IMBRA: Anatomy of a Feminist Hoax

2007-09-26

Want a textbook example how the Left manufactures a crisis, passes a law that rolls back Constitutional protections, snookers card-carrying conservatives, and bilks American taxpayers? Look no farther than IMBRA, the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act.

A little background: It’s no secret that conditions in post-socialist Russia are grim. Author Sonya Luehrmann recounts how women desperately search to find a husband “to put one’s personal life in order, to settle down with a stable family.”

And here in the United States, some men find American ladies to be a little too, shall we say, high-maintenance for their tastes.

Before long over 200 match-making services around the world had sprouted up like a clutch of springtime tulips.

A few years ago University of Pittsburgh professor Nicole Constable set out to probe the inner workings of these dating agencies. In her book Romance on a Global Stage, Constable revealed the international match-makers were simply responding to a human need for companionship and love. Many men who marry foreign brides “went to great lengths to ensure their partner’s comfort and happiness in the United States,” she noted.

But feminists are rankled by any hint that their nostrum for female liberation may be curtailing American women’s marriage prospects. Worse, some of these foreign women actually aspire to be mothers and homemakers. Imagine that!

So the Sourpuss Sisters conspired to put the kibosh on the operation. They knew convincing Congress to regulate romance would be a hard sell. So they resorted to their tried and true formula of hackneyed stereotypes, outright demagoguery, and appeals to male chivalry.

It was Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington who quarterbacked the legislative strategy. First she brandished the notion of “mail-order brides,” casting foreign women as victims of predatory males. Then she dubbed international dating services as “marriage brokers,” conjuring up the image of a rogue operation trading lives for dollars.

On July 13, 2004 the Senate Foreign Relations Committee scheduled a hearing to air the issue. No dating services or happily-betrothed foreign women were invited to testify — their comments would not likely fit the script.

During her testimony, Cantwell made the startling claim that match-making services serve as a nefarious front for international human trafficking. She concluded, “there is a growing epidemic of domestic abuse among couples who meet via international marriage brokers.” As proof of that “epidemic,” she highlighted the cases of three abused women.

Cantwell’s depiction of comely maidens being seduced into prostitution rings was more than Sen. Sam Brownback could resist, and before long he signed on as a leading co-sponsor of the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act. With liberals and conservatives now on board, IMBRA’s political star was rising.

But it turns out that Senator Cantwell’s supposition that dating services drag women into a life of sex slavery and indentured servitude was nothing more than a feminist tall-tale.

There was the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service report that revealed, “less than 1 percent of the abuse cases now being brought to the attention of the INS can be attributed to the mail-order bride industry.” [http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=9ba5d0676988d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=2c039c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD]

A second analysis soberly concluded that foreign brides are “dramatically less likely to be involved in domestic violence as calculated by the Intimate Partner Murder Rate.” [www.online-dating-rights.com/forum/index.php?topic=544.0]

And earlier this week the Washington Post reported that early estimates of up to 100,000 human trafficking victims being secreted into the United States each year were grossly exaggerated. Despite more than $150 million of taxpayer dollars diverted to a massive search and rescue effort, it turns out the actual number of trafficking victims is closer to 200 annually. [www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20929223]

But in the politically-correct atmosphere that envelopes Washington these days, agendas count for more than the truth.

So after the gavel fell on the Senate hearing, the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act was bundled into the Violence Against Women Act. That law was signed into law on January 5, 2006. A few days later, Fox News columnist Wendy McElroy castigated the act as branding all American men as “abusers.” [www.ifeminists.net/introduction/editorials/2006/0111.html]

Now, any man who wishes to go through an international dating company must submit to an extensive background check. That’s right, guys, get ready to tell them about your arrests, criminal history, restraining orders, how many times you’ve been married, and even how many children you have. For good measure, don’t forget the sex offender registry check.

So thanks to Senator Cantwell’s artful dissembling and Senator Brownback’s white-horse chivalry, men are presumed to be a threat to foreign women. And Cupid’s arrow now falls under the watchful eyes of green-visored bureaucrats.

American women can proudly wear their newly enforced badge of “I am a strong, independent, feminised female” and surprisingly, no-one wants to know her…

The ever increasing rate of males going overseas to find a female that actually has a soul instead of a calculator and is quite capable of being feminine and taking care of her man is sadly lacking in the land of the “wage slave” and “atm serf”.

When you read comments like this…

“marriages arranged through these services would appear to have a lower divorce rate than the nation as a whole, fully 80 percent of these marriages having lasted over the years for which reports are available.”

One would have to seriously look at alternatives after the 50% divorce rate the locals are determined to keep active plus the thorough finacial rape that ensues for men.

But there are other options….some men are just as happy being free.

