MLB: Cardinals Beat Brewers in Doubleheader

In Major League Baseball Saturday, the St. Louis Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to edge the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-6.

Ryan Ludwick drove in the game-ending run for the defending World Series champion Cardinals, who came back from a six-run deficit.

St. Louis later beat Milwaukee, 5-2, to complete a doubleheader sweep of the National League Central division-leading Brewers.

The San Francisco Giants scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to edge the Florida Marlins, 4-3.

The Arizona Diamondbacks won their eighth straight game when Conor Jackson drove in the game-ending run in the 10th inning to defeat the Atlanta Braves, 4-3.

The Houston Astros beat the San Diego Padres, 3-1. The Philadelphia Phillies scored eight runs in the fifth inning on the way to downing the Pittsburgh Pirates, 10-5. The Chicago Cubs erased the Cincinnati Reds, 8-1. The Colorado Rockies defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-2. And the New York Mets won the first game of a doubleheader, downing Washington, 3-1, before the Nationals came back to take the late game, 6-5.

In the American League, the Boston Red Sox scored six runs in the 12th inning to get by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 12-6.

The Los Angeles Angels erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Detroit Tigers, 10-3, in a battle of division leaders. The Baltimore Orioles won their sixth straight game, getting by Roger Clemens and the New York Yankees, 7-5. The Seattle Mariners tripped up the Oakland Athletics, 4-3. The Minnesota Twins eked out a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians. The Chicago White Sox shut down the Toronto Blue Jays, 2-0. And the Kansas City Royals downed the Texas Rangers, 6-5.
