Hey, rap music is all men’s fault too, white men specifically. Amanda Marcotte tells us that at Feministing, so it must be true.
I’m reading a book called Gender, Development, and Climate Change (Oxfam, 2002), which should really be called Women, Women’s Development, and Climate Change. It is staggeringly sexist, by suggesting for instance, that although men have shorter life expectancies, it is women who have harder lives. Oxfam Press also published Men and Gender Equality (2004), which was so apologetically pro-feminist, it would have made Connell and Kimmel blush.
As the planet gets hotter, I think it will encourage a return to the bad old days of ‘patriarchy’, with the women whoring around, while the men war around. This is why men’s rights activists need to butress the equality gains made by real feminists, before it all caves in, as the temperature rises. Animal species in colder environments evolve faster than in hot ones. All the colder climates are egalitarian (to some extent) – indicating (egalitarian) ‘feminism’ IS more evolved than anti-feminism.
The MOST egalitarian country in the world, Norway, just announced a Men’s Panel, to tackle ‘men’s lack of rights’ – Has YOUR anti-feminist government taken such an interest in men? No.
Speak to Norway about it.