  • http://www.antipeonage.0catch.com Roger Knight

Fortunately, most of these “brokerages” are located beyond the reach of American law. American men seeking brides who will not try to take them for everything they got simply get a passport and visit the nations. They marry the ladies there and then bring them here as their birdes.

IMBRA has exactly ZERO effect on these unions. If the American groom discovers that each dollar buys ten dollars worth of stuff (and house) in the Third World nation and there are not as many Muslims as we are finding in the American big cities, he often takes his money and lives in his new nation.

Unfortunately, most men have to go through a divorce before they realize there is a problem that needs to be fixed.

Carey, Sir (doff’s hat) you are far too much the gentleman. Each to his style, says I. But when you say “..was nothing more than a feminist tall-tale”, I would call that a downright lie a fricking LIE!!!, and when you say, “But in the politically-correct atmosphere that envelopes Washington these days, agendas count for more than the truth”, I would have to rephrase it as ‘ But in the hysterical false-speak atmosphere that stinks Washington these days, mendacity, lies, theft of public monies, systemic corruption and men-destruction count more than truth’. In fact most politicians, as evidenced by Senator Cantwell would not recognise Truth if it bit them on the arse.

But, nevertheless, what you say is very worth saying and is probably going to have some better effect than my sheer frustration.

    Have an anger buscuit.

There are now many young women who see the new feminist…as poisin!!

These young women …some are seeing whats happening to their brothers!

….some are asking why that boy they like won’t ask her out!!

Men are now perfectlly justified dating women half their age who steer clear of the feminist hate movement!! And the middle aged women who are the hysteria mouthpieces of hate will be left to rot on the vine!!!

***DATE THE NEW GENERATION OF WOMEN, AND LET THE OLD ROT ON THE VINE!!

  • college activist

Gentleman..I must share the good news!! We need to stop preaching to the choir, and reach out to new readers!! And with that in mind, I’m on my way to campus..yet again!!

In light of the Duke false rape..which most college age men are completelly aware of…I begin by asking if men are fammilliar with that case..then I segway to handing out little business size cards with a few mens activist web sites on them!!

The older generation of males have funded a hate movement that is choking us.
College males are feeling the brunt of anti-male hysteria..and are ready for a new message…

  • Ouderkirk

Roger..It’s not as simple as marrying the woman and bringing her back to the US like a souvenir. The INS will not allow the woman into the country with out a return flight ticket…etc. Then there will be the inevitable scrutiny of the marriage by the state Dept looking for a quid pro quo, and on and on. I have a friend who married such a woman and it took him two years to get her into the US and many thousands of dollars for lawyers and professional other services.

  • http://www.online-dating-rights.com Tristan

Roger, regretably, is incorrect. The long arm of US law will reach all over the world. Because if an American sees a foreigner’s picture on a dating site and does not go through the ridiculous background investigation to be conducted by the dating service and does not give all the personal disclosures to them to give to her BEFORE he communicates with her, then the foreigner will never be given a visa to enter the US. Sure, people can lie about how they met, but not everyone is willing to do so and not everyone will be successful in doing so and it is a felony after all.

At this point in time, DHS has not yet begun to enforce this part of the law. I am in contact with them about this and soon I expect to learn how and when they will enforce this part of the law.

Meanwhile, we at http://www.onlinedatingrights.com are planning a legal challenge to this grossly unconstitutional law and we need a female plaintiff to join us to take down this law who is prepared for the media attention that such a suit will bring. This law is gender neutral so it affects American women, too, in more ways than were described in Carey Roberts’ article.

  • http://www.decriminalizefatherhood.com DcFather

Shouldn’t American laws be concerned with protecting Americans from foreigners, instead of (allegedly) protecting foreigners from Americans?

Is there no law to force Congress to pass laws based on facts instead of fiction?

Who will force government to adhere to The Constitution, instead of allowing the government to force PC on Americans?

  • tonysprout

Yes, it is agenda, not fact, that rules Congress.

  • cybro

Who will force government to adhere to The Constitution, instead of allowing the government to force PC on Americans?

The government is only concerned about the Constitution when it serves it’s interests. When it doesn’t then they don’t care about the Constitution.

Same thing with females. They only care about marriage to the extent that it benifits them. When they have gotten all they can out of it they cash out and file on you.

I have heard this whining about IMBRA before. It is meant as an attack on American men yes but in this case it is actually helping you. You don’t want to bring foreign women here. I have seen what happens.

Once they are here the real agenda kicks in. They have that power they never had before. They become worse monsters than American females.

Do yourselves a favor. If you like these foreign chicks so much. Go live in their country. There is a reason why they are so nice in regards to coming here. They know just as well as their American sisters that once you sign that contract they own you.

