American Dog Owners Association Demands NFL Suspend Michael Vick

My two cats and two dogs are a constant source of comfort, entertainment and companionship.

When I come home from work my dogs welcome me with wagging tails, boisterous barks and sloppy licks. My cats on the other hand, rarely acknowledge my homecoming with anything other than a lazy lawn.

Cats can be friendly when the spirit moves them, but dogs are hardwired to shower their owners with love.

Lovers come and go; friends aren’t always there when you need them, but a dog will never turn against an owner who shows him the slightest bit of attention.

To mistreat, torture and kill man’s best friend is barbarism almost beyond comprehension.

The evidence is overwhelming that Michael was the ringleader of a dogfighting club. It’s also alleged that he killed dogs who underperformed by electrocuting them.

Michael Vick is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and a jury has to remain silent until after the verdict is read.

I’m a blogger and a newspaper columnist and I am under no legal, ethical, or moral compulsion to remain quiet. My moral outrage compels me to speak out on this issue.

It’s my opinion that Michael Vick is guilty as sin, and I hope he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I am not alone in my outrage at Vick’s criminal behavior; the American Dog Owners Association is urging the NFL to suspend Michael Vick.

“The American Dog Owners Association (ADOA), formed in 1970 to combat dogfighting, announced today that it is calling for the National Football League (NFL) to suspend Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick in response to his recent indictment by a federal grand jury for allegedly participating in an interstate dogfighting enterprise.

According to the indictment, Michael Vick and three co-defendants were involved in an ongoing animal fighting venture from early 2001 through April 2007. During that time, the defendants allegedly ran a dog fighting enterprise known as “Bad Newz Kennels” operated on the grounds of a Smithfield, Va. property owned by Michael Vick since 200…

The indictment further alleges that each dog fight would continue until the death or surrender of the losing dog. At the end of the fight, the losing dog was often put to death by drowning, hanging, gunshot, electrocution, or slamming.”

Quote from PR.GB.Com

The NFL hands out stiff fines to a football player who takes a  cheap shot at a quarterback. If a lineman speared Vick with his helmet, the Falcons quarterback would demand that the NFL take immediate action.

The NFL should demonstrate that it will not tolerate any of its players cruelly and cowardly torturing and killing defenseless animals, by immediately suspending Vick, without pay, for the whole season.
