Feminist Writer Ann Friedman Has a Point

Feminist writer Ann Friedman, editor of the leading feminist blog www.feministing.com, has a point in her recent blog post “‘Your Women Are Ugly!’ is not a political argument.” Friedman’s blog post is a little overwrought, but she’s right that comparisons such as that pictured are sexist.

I would also add that they’re usually rigged, as in the poster (pictured) which she cites. Obviously anybody could find a group of attractive pictures of conservative women and unattractive pictures of liberal women–you could do the opposite just as easily.

It’s also rigged because some of the pictures of the liberal women were chosen specifically because they make the person look bad. Susan Estrich is an attractive woman, but they picture her here at her absolute worst, as they do with Hillary Clinton.

But it’s not the sexism of such arguments that bothers me as much as that they remind me of the way some kids taunt and humiliate each other on the schoolyard. I never wanted to participate in that cruelty as a child, and I’ve got no interest in participating in it as an adult.

Very “decent” of you to write so, Glenn……. but your efforts to behave “decently” are fairly irrelevant in the face of women (and not a few men!) who don’t give a rat’s ass for “decent behavior” in their war on men and boys.

I wouldn’t bother to compare attractiveness of “liberal” verus “conservative” women, anyway.

I would point out that there are DAMNED FEW attractive feminists, though, whatever you might believe about Susan Estrich.

Lack of attractiveness results in quite a few middle-aged, embittered women, women who are ready, willing, and able to declare war on men. They did not have a line of men vying for the right to support them and their life-choices, looked around for a convenient class of oppressor and learned in their Womyn’s Studies that they were being oppressed by MEN all along!

9’s and 10’s among women generally do not NEED those artificially constructed entitlements and privileges for women - they have men willing and able to cater to their comforts and needs.

So…. don’t get caught up in Ann Friendman’s ovary-think, Glenn.

No daveinga, Glenn did NOT say Hitlery was attractive, he was referring only to Susan Estrich. Truth is, there are no good pictures of Hitlery, but you gotta admit, most of the ones we see of her are REALLY BAAAAAD, this one included. Frankly, she scares the wits out of me.

you know brother I think highly of you. You also know we don’t agree on everything.

    But Glenn-

this is a fluff piece. It’s primarily fluff by Friedman, But by even raising this as an issue of comment you give it some relevance.

Look Glenn, I live in the bluest of blue states: Massachusetts.

This is not some Beach Boys song where the women dress so well. Believe me, the women here are masculine. And hard on the eyes.

I’ve spent a lot of time in California. It’s real blue there too. A lot of the women there by the time they are 35 look like some freak cosmetic experiment gone bad. They ain’t “the best” like that Beach Boys song would have you believe. Not by a mile.

I have been to NYC a lot. There are some hot looking women there but the majority of the time they were not even born there. They either are a small town girl from the midwest checking out the big city or they are from another country altogether. The American born women are easy to spot. It ain’t a pretty sight over the age of 35 for a lot of them.

I’m not saying every Republican woman is hot and every Democratic women is ugly. But my observations have been that a whole lot of Democratic women would scare the wolves away on a full moon night.

If the Democratic women out there don’t like it: tough sh*t. Hey, it’s not like they are reasonable or fair towards us men.

On first thought, it seems Glenn is trying too hard to seem reasonable and treating the “enemy” too well. After all they treat us so bad. The golden rule is a good rule, but does it apply to our enemy?

He is though of course correct. I took my oldest son to lunch today. He was approached by a woman I didn’t know who was very friendly to him. It turns out she is the mother of a girl who is his long time peer and class mate.

She looked at me kind of strange. She was very friendly on the surface. She obvfiously knew nothing about me — asking whether I lived in town, for example.

It my be my imagination, but I couldn’t help but think she was viewing me badly — as a deadbeat dad, etc. I am and always have paid my child support, but this is how all noncustoidal parents are viewed due to all the ugly propaganda.

My point is that we can be better than them. We don’t have to characterize them as all ugly witches although many are just as they shouldn’t characterize us as all deadbeats, absuive, etc. as only a few of us are.

Good looking people can sell most anything, and Rupert Murdoch knows this.

But CNN is catching on. Now, they too have all good-looking liberals to sell their views. We are a nation that goes on physical appearance.

This habit probably started with the first caveman. Even animals evolved for appearances…which explains the peacock…which explains Bill Clinton.

It’s all about the money. Hillary has had plenty of plastic surgery, and she will have more.

Women who were not born with “good Looks” were an easy mark for the feminists, weren’t they? I get the feeling Janet Reno would have done anything for Bill.

Now— you have to be good-looking as well as smart to really stay on top. The culture seems to demand it. And being good looking presents it’s own problems.

AND there has always been a double standard for men…but that is changing as we speak. Tell me Mr. Sachs…does Fox make you wear Makeup?

This subject about “looks” is many faceted.

Having said that, I’ve always gotten the feeling that Madeline Albright THINKS she is just a killer in the looks department. I don’t know why.

Right, so female feminists want to cut off the penises of their lovers and husbands and fathers and cousins and … where are you getting this research from? Oh right, almost forgot…your own deluded imaginings.

Not all feminists are women, by the way. And though I find it completely irrelevant and honestly idiotic to pin so much worth on their looks when men can do nearly everything they want in life even if they were born as ugly as the back of a donkey, many feminist women are attractive.

