Radio Ad: If Dad Gives His Little Daughter a Bath and Puts Her to Bed, Call the Cops!
Background: In my recent blog post If You See a Father Holding His Child’s Hand, Call the Cops!, I called attention to the man-bashing Virginia Department of Health poster pictured above. I wrote:
“If dad goes for a walk with his daughter and holds her hand, apparently Virginia Department of Health officials wants you to pick up the phone and destroy his life by reporting him as a possible sexual abuser. I would’ve thought this article about this campaign was from The Onion or some satirical publication, but it’s for real. The picture above of a man holding a child’s hand–a touching little scene–is actually supposed to make us think he’s sexually abusing the child. Unbelievable.”

It would be hard to find anything more shocking and anti-male than the poster above, but one of the Virginia Department of Health’s radio ads might do it. The ad features a woman who calls the sexual abuse hotline and explains her concern–”I work a few nights a week, and those nights my husband bathes Lucy and puts her to bed.” No, I’m not joking–listen to the radio ad here.
A woman should call the authorities because (gasp) on the nights she works, her husband bathes their little daughter and puts her to bed! I guess by that standard, most of us dads should be turned in, including me. (As an aside, one wonders–someone has to give the little girl her bath and put her to bed, if mom isn’t there, who is supposed to do it? Maybe mom is supposed to hire a female babysitter/guard to keep an eye on dad).
Another annoying aspect of the ad is the super “compassionate” female child sexual abuse helpline worker. When she gently, sympathetically says, “Let’s talk about some possible next steps,” what she really means is, “let me gently walk you through the process of destroying your husband’s life.”
The ad does have one truth in it–at one point the mother says, “I’ve known this man for 20 years, I feel horrible even thinking these things.” You got that right, lady.

As I stated before, it reminds me of 1939 Nazi Germany when they were handing out pamphlets stating the hair of the Jew was infectious, and were not allowed to use public toilets.

I go for early morning walks.
After reading this, I went for the walk stomping around and even making angry noises. I suppose any one observing the scene would consider me crazy.
Am I crazy or rather is the world crazy?
I believe it is the second.

This new ad is disgusting! Your ad will cause untold misery through broken homes, divorce, and the resulting crime, drug use, and prostitution; all on the basis of a suspicion! The American father has enough crap to contend with. I’m willing to bet that you and your organizatioon (cartoon organization) are willing to nazi-fy Amerika in your crusade to save at least just one child. Your ad may save a few children, but it will destroy countless others because of the empty headed females out there that have nothing better to do than watch Oprah and soaps all day long; drama queens who can’t think past the next episode of Dr. Phil. Their children will suffer, and they’ll have you to thank, Kommisar! This is the best you can come up with? Don’t quit your day job.

Just as Mike La Salle suspected in a previous MND comment to Glen’s post, Stop It Now! .org receives 20% of its funding from federal grants according to Guide Star, a web information source on non profit organizations.
This is probably funding from the Congress for the Adam Walsh Act 2005? via the Department of Justice. It is Congressional funding Stop It Now.org lobbies for most every fical year as published at their website.
Yeah guys… your tax $$$s to attack you!
Another interesting fact. Stop It Now receives 62% of its funding from donations including ONLINE DONATIONS. Hmmmm…. anoyone up for posting a counter web on these propagandists in their own name? My Space maybe? This could do serious damage to their campaign.

This ad and the father’s day commentary fail to make a basic distinction: between men and biological fathers. I have certainly seen stats that indicate men sexually abuse more than women–but sexual abuse is both the smallest category of abuse and the only one in which men are the the more likely suspect. In all other categories of abuse, mom is the most likely suspect.
But sexual abuse is generally not committed by biological fathers on their own children. It’s usually committed by mom’s boyfriend/new husband/paramour–a man introduced into the family by mom.
All the stats and studies indicate that the safest place for a child is in a home where mom is married to dad. Those same studies show the best protector for a child is the father–it is the very absence of the father that allows sexual abuse to take place.
For Virginia to suggest that natural fathers often sexually abuse their children is both a lie and abets exposing a child to the very environment where they are most likely to be abused–in a home where mom has introduced a strange man.

Sad but true for mothers too. Earlier I read an article when mother had given a son a bath, the dd kised his belly and they tok it to be developed. The developers must notify authorities about suspicious pictures,so they did. After the fther was arrested and spend some time in jail, the case was dropped.