  • PolishKnight

There is a reason why they are so nice in regards to coming here. They know just as well as their American sisters that once you sign that contract they own you.

Let’s put this into perspective: Let’s say you moved to a country where it was legal to beat your wife and do all manner of bad things. Would you necessarily do it?

Upbringing has a lot to do with it. If an American man brings back a “trophy” and then seeks to have her integrate into a normal American lifestyle, then assimulation is more likely. BUT… even so, numbers don’t lie: an 80% marital success rate is STAGGERING especially when that includes women go back home for reasons of homesickness.

It’s possible to date these women in the states who have come in recently with their parents. Now that I’m a married into the recent immigrant community, I see many young teenage girls who will make fine wives for American men someday. These women are much better adjusted than their native peers.

  • PolishKnight

Because if an American sees a foreigner’s picture on a dating site and does not go through the ridiculous background investigation to be conducted by the dating service and does not give all the personal disclosures to them to give to her BEFORE he communicates with her, then the foreigner will never be given a visa to enter the US.

I don’t know if that’s the case. But here’s what the form says:

    http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-129F.pdf
“Describe the circumstances under which you met. If you have not personally met each other, explain how the relationship was established. If you met your fiance(e) or spouse though [sic] an international marriage broker, pelase explain those circumstances in Question 19 below. Explain also in detail any reasons you may have for requesting that the requirement that you and your fiance(e) must have met should not apply to you.”
“Did you meet your fiance(e) through the services of an internatioanl marriage broker?
If you answered yes, please rovide the name and any conatct ifnormation you may have (including internet or street address) of the international marriage broker and where the international marriage broker is located. Attach additional sheets of paper if necessary.”

Now the $128K questions is: Would someone who innocently contacted their fiance through a noncompliant “marriage broker” be denied a K1 visa?

I found this URL through a google search:
    http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:aHiQCajPR_gJ:www.visajourney.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t67722.html+impact+international+marriage+imbra&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us

    Bottom line (literally)

“The anecdotal information so far, indicates the only compliance with IMBRA USCIS is enforcing is the new form and criminal records from those who are required to provide them. I’ve seen nothing to indicate any follow-through by Consular officers or USCIS with regard to the actual brokers. This could change.

    1HappyGuyMay 17 2007, 05:27 PM
The original question did not state if the internet agency was domestic or foreign. The USCIS is concerned with enforcing IMBRA as it pertains to applicants. If the applicant did not answer the question properly (at least to the USCIS’s satisfaction, then an RFE could be sent). The main thing here is that the applicant did provide the proper information and was not trying to hide anything.

Some of you have been on VJ long enough to know that the USCIS will issue an RFE for almost any little thing.

    TurboguyMay 17 2007, 11:01 PM
I am not so sure that foreign agencies are not required to comply with the IMBRA laws when the customer is from the USA. I have heard of agencies shutting down because they could not comply.

When the do start enforcing it they can use denial of the visa as the method of enforcement. I have no doubts a few years from now there will be many sad stories here from it but hopefully we will all be ok.”

  • PolishKnight

I have a friend who married such a woman and it took him two years to get her into the US and many thousands of dollars for lawyers and professional other services.

What’s tragically funny is that’s not really much of a horror story. There are millions of decent American men who spend years trying to find a decent woman and spend thousands of dollars on local dating agencies and bars who don’t get better results. In addition, since it’s clear that divorce rates in the states are staggering (and understated since they include the divorce rates of much older, more reliable marriages from the 50′s), the men face thousands of dollars in legal fees and child-support as well.

I met my wife through match.com. That’s right: She had someone translate her ad into English and put it up. There are probably thousands of such ads on the site. Imagine… if local American dating agencies get shut down due to IMBRA…

  • http://www.antipeonage.0catch.com Roger Knight

If you are not using a dating agency, you don’t have to worry about the background check. IMBRA can be challenged, it is obviously unconstitutional, but the problem is the bought off judges and the judges who do not want the “Brian Baird” treatment.

Some American husbands are STAYING in the Third World non-Muslim countries where they find their reasonable and tolerable wives. Each dollar buys ten dollars worth of house and stuff.

The problem with getting rid of Maria Cantwell has to do with the Washington Republicans sellout in 1997. Riding the Limbaugh-Gingrich surge, the GOP actually won a supermajority in the state Legislature. Angry divorced fathers were a big part of the coalition that put them there. Then in the 1997 legislative session these Republicans STABBED US IN THE BACK by voting in the WorkFirst Act, which included the license suspension provisions for child support.

THEY PAID FOR THAT IN EVERY ELECTION SINCE.