“What makes American women so unattractive isn’t their looks, which are probably evenly distributed between feminists and non-femininists, but the attitude of hatred and entitlement that make them unbearable.”

Let me get this straight. You think that all American *women* are hateful and prone to entitlement? Entitlement to what? Have you looked scrupulously at the actions of any American men lately? Oh wait… this is a men’s publication. How silly of me.

“They think that all men are stupid, have no idea of how to respect much less
love a man and have vast delusions about what they deserve.”

No, they just don’t love shortsighted idiots who, for example, post such articles of drivel in men’s publications. What you fail to realize is that many feminists find quite decent men and often *gasp* even marry them. But they don’t have to. And why should a woman’s worth be determined by her ability to love a man?

And what, exactly, are these cast delusions about what they deserve? Could you elaborate? What exactly should our fellow human beings be denied?

“The 50 and over American women are riddled with anger and seem to to have nothing that gives them pleasure.”

You feel that you can speak for a whole section of the American population. How impressive.

“This post is slightly exaggerated, I admit, but only slightly.”

Oh my. I can’t contain my grin.

So I leave you with this:

“Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings.” –Cheris Kramerae

My goodness! Sometimes I wonder if certain people have ever met a true feminist. Feminists want equality for men and women. That means they want a better world for men, too! My boyfriend of four years and I are planning to get married, and we love each other very much. He identifies as a feminist too. We love and respect each other, we support one another’s ambitions and efforts, and we’re equal partners on everything. We’re also both Christian. Most of my very closest friends are men, and I certainly love my father and brother. Just because many feminists are angry about the way that some men treat women doesn’t mean we hate men. It’s important to remember that women and men are all human people, and that we’re in this together. Stereotyping is lazy.

I think that Glen is correct to point out that you don’t want to sink to the level of gradeschool taunts. It accomplishes nothing and only reinforces the worst that people will believe in you. It is not constructive (and not particularly accurate either) to characterize liberal women as ugly. For one thing, why is that important? You may not like Hilary Clinton, and you may find her utterly unattractive, but that has no affect on her ability to govern, nor has it impeded her success. Pleny of unattractive men have become very powerful players in Washington, regardless of their ease on the eyes. It’s a silly argument, and while I’m sure that Glen and I disagree on nearly everything else, he’s right to want no part of it.

And miraculously he survived. And she’s obviously quite happy that it happened. What a completely moronic thing to post, since that woman is probably happily married and THEY were devastated when the doctors told them that one twin would cause the other to die. 4.) Women use the nuclear option of “domestic violence” to gain sole custody of children and ownership of assets as this tactic is now routinely recommended by Family Law lawyers even though it has been shown that domestic violence is committed by women about as frequently as domestic violence committed by men, and most reported cases of DV in divorce proceedings are untrue but never questioned in court.

5.) Women via preferential affirmative action laws have for decades been hired and promoted over men simply because they have a vagina.

6.) Women have been handed the dominate position of greater rights and greater economic position and opportunity in the world of work (formerly the male dominated sphere) due to affirmative action laws going back decades while the female dominated sphere, the family, continues to be owned solely by females. See 1.), 2.), 3.), & 4.).

7.) Whereas throughout history, however diificult life was for women, it has always been more difficult for men. Men used to have concurrent rights with responsibilities while women always had privileges and favored status. Men no longer have concurrent rights. They are fourth class citizens behind women, children, and pets.

8.) Due to the VAWA men can be ejected from their home and separated from their children by the state without any due process rights on the basis only of a phone call by a woman.

9.) Three young men at Duke university almost spent 30+ years of their lives in jail on false charges of rape on the word only of a woman. Their families today have over $1 million in legal fees each. The state, the media, and univerisity officials almost succeeded in their high tech lynching of these innocent men. Almost everyday we read about DNA test exonerating men who were falsely accused of rape and who, in many cases, spend years behind bars.

10.) Women routinely get a slap on the hand for the sexual molestation of minors-a crime that will get a man 20+ years in jail.

11.) The wife of a preacher was recently set free after being found not guilty in the murder of her preacher husband. In this case, the woman shot the man in the back while he was asleep. There was no verifiable proof of any DV against this woman or the children at anytime in their marriage. In fact, the children are on record as saying there was no violence in their home. This same crime by a man would result in a life sentence or the death penalty.

I could go on and on and on. I haven’t even scratched the surface when considering how much I have posted about this the last 6 years. And you are telling the men here about fairness that affects YOU!!!

Perhaps my fellow MRA brothers can continue this list. (It does get tiring at times to have to respond to such female ignorance so often.)

It is so predictable that American women call themselves feminists and harp about fairness when it is not they who get treated unfairly but rather the men who do. What is also predictable is that women will never defend men and never fight against the injustices against men. They will only talk about themselves.

For them, it’s always about them.

    Always is.

    Always was.

They only think of themselves, not the family, society, country, or civilization. They are consumed with themselves and only themselves. A woman wears makeup, jewelry, high heels and such because she is vain. It is love of one’s self; it is not about dressing up for men (unless she is trying to marry or is interested in him) or other women. Women are only generous with other peoples money (her husbands or fathers), not their own. They have children because it gives them power and respect, not because they love children. All evil can be traced back to females. Whether they are manipulating men/boys to do their evil biding: or mentally and physically abusing their children. They are and have always been Man’s quintessential curse. Man’s unbridled burden, the Achilles heel of every man and society.
