CA. Christian Groups–$2 Million to Bash Gays & Gay Marriage, but Not a Dime to Defend Marriage, Fathers & Parents’ Rights

2007-07-18
By

I’ve often criticized the Christian Right’s policies on marriage. My complaints are:

1) They ignore the true threat to marriage and parents’ rights–the family law system.

2) They do nothing to defend fathers’ rights, which are particularly vulnerable under the current system.

3) They bash gays.

4) They waste an appalling amount of time and effort on trivial issues like gay marriage while ignoring the real threat to marriage–the family law system. I recently wrote:

“Ignorant me, I thought that marriage was under greater threat from the fact that hundreds of thousands of innocent men have been booted out of their homes on restraining orders based on false charges. Or that courts allow children of divorce to be dragged half way across the country so vindictive mothers can exclude their fathers from their lives. Or that stacked domestic violence laws allow men to be jailed and ruined with little evidence. Or that the abusive child support system often traps low income men in a hopeless spiral of debt. Or that family courts are allowing military parents to be permanently removed from their children’s lives while they’re overseas.”

Now Larry Bowler and Randy Thomasson of www.VoteYesMarriage.com are airing anti-gay marriage ads on California radio stations, seeking to raise $2 million to place a “Protect Marriage Initiative” on the 2008 Ballot. Beyond all of the other problems with this, I have a gripe. We in California are working hard to try to defend marriage and parents’ rights, and to promote shared parenting. Given how short we are on funding, we actually do pretty damn well. We could accomplish much, much more with even a small fraction of the $2 million being wasted on fighting the “threat” of gay marriage.

VoteYesMarriage.com Airing California Radio Ads to Place the Voters’ Right to Protect Marriage Initiative on the 2008 Ballot

Former Assemblyman Larry Bowler urges ‘financially blessed’ listeners to make major contribution to campaign to override judges and politicians

SACRAMENTO, July 18 /Christian Newswire/ — The VoteYesMarriage.com coalition, sponsor of The Voters’ Right to Protect Marriage Initiative to permanently and fully protect marriage for one man and one woman in the California State Constitution, is airing radio ads up and down California urging “people of means” to generously donate to the marriage protection campaign. The radio ads come at the same time that the VoteYesMarriage.com initiative has been cleared for signature gathering.

The VoteYesMarriage.com ads are airing on conservative talk, Christian talk, and Christian music stations in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, Monterey County, San Francisco, Sacramento, Modesto, Fresno, and Bakersfield. The 60-second spot features former Assemblyman Larry Bowler of Elk Grove, an official proponent of the initiative.

Americans spend more time and resources creating awareness of the rights of men, who desire have sex with another man, then re-establishing the rights of husbands and fathers who want to train up their children, and provide for a family.

For example, if a man lost his job due to divorce, few Americans – church, media, government, friends, family – care. If a man lost his job because he pleasures himself with another man, most America’s rise to the cause.

America cares for a man’s right to penis, than a man’s right to family.

the gay issues, I also would consider a red herring tactic; while fathers are being more and more marginalized, and societal chaos is the result!!

    Ditto, Mruffalo.

And I am not interested in supporting a group of people who have as one of their primary goals the “deconstruction” of the nuclear family.

One of these days, Glenn, you will have to sit down and realize that most people’s objections to the “Gay Agenda” isn’t the “Gay” part – it’s the “Agenda” part.

Its very unfortunate that the gays have made an alliance with the feminists!!!

Gay bashing? Are we looking at the same ad? I see an ad SUPPORTING marriage (which is an institution between a Man and a Woman. Period). What I don’t see is anything inflammatory about gays. Maybe you presented the wrong image by mistake? :)

For the record, homosexuality is a sexual perversion. Always has been. Always will be. Stating that simple fact is not gay-bashing. If I declare murder to be wrong, am I guilty of murderer-bashing? Tell me where the line is, because, over the last several decades, there has been an enormous investment of resources in attempts to move that line. The $64,000 question is … where will the line stop? What perversion will be elevated to the status of “lifestyle” next? The $1,000,000 question is … WHY are such enormous resources being invested?

Homosexuality is chiefly about sexual pleasure without fear of consequences (what us more family-oriented folk would refer to as children). It’s very nature is anti-family. It places the pleasure-seeking of the individual above all else.

