But in America, normal things like flu or small illnesses cost a bomb to treat. Added to it is the fact that a drug cannot be obtained without a prescription makes it mandatory to visit a doctor and pay a huge fees to get the treatment(an average general practitioner doctors fees is about 150 dollars here in NJ and when I go through the insurance co, I pay my co pay of 15 dollars and the insurance co pays him about 65 thereby bringing the total to $80). If instead of $150 or even $80, it were something like $25 or $30, things would be a lot better. If the doctors could remove some overheads like 3 girls in their office each being paid $3000 a month to fill the insurance claims and receptionist etc, they can make a pretty decent living even at a charge of $30 per visit. And since 9 of the top 10 paying jobs in America is in the medical field and general practitioners come in that 9, I find it difficult to muster any sympathy for them. And if it were not mandatory to get a prescription to get a drug, quite a lot of people would save a bomb just by self medication for some simple ailments.

Mathematics summer school in Turkey threatened by authorities
The closure of a mathematics summer camp in ?irince, ?zmir, Turkey by Turkish authorities has drawn scorn from scientists around the world.
Professor Alexandre Borovik, who organized some of the opposition, said “We are shocked to learn that the Summer School of Mathematics initiated by Professor Ali Nesin was shut down by local authorities. We found it surprising that such an esteemed mathematician such as Professor Nesin needs a specific permit each time he wants to teach math, as we saw that one of the reasons for shutting the camp down was the lack of such a permit, especially considering how this contradicts the fact that the summer schools organized every year by Professor Nesin are sponsored by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÃœB?TAK), Turkish Mathematics Association and many respected Turkish universities.â€
The school was reopened on 10 August 2007; however, Ali Nesin still faces charges under Turkish criminal code article TCK 263, which reads “Persons who open or run illegal educational institutions can be jailed from 3 months to 1 year.”
Ali Nesin is the son of the famous Turkish humorist Aziz Nesin.