In 2006, the weak ass RINO’s nominated RINO Mike McGavick to challeng Senator Cantwell. He PROMISED to go along to get along, claiming his polling data indicated that people were tired of the “bickering” in Congress. He ran around the state with the ultimate RINO, Senator McCain. And when he ran the SAFECO insurance company, he laid off a bunch of people in a “cost cutting” move, rather than try to find enough sales to support the salaries of thse people. Of course, some of that work was sent overseas. We know how popular outsourcing is to Americans! Corporate hatchet men are even less popular than the Metric System.

McGavick lost to Cantwell by 60%-40%.

Our problem is that we have a Repulican Party filled with RINO’s, sellouts, and backstabbers who might practice political taquiyyah during their campaigns to get us angry and conservative voters, and those of us who prefer smller government, and then turn liberal once in office.

More feminist laws from the government falsely justified by academics.

If media, academics, and government spent this same effort toward strengthening family laws, men may again begin to desire American women as wives.

“I will go one step further and differentiate between Western women vs. non-Western women. This is not just an American phenomenon, most women in Western countries have that cold, bitchy, superficial, stuck up attitude. A lot of Western women hold themselves as the pure center of the relationship. If the men don’t fit a rigid and unrealistic criteria or she doesn’t feel the man can take care of her enough (even if she has a higher paying job) then she will drop him like a hot potato, regardless of his character or commitment to the relationship.

Popular Myth: Western men looking for foreign wives are only seeking subservient slaves.

Truth: Most Western men today are evolved and modern and truly believe in the 50/50 system. Most Western men are dismayed by the lack of sincerity of Western women. I can do my own laundry and cooking thank you!

Yes, Latin American and Eastern European women do make better mates because both come from more conservative and family oriented cultures where relationships and commitment are actually revered.”

“Honestly I wish I could have found an American wife with all the qualities of my foreign wife. I could not, because they do not exist. Here is a partial list of her loveliness

1: Sensible and good with money.
    2: Genuine commitment.
    3: Very family oriented.
    4: She enjoys housework.
    5: Hard working.
6: She does not have to diet to look great

Foreign women are comfortable in their femininity. As a male I am attracted to this. And I love her with all my heart.

I believe that American women have priced themselves out of the marketplace. Too needy, too many headgames, too easy to divorce.

Not many foreign men want American wives either.”

Truth: Most Western men today are evolved and modern and truly believe in the 50/50 system. Most Western men are dismayed by the lack of sincerity of Western women. I can do my own laundry and cooking thank you!

And that’s part of the problem: Western men are emotional sissies when it comes to women and believe in this “50/50″ stuff. Foreign women LOVE having their doors held open and men buying them things. The DIFFERENCE is that foreign women use the carrot to get men to do things for them while American women use the stick. But even in these countries westernization is proceeding and some women are getting spoiled.

most women in Western countries have that cold, bitchy, superficial, stuck up attitude.

I found it amazing too when women overseas, even in some of the western countries, were genuinely friendly and treated men like human beings. In the states, women treat men like ATM machines and servants and husbands/boyfriends/fathers like saps meting out affection like a dog trainer to get the men happy just enough to get her way.

I emphasize strongly that these women wouldn’t act like this if the men in their lives weren’t enablers. There is no “nice” feminism. “Foreign” women treat men with respect because of the problems in their country and the women are sensible enough to appreciate good men. The moment they get “equality” and a stable economy, it’s like injecting them with a bitch serum.

It’s all well and good to bash American women, but we owe it to ourselves to understand how the situation happened and what needs to be done to correct it and no repeat the same mistakes in our lives. For starters, as Ross Jeffries put it in his original book, say NO! from time to time. It keeps a dog from shitting on the carpet and it keeps women from shitting on YOU!

  • conservativation

The problem, as Mark explains, exists in all western countries. If you look to westarn Europe for a bride, you are very likely to get double the problems of an American one.

  • PolishKnight

The problem, as Mark explains, exists in all western countries. If you look to westarn Europe for a bride, you are very likely to get double the problems of an American one.

I’ve met sensible, pleasant women even in Western Europe. Generally, they tend to be the country girls.

What’s amazing is that even “red stater” country girls in the states seem to have that “stuck up” attitude of entitlement that American women are getting a reputation for. Typically, their fathers seem to encourage them as “daddy’s little girl” and supporting “equality”. A deadly combination. This goes on even in the baptist churches which are becoming little more than women’s clubs.

  • fourthwire

Just as the feminazis used the term “deadbeat dad” to vilify and demonize men…. they use the term “mail order bride” to help convince the public and Congress that foreign women using international marriage broker services are being predated upon by American men.

By sabotaging the growing number of international marriage brokers, feminazi lobbyists scored a major coup for those American women who don’t want to face “foreign competition”.

And the feminazis, by striking at those American men looking for an efficient means of meeting foreign women, managed to avert a situation where American women in their 30′s and 40′s would get their noses rubbed in their own lack of “marketability” on the marriage market.

