“[Shared Parenting] is an issue which knows no bounds. It is neither the domain of conservatives or liberals, poor or wealthy, and pays no attention to ethnicity or sex. Our issues cross all demographics and our goals are shared, and should be supported, across all sectors of our society.”

An announcement from Mike McCormick, Executive Director of the American Coalition for Fathers & Children:

“The most significant change going into 2008 takes place with respect to the office of ACFC President. As many of you know, Dr. Stephen Baskerville has returned to academic pursuits, taking a position as associate professor of government at Patrick Henry College in Virginia.

“Over the past four years as ACFC President, Stephen has published numerous articles and scholarly reports on the plight of parents in the family courts, as well as producing significant commentary on domestic violence and the child support bureaucracy…

“With the publication of his recent book: ‘Taken Into Custody: The War Against Fathers, Marriage and the Family’ Stephen has once again exposed the system which profits by separating parents and children. As a result of his teaching load, responsibilities connected to promoting the book, desire to continue devoting time to writing and coupled with the end of his term in office, he is not seeking reappointment as President of ACFC. He will remain active with the organization, continuing to serve as a member of the Board of Directors. All of us appreciate his contributions over these past years and look forward to his future articles and commentary.

“The ACFC Board of Directors (David Roberts, Dr. Stephen Baskerville, Michael McCormick, Dr. Stephen Walker, John Maguire and Jim Semerad) have been working on this transition for several months. We were guided in our search by the principle that ours is an issue which knows no bounds. It is neither the domain of conservatives or liberals, poor or wealthy, and pays no attention to ethnicity or sex. Our issues cross all demographics and our goals are shared, and should be supported, across all sectors of our society. Our desire was to bring forward a candidate that was first and foremost a strong Shared Parenting advocate. Thereafter, we were looking for someone with excellent credentials academically and professionally. We sought a leader who would present the case for Shared Parenting in a manner appealing to all sectors of our society.

“Our search committee members considered and discussed the position with several candidates and are pleased to announce ACFC’s new President for 2008, Dr. Linda Nielsen.

“For the past two decades Dr. Nielsen has been a proponent of Shared Parenting. She is a tenured faculty member at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Her background as a social researcher combined with her training as an adolescent psychologist, make hers a voice which cannot be ignored in the expanding debate over the need for Shared Parenting and the important necessity of a father’s contribution in child rearing.

“In 2004 Dr. Nielsen authored the book, ‘Embracing Your Father’ which encourages and provides practical advice to young women wanting a deeper relationship with their fathers. As a professor in Wake Forest’s women studies program she teaches a course titled ‘Fathers and Daughters.’ Unique in the nation, this course challenges young women to break out of stereotypical thinking about Fathers and ‘requires/encourages’ them to develop a deeper relationship with the most important man in their life, their Dad. “In 2005 PBS released a documentary on this important work and it’s life changing impact on the women who have passed through the course. We are working to secure permission to rebroadcast this film through the ACFC website and hope to bring it to you shortly.

“Dr. Nielsen is already having a positive impact on our issues. She has completed a straight forward, easy to use, two-page brochure summarizing the research which makes the case for Shared Parenting and kids crucial need for father involvement. Look for this brochure in an upcoming email.

“It is our pleasure to welcome Dr. Linda Nielsen. Click here for highlights of Linda’s biography.”

The decision to employ a ‘Women’s Studies’ lecturer, would be described by Sir Humphry as ‘Courageous’. The very idea is enough to send shudders of fear through the most dim Minister. I do hope that Dr. Nielsen isn’t a wolf disguised as sheep-dog.

    Hmmmm.

What of the other candidates ? Or was the field so short that she stood out as the only hay-bale this side of the hedge?

I strongly suggest that everyone respect this appointment and support the work of ACFC. I have news for anyone who has doubts: Dave Roberts and the rest of the board are extremely intelligent and wise people, who collectively are quite capable of selecting the best candidate. I know one other thing about the folks in ACFC: they would never pick someone who is less than 100% committed to restoring the roles of fathers in the family.

Anyone who still thinks that the appointment is somehow improper needs to realize that there are a lot of women fed up with radical feminism. Being women, they know the wiles of feminism, and being women they don’t have to break through all those myths about men to deliver the message.

