Handing off responsibilty

One of the arguments in favor of pulling out of Iraq is that it would force the Iraqi government to take responsibility for its own security.

I’m  curious to know how many who agree with this argument  would  agree with  programs like  privatization of  Social Security, Medicare, Education, and so on.  Wouldn’t withdrawing government support for these programs encourage recipients to take responsibility for themselves?

I dont believe there is anything wrong with a social security net..

The problem lies with all the new feminist pork programs, that no-one is held responseable for.. that is draining all the taxpayers money, and leaveing the real problems without proper funding.

Alot of the feminist pork programs in the social services sector are not about solveing social problems..but the unspoken goal is for more porky type jobs for middle class white women.

Yeah, other than it being abused in precisely the way you describe later, it’s just peachy. Other than social security winding up as a system for the old to rob the young, the public school system dragging educational standards down rather than up, and the welfare system encouraging illegitimacy whatza problem?

Regarding helping the poor: It all depends on the situation and the individual. Some just need training. Others need a kick in the tail end. I just don’t want to lump them all into the same group.

Old people, unless they are crippled, should do at least some work to stay on the system.