The feminazis also averted a public relations disaster (for them!) that would have occurred if the number of American men marrying foreign women continued to increase……….

IMBRA needs to be toppled, for any number of reasons: it’s unconstitutional, based in lies, damned lies, and demagoguery.

It may not be completely safe for American men to marry and reside in America at all, as cybro points out, but the U.S. government statistics on the divorce rate among men marrying foreign women speak volumes – those marriages are not nearly as likely to fall as when American men marry American women.

“No dating services or happily-betrothed foreign women were invited to testify — their comments would not likely fit the script.”

And no men’s rights activists were invited to testify, either…. since they would likely have likely asked some downright embarrassing questions to those individuals railroading IMBRA through Congress.

American men are essentially without representation in Congress!

  • Jim Peterson

Who here is going to be the Pro Se Plaintiff in an IMBRA challenge that I have already written?

With a female American plaintiff and foreign women as expert witnesses, the main issue that can be easily proven to a “bought off judge” is that IMBRA takes away the rights of women to broadcast their contact information as they see fit, not as the US government sees fit.

IMBRA is a gateway law that will allow the Supreme Court to rule that forced background checks for ALL dating sites is Constitutional…despite this being totally against the Right to Assemble.

Remember also that the Republican judge who denied a restraining order on IMBRA last Memorial Day 2006 said “The Supreme Court has never held that there is a fundamental liberty interest in an American contacting a foreigner”.

The Clintonite judge who reversed himself in order to uphold IMBRA at the district level this past March said “Meeting someone is like buying a gun or renting an apartment, all of which require background checks”.

    Meanwhile…

There is an Iraq War vet in North Carolina who is now running for Congress as a Republican and he wrote me last night saying he supported the cause against IMBRA.

I don’t see that on his website yet, however:

    http://www.breazeale08.com/

Please write to him and ask him where the anti-IMBRA statement is.

If the guy does not openly come out against IMBRA and much of VAWA, then I don’t care to hear privately how he agrees with us.

Most women agree that IMBRA is wrong. A politician in the US, including Giuliani, would do well to openly oppose IMBRA. It would not hurt, but help his popularity.

    Who is Brian Baird`?

By the way, and this is HUGE:

Russia is a wonderful place to live and has changed 180 degrees since 1999.

The article has a huge flaw in describing Russia as a hellhole women would want to escape from.

I go there every weekend practically.

I see sushi restaurants on every street corner now, where 10 years ago I imported my own bottle water in my suitcase.

To say that Russia is a 3rd world country, supports the enemy.

I can say here and now that any challenge against IMBRA will have to prove to a judge that Moscow and St. Petersburg have a higher standard of living than New York and Washington…in order to have a chance of winning.

You can say “Your honor: Before you dare issue a denial of a restraining order on IMBRA, please visit Moscow and see that we are talking about a superior place to Washington in terms of standard of living and social activities (ballet, opera, etc).

  • Jim Peterson

Once you imply that women want to escape Russia, the doubts rise in almost all neutral observers that real romances are happening.

Success against IMBRA can involve concentrating on Russian literature and the pride Russian women have in living in their motherland.

Most Russian women I know want to stay. If they marry an American man, he is expected to stay as well.

Someone mentioned above that judges and Congressmen might be scared of the “Brian Baird Treatment” if they came out against IMBRA.

But Brian Baird, the Congressman who voted against the Iraq War but (after visiting our troops in Iraq) later came out in favor of not pulling out of Iraq, was only accosted by 600 Move-On freaks at a townhall meeting in southeast Washington.

Congressman Baird will not suffer politically for his “reversal” of position on the Iraq War.

Similarly, no Congressman or woman would suffer heavily by looking at the human rights abuses of the IMBRA law and saying “Sorry, but this gateway law threatens all of our freedoms. The Republican judge who claimed that Americans have no liberty interest in contacting foreigners was just dead wrong”.

There would not BE a “Brian Baird Treatment” if a Congressman, left or right, simply came out and said something like that. The feminists, unlike the MoveOn anti-war crowd, have to work behind the scenes because everyone, including almost all women, dislike them when they seem them.

Here are two foreign women commenting on IMBRA in a video:

In the crowded Atlanta Hartsfield Airport this past June, I did a scientific study of how long it took between sightings of extremely attractive women. It came to an average of 10 minutes. Now, one might think that is good but, scientists may someday determine that a wait factor of 10 minutes translates into most men not ever gettting a date with anyone they are truly attracted to.

One week earlier in the Kiev Borispol Airport, the factor had been one sighting every 7 seconds!

    That is the difference.

That is what caused insecure American feminists to get IMBRA passed.

