Still Flogging Jeri Thompson ‘Trophy Wife’ Jab
Speaking of a here-we-go-again story, the AP this morning has revived the Jeri Thompson as trophy wife story again. This is an extremely demeaning charge leveled at the wife of Fred Thompson that keeps resurfacing, over and over, in the liberal press. The thrust of the story is that she is a brainless hottie that Thompson only grabbed up because she is great arm candy. But Jeri Thompson is an accomplished and driven individual in her own right and for the MSM to continually claim she is nothing but a “trophy wife” slights her own achievements.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Jeri Thompson, wife of GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson, shakes off the “trophy wife” label critics have tagged her with for being 24 years younger than her husband.
Fred Thompson, for his part, has a great comeback for the constant demeaning of his beautiful wife. “Thompson said: ‘I almost think they had to fabricate that trophy-wife stuff because there’s nothing interesting to say.”’
Jeri Thompson is no bubble-headed bimbo, though. She was a successful media consultant for the Washington DC law firm of Verner Lipfert and also worked for the Republican Senate Conference and the Republican National Committee before marrying Fred Thompson and stepping back from her career to concentrate on raising a family.
And it won’t be completely unusual to have a president with a much younger wife, either. Columnist Gary North reminds us that Frances Folsom Cleveland was 27 years younger than President Grover Cleveland, and that Julia Gardiner Tyler was 30 years younger than President John Tyler.
Still, we will see this charge brought up over and over again by the MSM as the presidential contest is waged.
Now here is the question: Michelle Obama is quite an attractive woman. Do you think folks will call her a “trophy wife?” What about Dennis Kucinich’s wife, Elizabeth? She is decades younger than the Buckeye nut from Cleveland! Is she a “trophy wife?” If so, I’ve never seen the MSM refer to her as such. In fact, Elizabeth is far younger than her husband than is Jeri from Fred! Elizabeth Kucinich is 30 years her husband’s junior while Jeri is only 24 years Fred’s junior.
Or does the MSM imagine that Democrats don’t “do” trophy wives?

Warner: You are missing what is going on despite hanging around MND. The feminists are wrapping the Republican Party around their fingers because the idiot Karl Rove and others like him allowed a lot of insecure older women to achieve critically important positions in the Republican Party (example: Karen Czarneck at Dept of Labor).
These women despise men who don’t worship them. Younger women are anathema to them. And they are now solidly in place inside the Republican Party.
This all got exacerbated when billionaire Dick Scaife pushed the Monica Lewinsky situation. For thousands of years, powerful men played around with 22 year old interns. But the big push to hate Bill Clinton for the one thing he did right caused a shift of sensible males out of Republican politics and an influx into the party of the very type of older woman feminist who would despise a man for sleeping with a gorgeous young woman.
At the time one could have thought it was rather clever that Scaife used his billions to define “conservatism” in a way that would attract the anti-male type of older woman who would be horrified about a man who is not her husband (and thus none of her business) sleeping with his secretary…because this seemed to have been the core of radical leftwing feminism.
Apparently, short-sighted Republican planners hoped that a lot of Democrat feminists would switch parties when they saw how hypocritical NOW was about not criticizing Bill Clinton for the Monica affair.
What happened in reality was that these feminists only pretended to switch parties or gladly took positions in the Republican Party in order to make it no different from the Democratic Party as far as women’s issues was concerned.
The Democrat Media knows all this and is currently telling their Republican female allies that their most hated enemy is to be seen in poor Fred who is guilty of having found a wife he can be sexually attracted to.
Meanwhile, all Republican Senators have feminist legislative aides. I just called Chuck Hagel’s office today. I do not understand why Republican male politicians feel their legislative assistants need to be women who will then tell him how to think and what to say.

You don’t get it Warner. The media is trying to capitalize on the fact that, since the Monica Lewinsky case, a lot of anti-male women have joined the Republican Party and taken high positions there…in order to combat what they have decided is the height of liberalism…men being with younger women. If Fred does not openly combat this by saying that this is misandry and there is specifically nothing wrong with marrying a younger woman and all Republicans who think otherwise need to vote Democrat…then he deserves to lose.
The media is trying to capitalize on misandry in the Republican Party.
If the party was still dominated by males, it would be a plus that he married such a gorgeous young woman. But the party is dominated by the kind of women who would hate Fred for this. Thus the dishonest left wing media is doing exactly the logical thing to further their cause of wiping out the Republican Party until at least men take over again.

Not going to happen. We are the party of morals, and anyone who’s screwing around on his wife deserves to be history.
Having said that, Fred Thompson is the man. His wife is actually far more intelligent than any major democrat woman (she’s Einstein next to Hillary) and he’s lucky to have her. Her looks are just lagniappe. And besides, doesn’t the winner get the trophy?
