in the female psyche… The person you must direct your anger at is that sniviling cunt LINDA THALER

    BCO84,

I’m glad that you support my position. But, if you are stating an opinion, you must make that clear: In my opinion, …..

In fact, O’Reilly said that Fox didn’t run the spot because it supports pregnancy prevention, rather than disease prevention.

  • scottkirk

roger…get a video camera, and show us what youre ad would look like…

  • BCO84

Marc–my piece was an opinion, and it was in agreement with your views.

  • steven deluca

Men ARE pigs the ad man said to OReilly… so sure of himself, having heard it a thousand times and forcing us to hear it again at 1,001 – I would like to slap that weenie.

  • http://thenononsenseman.mensnewsdaily.com Marc H. Rudov

    BCO84,

You have presented no evidence to support your claim that Fox and CBS aren’t running the Trojan commercials because they are offensive to men.

  • BCO84

I came across this article about the events in question, by Yvonne Fulbright and Danielle Cavallucci. I don’t know if I’ve ever read a more misleading article.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/yvonne-fulbright-and-danielle-cavallucci/trojans-rude-wakeup-call_b_53205.html

Fox and CBS have not banned this commercial because of sexual taboos. They have not blocked them because they find condoms to be inappropriate, or because they fear that any reference to sexuality will insult socially conservative viewers.

Nay, Fox and CBS have refused to air this commercial because it is an unequivocal insult to men. This commercial portrays all men as swine, looking to have unprotected sex with the universally innocent, defenseless women. This commercial portrays men as predators. It does, of course, say nothing about womens` role in the same; and, aside from rape, the role of females in cases of unprotected sex is EXACTLY the same in magnitude as that of males.

This commercial is insulting to men. Realize that, and be sensitive to it as people are sensitive to the same when it regards women.

If Trojan’s next ad in this “Evolve” campaign typecasts all women, for example, as interested in having unprotected sex in order to become pregnant and thus gain access to a man’s checkbook for the next 18 years–with, of course, the sole “good” female being the one who uses a condom–then I’ll cease to be opposed to the ad in question. My example above will, I’m sure, sound insulting to women–remember, however, that it’s on exactly the same level as comparing all men to swine.

I am very much in favor of Trojan advertising about the the dangers of unprotected sex. However, to highlight the ad campaign in question as an especially effective way to do so is ludicrous. If Trojan wants to advertise, they may easily do so in a way which is not directly insulting to 48% of the population.

I will debate Lis Wiehl tomorrow (06.22.07) at 4:30PM ET on this topic. Check out http://www.foxnews.com/yourworld/index.html

  • KateM

I am absolutely disgusted by the ad. A filthy pig “Evolve”s into a young Brad Pitt look-a-like because now he is carrying a Trojan! Trojan not only portrays all men as pigs, (even if in disguise), the brand portrays the girl, (she looks about 16, if that), as a slut because now that he has a condom she will clearly do him… and probably in the parking lot. By the way, I called Jim Daniels at Trojan to leave a voicemail stating my position, did you?

  • http://thenononsenseman.mensnewsdaily.com Marc H. Rudov

Sending an e-mail to the Church & Dwight consumer link is a waste of time. Call the number I gave. Ask to speak to Jim Daniels. Jam that switchboard with complaints. THAT will get results. Daniels will NEVER see the e-mails to the consumer link.

  • bigpapa

Thanks Marc, I was looking to email as I don’t like to call much, but guess I can.

  • http://www.ri-ra.org tcc3

You can contact them via their parent company @:

    http://www.churchdwight.com/consumer_info/index.asp?source=WEBCP

You should look at the other brands they represent as well.

  • http://thenononsenseman.mensnewsdaily.com Marc H. Rudov

I’m glad you guys are writing comments on my article. But, if you don’t contact the influencers and decisionmakers mentioned above, you are accomplishing nothing.

  • DcFather

Surely its mostly men who buy condoms, so pandering to females makes little sense, other than the self-hating men like Peter Shankman, who probably can’t get it up anyhow, even with Viagra, which would explain his loathing of men.

So it looks like Linda Kaplan Thaler, CEO and Chief “Creative” Officer, will sink her own advertising agency, and possibly Trojan condoms. Unless, they plan to follow this with other ads as suggested above. Imagine the hypocrisy coming from the feminazis when, after being ok with “men are pigs” ads, next comes ads like:

    - A woman tries to trap a man into bearing children by getting them to skip the condom, then laughs all the way to the bank to cash in the “child support” checks.
    - A woman goes out with her girlfriends and takes on a gang bang, then goes back home and gets in bed with her husband.
    - A woman has intercourse with a dozen men in one day, claims she is pregnant when she isn’t, but gets all 12 of them to fork over the money for an abortion.
    - A woman commits paternity fraud, and the duped dad forks over half of his paychek for 18 years to the fraud perpetrator and the real father.
    - A woman with AIDS picks up one guy after another, then jokes with her girlfriend about how the courts never prosecute women for anything.

Trojan isn’t my brand, never was. But I might reconsider if they followed the “men are pigs” ad with a few “women are lying greedy sluts” ads, epsecially if they take note of the fact that courts no longer care about truth, justice, or children, and its all about penis=perpetrator and vagina=victim nowadays, particularly if you don’t have $3 million you can spare for legal fees to fend off the likes of every Crystal Gail Mangum that comes along.

when men are in charge, the usual motives are profit, growth and sustained quality……which creates growth…….which produces profit…..for the share holders.

when women are in charge, the usual motives are self promotion, funding drives for breast cancer and helping other women take jobs from men, which creates more women to help the breast cancer research drive……which produces more self promotion…….. for the women in charge.

the next time your asked to give to the walk for life, produce the 1800# and mailing address and web site for the foundation for prostate cancer research. tell them you will match dollar for dollar their contibution to your cause on the spot. you will get a look that says you just shot the pope. guarantied brother!

and yes of course i support breast cancer research. wasn’t my point to put one ahead of the other.

    Bigpapa,

In my article, I gave you the phone number of Jim Daniels, Trojan’s VP of marketing. Call him. Trojan is a division of Church & Dwight (Princeton, NJ).

  • bigpapa

apparently I’m too stupid to find the contact address on the trojan site,,,
    anyone have that?
I really feel the need to tell them I’m not a pig and would only use their product to “protect myself”…

  • SM777

I have not seen this commercial. Probably because I don’t watch TV. I download any TV programs worth watching and they don’t have commercials.

Of course, there are always DVD’s.

Who needs TV anyway? For entertainment? Pffffft.

For accurate news from the media establishment? Pffffft.

    For intelligent programming? Pffffft.

F*** TV and the illuminati run TV networks.

Feminist (read: men pigs, women good) Trojan Evolve advertisement.

(Note: if you place the mouse pointer over the picture of pig, it turns into a man)

    http://www.trojanevolve.com

This a consequence of a feminist in a leadership position. Good trees bear good fruit, feminist trees bear feminist fruit.

Print ads will appear in 11 magazines and on seven Web sites. All will highlight a Web site, trojanevolve.com.

Yes. If I Patriarch male had done this…

  • roger

Why not air a commercial that shows a coniving couple of giggling women detailing how they are going to seduce and trap an unsuspecting bachelor?

That would get some attention and “create a metaphor for selfish behavior to call to attention a very important subject.”

I swear – this is what needs to be done!

  • amfortas

It’s time some of these people recieved snail-mail packages with FMJs inside. No threat – of course – just a friendly, helpful note that they might find it useful when the hordes of pissed off men come for them.