And it is a choice. Anyone with even a mediocre knowledge of biology can see that. If there were a “gay gene”, it could only account for a vanishingy small percentage of the current gay population. How would such a gene “reproduce”? How can the recent decades explosion of the gay population be accounted for by people who, by definition, don’t have offspring?

I do NOT approve of any “bashing” or intolerance. I DO know that the practice of homosexuality is wrong. Hate the sin, not the sinner.

Glenn, I love what you’re doing for the family, and for wronged men everywhere. But I am constantly disappointed that you cannot see the anti-family nature of the gay movement.

    monkeyinthemirror ,
I agree with your statement wholeheartedly. I find fishing a very fine pleasure. Should I declare that a “Lifestyle choice” or “fishing gene”. And be able to claim rights to it? Maybe I can tell my boss ” sorry cant work have to go commit to my “lifestyle choice” Yeah right….I’d be fired the 2nd time I’d try it. While I don’t give a crap what a man does with his tool…don’t put that on me or my society. Men and women make choices…live by them!

Points 1-3, agreed, with the fourth being a repeat.

Too bad your article is only on the third, making it sound so evil. Clearly, the opinion that homosexual marriage–an experiment historically unknown to almost all societies until now–might damage the institution as well as poison the meaning of family is not to be tolerated. Is everything gay so good and bright that it is beyond reproach? Is anything critical of them “bashing?”

Marriage is under attack from courts in the same manner that Europe is under attack from bombs and burning cars. Marriage, masculinity, and femininity are all rotting because the soil of our culture has been sanitized of all understanding of marriage, masculinity, and femininity. Men are now women, women are men, and marriage is but a source of financial gain.

The homosexual mafia has long been at the vanguard of this disintegration because it is a hedonistic, self-loathing, disease-spreading, Christian-hating snake. It wants nothing more than the destruction of marriage, which, Glenn, is not “two people joined at the heart.” It is the brick of society and the vessel of wisdom through which all that makes us a certain culture, society, country, and people is passed along to the succeeding generations. Children need a father to teach them about providing with one’s sweat and defending one’s heart and mind with blood if need be; they need a mother to teach them about selfless devotion to crafting, from a house, a home, a place where one can find rest and solace. Neither two men nor two women comprise the pair.

As said earlier, it is not the gay that is bashed, but the agenda. America loves gays. Why else would “Will and Grace” have been such a hit?

In the end, despite all good intentions, one cannot be pro-family or pro-justice for men and women if one’s understanding of “man” and “woman” is, in fact, a muddle-headed acceptance of protoplasmic equivalence.

The Christian focus on gay marriage is backwards. It is like opposing fetal stem cell research, but not opposing abortion in the first place.

If Christians worked hard to defend heterosexual marriage, heterosexual marriage would be a respected, necessary institution. It would untouchable by feminists who want to take it over to create secular mother-mother marriages that men cannot be a part of. That is the main thrust of the feminist-lesbian movement in the first place.

It has been said many times that if Christians had risen to oppose no-fault divorce, marriage would not be “up for grabs”.

  • jw

Glenn’s right. The Christian right is, in many ways, as bad as the left and the feminists.

Have you ever seen a male positive campaign coming from the Christian right? I have not. Have you ever seen a campaign to help fathers? I have not. Have you ever seen opposition to hatred of males? I have not.

An example of the Agenda portion:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=469200&in_page_id=1770

Churches forced to hire gays in England, even when the practice is against their beliefs.

What’s next? Forced to hire atheists? Have to ordain members of other faiths?

Maybe if gays will stop attacking the Churches, the churches won’t feel the need to fight back.

  • Squiggy

And don’t forget Canada. Don’t even try to teach that homosexuality is against your God’s commandments. You’ll go to jail.

Glenn, you’re backing people who are actively trying to destroy our freedom of religion. And for what? So they aren’t made to feel bad about themselves, ever?

    Good call, Glenn.

Gays are perverted, no bashing just fact. Anyone who supports gays is lower than a snakes belly in a wagon wheel rut.

Though my pastor got a new job 2,000 miles away, I still listen to his sermons on podcast.

I have written him to stop using feminist myths – for example, “woman are abused” and “men are a problem.”

Most sermons to not address hot topics – as churches do not want to divide the assembly – Republicans tithe, like Democrats, and feminists serve with traditionalists.

There is already a homo-neutral bible translations by Oxford Press and Zonder.

How can there be a homo-neutral bible translation? What happens to the parts that proscribe a man’s lying with a man and a woman’s with a woman?