That is why the next target is to stop American men from obtaining passports.

Passports are already being denied to men who owe $2500 or more in child support.

Fathers Rights Activists need to perk up and understand that your happiness depends on more than seeing the kids.

  • fourthwire

Jim, I could not possibly agree more – American feminists are playing to American women’s insecurities by making it as difficult, tedious, inefficient and dangerous as possible for American men to meet foreign-born women.

And those feminists know that by trying to provide American women with a monopoly over marital rights to American women, they can count on at least the tacit political support of the vast majority of American women….. who don’t give a rat’s ass about American men’s rights to meet and marry whom they will.

This madness of stripping the liberties of American men, simply for the convenience of American women MUST be stopped.

And until Congress-critters are voted out of office for supporting feminazis’ misandry-laden lobbying, American men will sink deeper and deeper into servitude.

  • Jim Peterson

So fourthwire is saying that he feels most American women would tacitly agree with IMBRA.

OK. We can agree that 0 American women have agreed to challenge the law for us although we are asking, over at http://www.onlinedatingrights.com, for such a woman to do the challenge.

Some anti-feminist American women have praised us for wanting to fight IMBRA, but they bow out of doing the challenge themselves by giving excuses such as “I am a happily married woman so I could not challenge IMBRA as an affected person”.

This means that they either do not understand that IMBRA affects everyone who might someday want to say hello to any other person for ANY reason. Anybody can challenge IMBRA saying it stops them from contacting foreign women for ANY reason if the women are on a dating website that deals primarily with introducing foreigners with Americans.

An American married woman could challenge IMBRA in court saying one of 2 things:

    1) IMBRA prevents me from contacting the women at http://www.aforeignaffair.com to do a study on what life is like in Russia.

    2) IMBRA prevents me from cheating on my husband if I feel like it. The US Government (Congress) must not and cannot pass lies to prevent people from lying to each other socially or cheating on their spouses. If anything that is a states rights issue (although it is not a states rights issue either).

So, yes, the American women who agree with us have let us down because they should know that ONLY AN AMERICAN WOMAN CAN SUCCESSFULLY CHALLENGE IMBRA.

We have Iraq War vets ready to be plaintiffs, but we know that even Iraq War vets have no standing vs women in the justice system.

We have foreign women ready to be plaintiffs but they are not allowed to challenge this law even though it dishonestly professes to protect them.

    It is a simple formula:

    1) American woman challenges IMBRA.
    2) She gets an immediate restraining order on the law because she is a woman.

Unmarried women can refer to http://www.meetmenfromeurope.com and complain in court that this site is out of business until IMBRA is overthrown…causing her to miss out on all the great French men she could be meeting.

Jim, I believe that unfortunately, the vast majority of American women care less about such concepts as “freedom” and “liberty” than they care about continuing and expanding their own “entitlements” and “privileges”.

The vast majority of American women apparently do NOT see any link between the loss of American men’s rights and their own, understanding, perhaps correctly that Congress and the courts would not DARE to cross women’s self-appointed lobbyists -the feminazis.

And even relatively good-hearted American women generally don’t give a rat’s ass about American men’s rights, liberties, and freedoms, particularly when increasing numbers of women are finding a dearth of men willing to marry them.

Sorry to say, but in the end, American women’s short-term gratification and hope of gratification trumps any altruistic notions of providing American men with greater freedom.

It would be interesting to see if Wendi McElroy, who wrote against IMBRA would be willing to volunteer to be your “token” female…….

I have an aunt who can be described as a chivalrous conservative. She’s an ultra-Catholic churchgoer and even lectures women about the importance of having babies and obeying their husbands.

That said, however, she constantly lectures her sons that it’s wrong for a man to hit a woman for ANY reason (even to defend himself) and that men exist to provide financially for women.

She now accepts and tolerates career women because there are so many of them. This is how the anti-male side of even normal seeming American women crept up: They learned to tolerate the goodies for women because they became ubiquos (commonplace). Women’s goodies became law, women’s entitlements weren’t removed, and women decided they liked it that way.

So when I commented I was marrying a foreign woman she sneered “You be careful if you do that because they’ll move here and act just like an American woman. You’ll see. So you might as well stick with a local woman!”

So it’s laughable to imagine that these women care about IMBRA’s unfairness. They’ve been secretly chuckling about unfair divorce laws, domestic violence, etc. for years. They play games during the courtship process to find rich husbands and milk men as suckers for free dinners as if that’s as moral as going fishing.

What TERRIFIES them is the pussy cartel breaking up. That’s why IMBRA was swift and vindictive as much as a neighborhood bully beating up a kid trying to hide his milk money.

IMBRA is not absolute. Men can still marry foreign women. They can use existing match making services such as match.com.

