A village or island just for child molesters?

I have read recent findings that show that the belief that child molesters are doomed to re-offend is outdated and that many do not. However, it is assuredly true that many child molesters are incorrigibly recidivist.

Child molesting is a horrible crime and children must be protected from it. However, it is not equivalent to murder so child molesters should not receive the death penalty. I also believe life in prison is too harsh.

Perhaps an alternative that would protect children without being inhumane would be a system of non-punitive detention. That is, a village located in a remote section could be set up. Pedophiles and adults who want to work in the area would populate it. Minors would be rigorously prevented from entering. Women or men who are Significant Others could live in the village but women who get pregnant would have to leave to have their babies and could not return with child in tow.

Within the village, the people – mostly men – who are in it would enjoy both freedom and privacy. They would have homes and hopefully jobs.

But they could not leave and the tightest possible security would surround the village to ensure no one left and no unauthorized person went inside. It could be located on a small island or in a remote location.

Readers, what do you think?

“mostly men”, eh? I guess you haven’t been paying attention to the news, let alone the latest information on DV and child molestation.. it’s mostly done by WOMEN. Not men.

Though, when it is a man, they are seldom the child’s father, but instead, a step-parent, boyfriend, live-in something-or-other… and it is the mother that invites them in.

(Denise) I believe that the amount of child molestation perpetrated by women is seriously under-reported and undercounted. However, I also believe that the majority of people being arrested and imprisoned for this crime are men.

(Denise) Very true. Biological fathers are not a primary threat to children. I wrote a blog on this very subject. Live-in boyfriends are a major threat.

The place you describe exists in pretty well all but small detail. Washington DC. But don’t be too concerned, Dustball. Women are taking over there. We’ll soon have them corraled.

Oh, and the live-in boyfriend is the major threat? Numbers please. Reliable ones.

“However, I also believe that the majority of people being arrested and imprisoned for this crime are men”

Considering the incompetence and corruption and bias of the judiciary, do you believe that all men who are arrested and imprisoned for this crime are guilty? How about discounting the men who are wrongly imprisoned (due to false allegations by some vicious ex wife)? Do you want those men to also share residence with really guilty women and men? Or do you want to fix things in the courts and media first before going ahead with your plan to cut off those people from civilization?

So you are saying “it takes a village” to harbor pedophiles and keep them down the straight and narrow? Let’s see, where have I heard that before? Maybe that could be the next topic for a best-selling Hillary book. But who would actually write it? Jeffrey Dahmer? No, he is already dead, thank God.

Well okay Denise, let’s say you’re right.
Next let’s segregate all the tailgaters that menace the freeways.
When we get them off to one side, let’s get all the mean people off the streets, then all those inconsiderate cusses who leave the shopping carts out in the parking lots instead of returning them to the stores.
Where does this kind of thinking end? Where does one draw the line?
I wonder sometimes just how much thought you put onto planning a topic for an article sometimes.

maybe we could have a seperate island for all the women molesters that are convicted and forced to serve hard time for their crimes.

no, perhaps not a good idea… that little space would only require a life raft.