The idea that it is valid for a female to head a private organisation expressly set out to combat one aspect of institutional hatred of males within the home and family, because women are also fed up with radical feminism is laughable. It only shows up our private organisations and the rest of the mens’ movement as ignorant of symbolism and as political minows or untalented babes with little or no ability within ranks.

Wherever a woman of talent shares the mens’ movements’ outrage concerning the excesses of radical feminism, her rightful place is at the head of a public political party or movement and not a private organisation concerned with only one particular aspect of male subjugation.

It is not misogynist or iliberal to say so or recognise this fact. The public political face of antimisandry must of course and by every account include that of females, themselves outraged by gynocentrism. But the detail of philosophy, policy and the minutiae of corrective action against manhatred must by every aspect and measure be dictated by and embodied by males…

    … WHY ?

BECAUSE IT IS OVER THE VERY BODY, AND ON THE VERY HEADS OF MALES THEMESELVES AS FATHERS, CHILDREN AND HUMAN BEINGS, THAT IMPACT AND EXPERIENCE OF THE EVIL, AND THEREFORE SOLUTIONS TO IT EMANATE !

    Sorry David but…

A womens studies professor and lecturer, a writer of books about girls….

is acking to a grand wizard running the NAACP and writing books on the plights of whites in the south at the turn of the century….

I think you get my drift.

A scorpion asks a frog for a ride on his back to get a across a river. The frog refuses saying, “If you get on by back, then you will sting me and I will die.”

“No, No, No.” she says, “If I sting you, then I will die too, as I will drown in the water.”

The frog changes his mind as it makes sense, so the scorpion jumps on the back of the frog and half way across the river the scorpion stings the frog. The frog asks, “Why did you sting me?” She replies, “I’m a scorpion.”

    Lloyd Selberg Says:

Nothing could be a better example of the wiliness of so called Men’s/Father’s Rights Activist leadership to sell out their primary victims. While shared parenting is a viable issue affecting a feminized society, it is little more than a politically correct issue that groups like Children’s Right’s Council have addressed for years. It’s just one piece of the problem resulting from the popular feminist ideology.

Ideology is substitute religion, a belief system based on ideas that are often contradicted by history and common sense. Yet society will adhere to ideologies with a zealotry that borders on fanaticism. Marxism, fascism and socialism are ideologies, gods that failed. So, too, is feminism, the Gospel of modern Western society.

Clearly, Dave Robert’s, ACFC’s founder and financial supporter, has decided to cut his loss and move to a more politically correct position. In no way does this make his decision the correct or morally superior position. It merely continues the path of today’s androgynous and egalitarian ideologies that simply defy common sense.

Feminism promotes a belief that all men and women are equally endowed with a desire for dominance and control and possess an aptitude for same. All can be uplifted, and all brought to see that sexual equality is the one true path to peace in our world. In androgyny lies our salvation.

In a democracy where men and women have an equal vote, women will always rule regardless of the God given male dominance. No amount of wishful thinking or ideological zealotry is going to reverse the natural complimentary nature of men and women and make them identical. Feminism is leading to family destruction and societal breakdown which is obvious everywhere.

Why is feminism fated to fail? Because reality is otherwise. The genders are not equal in their innate ability to learn English or math, as they are not equal in their ability to play sports, music or chess. A second-grader knows that, but our elites reject it as bigotry and blasphemy against the egalitarian dogmas that define who they are.

The directors of ACFC have simply chosen to ignore the fundamental problems associated with feminist promoted androgyny and egalitarian ideologies and focus on what they perceive to be reasonable objectives. They lack the perspective that while CRC has achieved many successful steps toward shared parenting; the problems of family and societal decay are ever increasing. Shared parenting is not a solution to the problems that face Western civilization.

Until we align our elite thinkers with reality and common sense they will continue to promote failed ideologies. Expecting positive results and leadership from those teaching women’s studies with an education in child psychology is simply incomprehensible. I’ll look to those educated in science and engineering for leadership and direction. The least ACFC could have done if selecting a female leader, they could have chosen someone educated in reason and logic, rather than feminist ideology.