Because this current article itself was posted at ifeminists.net, I have to assume that Wendi is still on our side…despite not answering my emails in the 18 months since she clued me into IMBRA with this original article from January 2006:

    http://www.ifeminists.net/introduction/editorials/2006/0111.html

Wendi knows Christina Hoff-Sommers well. Yet nobody who opposes IMBRA has been able to speak with Ms. Sommers up to the present moment.

Because Ms. Sommers is the leader of the “Who Stole Feminism” movement, I consider her the most important person in the USA today who could get IMBRA overthrown with a phone call…if she felt it was in her interest.

But as anti-feminist as Ms. Sommers is…why would she try too hard to help American men keep their right to date all those gorgeous 20 somethings in other countries?

It just wouldn’t be in her interest to help American men keep their rights.

Still, I expect her to be honest and help us.

  • Jim Peterson

What I just said, by the way, is the most compelling reason why the Republican Party made a mistake by trusting the battle against feminism to women who only “say” they are against feminism. No matter how many anti-feminist books a woman writes, in the end she has her own interests and it is in the interest of American women to keep the competition from completely running all over them for a generation. Protectionism, at least for the next 10 years while Russia gets richer and richer, would serve their interests.

Recently I had a hysterical gay man yell at me on another blog “You would have an entire generation of American women wiped out”. What he meant was that the fall of the Soviet Union caused a situtation that, if left unregulated, could result in the Generation X American women going without husbands and babies. What is interesting is that he said that without my having fleshed out the concept before. He naturally knew the truth and did not try expounding the usual nonsense that IMBRA is supposedly about protecting foreign women from criminals and men prone to violence.

  • Jim Peterson

Furthermore, at the most famous conservative forum http://www.freerepublic.com in April 2006, a conservative 40 year old woman openly agreed that it would not be in her interest to help fight IMBRA, despite the obvious Constitutional violations. She said that she had a right to find a husband and foreign women should not have the right to squeeze in and take that right away. She said this minutes before I was deleted from that forum where I had been a prolific and popular writer for years.

Let’s put this into perspective, gentlemen

I think the total number of such men marrying foreign women was in the 12K per year range or so. Hardly enough to really dent the American women cartel. BUT… just enough for many American women to statistically have met such a couple and observed them happy and content while the numbers of childless, single American women ballooned.

IMBRA is not going to have much impact on those numbers. Look at dating in general: Despite massive laws against men: Sexual harassment, divorce, child-support, etc. millions of men continue to date women in this country (incredibly.) Most of the jealous harpies above really don’t have a man shortage. They can put an ad on match.com and get HUNDREDS of replies from employed, reliable, kind-hearted men which they then look at the first dozen or so, grab out the wealthiest, best looking man, and then fret when he rejects her proposition to marry right away and have babies because her biological clock is ticking.

This dynamic clearly has an feedback loop effect where women who are so stuck-up and have impossible expectations create a WOMAN shortage thereby causing men to try to appease them causing these women to eventually become useless for marriage or relationships contributing to the woman shortage. Kind of like a fire.

Even IMBRA, as obnoxious as it is, is NOTHING compared to the crap most men in this country go through on a Saturday night. (I’m reminded of the opening scene in Cherry 2000 where futuristic yuppies sign “sex contracts” to get a single night of pleasure with a bitchy, angry woman.)

That’s what’s funny about it: Men have it so bad in this country, that IMBRA is a bit of a joke really. And women have it so good, that even a few thousand women entering this country causes them to go into a panic.

Take it as a compliment that IMBRA was passed: These women recognize that young women are panicking. Metro sections are full of urbane professional women complaining that “ideal” men aren’t banging down their door and they’re paranoid that he might be calling up some foreign girl out of her reach.

  • fourthwire

Polishknight, I agree partly with your opinion, although not fully.

IMBRA appeals to American single women because they’ve had their noses rubbed into their own feces by the sight of individual American men, apparently happily married to foreign women – agreed.

But I disagree partly with your perspective in that I believe that IMBRA was passed to prevent a TRICKLE of American men marrying foreign women from becoming a FLOOD …….. through making the process of seeking foreign brides as inefficient, risky, and relying on individual men’s own resources as possible.

Think about it – as growing numbers of American men are turning their backs on marriage with American women, many of whom might consider marriage with an “untainted” foreign woman….. wouldn’t it make sense for the NOW-sows to try to throttle international introduction agencies BEFORE more American men resort to those?

And I cannot possible take it as a compliment that IMBRA was passed, only because it resulted in even greater trampling on men’s rights to choose their mates when, how, and where they will.

And IMBRA’s ease of passage presages worse abuse of men’s rights to come….. until enough Men stand up and tell the feminazis and their patrons in Congress “ENOUGH!”.

