An interesting read on the causes of Islamic extremism and of the consequences of the west’s “War on Terrorism.”:

Maybe Ron Paul was right after all–”they are over here because we are over there.”

Ron Paul, at one time, was someone to believe in. Now he’s just another freaking nutcase.

From the article, we notice the Taliban as a formation at the root, Islamic in nature and by their own definition, pure and correct. The west did not create the Taliban as the west did not create Islam. Perhaps the fervor for Islam wouldn’t exist if the west did not exist, but I don’t think that one will hold water.

From the Taliban, we see the invasion of their form into a neighboring country. Why? Because the west was in Pakistan? Rather than expelling the west, they start closing girls schools. Was it western influence that created them? Maybe. Whether they exist by western influence or not, still the Taliban would have closed them; still the Taliban would seek to prevent the education of women; still the Taliban would seek to subjigate the their neighbors.

It is not the presence of the west that creates the issues. It is the presence of a force that demads the subjigation of one’s neighbors to one’s own desires. As always, it is the need for power that drives the conquest. The Taliban/Islamists seek that power over their neighbors.

Obviously, Ron Paul is devouring the excuses and not examining the evidence, maybe you are too.

Nah! That’s just an excuse. Check the need for conquest after Mohammed’s death. Islam spread like wildfire by the sword.

Even today, Muslims feel that their neighbors will convert by their good examples. And if that doesn’t work, there is still the sword.

And none of that has anything to do with us being there, but more likely to do with them being here.

Right.

Man up.