For all of that, fine post, Polishknight! I do appreciate your posts more often than I show……

The feminist are so much in control of legislation and enforcement in American law that now they can fill in small openings that the market place creates for men.

Yet after a foreign woman comes to America that they may be Americanized sooner or later. For her, entitlements are rich; worship by men is addictive; and, shopping is fun.

There are too many men ignorant of the realities of feminist rule of law. And too many men unable to resist lusting for a woman.

If sports or music does not get men’s attention, lust will (sex and sex appeal is in a woman’s bag of tricks for persuasion). Drugs and alcohol does not help a man’s judgement.

At the end of the day the overall numbers do to lie: America’s divorce rate is one of the highest in the world’s approximate 240 countries, and that the marriage rate continues to decline.

Small or big every bill and or law that is anti-male ought to not pass or be over turned.

A men’s group ought to better organized to fight each disagreeable law and bill.

I like http://www.afa.net approach to communicating and campaigning.

    American women are miserable

    Hello Fourthwire,

IMBRA can’t prevent American men from dating foreign women. Hell, it can’t even prevent them from using so-called marriage brokers. All they’ve done is thrown humiliating procedural barriers at the men. I don’t doubt that feminists were hoping to keep the numbers to a trickle, but I think you’re both wrong:

I think if hundreds of thousands of men were going overseas using marriage brokers, then it would have an impact on the locals and the quality of the women in the services and more predatory women would slip through.

I’m not being a polyanna but I am an optimist: I think more news stories will show that men continue to date foreign women despite IMBRA *AND* professional career women continuing to wind up alone.

As you pointed out, men have little rights in our society and then the feminists will need to come up with other more “drastic” measures. But one thing isn’t going to change:

American women are going to be more miserable.

Wouldn’t you think that a successful, empowered group would be, well, at least a little more happy? That’s one thing that struck me when I went overseas: Women were strong and even very serious, but overall they were just much happier and optimistic. Strong people are nice people. I try to be a strong person. Yes, it sucks about our lack of rights here but a lot of people out there in the world also have it a lot worse. Always look on the bright side of life… (give a whistle!)

Seriously though: As American women become more and more miserable, I can’t see how this will help them continue to control men with feminine wiles.

The ease of passage and lack of even ONE man to challenge IMBRA pro se by walking into a federal courthouse…presages much worse laws to come.

Even American women friends who agree that IMBRA is bad…quietly chuckle in their sleeves that women have finally turned the tables on men.

All male politicians in the US now have female legislative assistants who really run the show. This includes Giuliani.

Now for a treat. The following video was just posted showing the two foreign women from the other videos reacting to the concept that American feminists consider them too stupid and non-English speaking to judge men for themselves without background checks being conducted for them first:

    http://www.veteransabroad.com/10092007030.mp4

You will have to download this video. It has no viruses.

  • Jim Peterson

I again call for just one man or woman to volunteer to walk into a federal courthouse anywhere in the US or its territories and get a restraining order on IMBRA.

I can send you a complete case (complaint). All you have to do is carry it into a courthouse.

I cannot do this with my current job and location, but most of my adult life I would have been ready and able to do such a thing.

In fact, for most of my life, if something like IMBRA had happened, I would be front and center as the main plaintiff in federal court.

To do this, I will want someone who understands the issue a little. I have already had a few volunteers but I ended up begging them not to do it because they seemed too stupid to understand the issue.

One guy, after a month of what I thought was prep, said to me “How do I explain to a woman I know about how bad IMBRA is”? I called the whole thing off.

The amount of stupid men in the MRM is enormous.

The amount of gutless men in the MRM is enormous as well.

After that you have lazy “leaders” who tell important people “you can read all about our complaint about VAWA on our website” instead of explaining right there and then the key things that need to be explained…as well as the know-it-alls like the one who goes on television but insists that he will never mention VAWA or IMBRA on Fox News or CNN because the viewers “would only get bored and change the channel”.

  • Jim Peterson

Basically, anybody who knows about IMBRA and doesn’t try to move Heaven and Earth to stop it…is about as guilty as the criminals who got this law pushed through.

Look at Congressman Moran of Virginia who pushed this law: the guy beat up his own wife and the feminists blackmailed him into getting this law passed.

But I have as much respect for him as I do many of the guys who read about IMBRA, say it is horrible, but then do NOTHING about it despite the fact that they could easily walk into the nearest courthouse and lay down a few documents that I have already written that will put an instant restraining order on this.

Guys should just move overseas. Leave American women behind. They are worse than useless. Find a nice foreign woman and stay in her country. Under no circumstances return to the US where you are subject to American family law and can lose everything.

Otherwise, just don’t get married. American sluts (almost all American women) will still sleep with you because they sleep with everyone.
