First Men’s Shelter Opens in Canada

Women’s advocacy organizations have long had full control of government resources allocated for domestic violence services, in spite of the fact that at least half of all serious domestic violence is initiated by women. Politicians whose faux-chivalry views originate below the belt have enabled this to happen (recall that the Ku Klux Klan also placed women on pedestals of unquestionable purity and innocence).

Men need equal access to prevention, intervention, and protective services. Fundamental principles of Democracy and human rights dictate it. If a spouse is violent, it is that person who should be required to leave the residence to deal with his or her emotional or other problems.

The responsible spouse should never be the one blamed or excommunicated from marriage, parenthood, and society. Never again should custody of children go to violent or neglectful mothers, who becoming single mothers, are responsible for at least 2/3 of serious and fatal child abuse and neglect.  And, when we refuse to address women’s violence as aggressively as we do men’s violence,  a lot of women end up injured or dead thinking they can wail on their husband with impunity.

Finally, and historically, Earl Silverman is opening the first shelter for male victims of domestic violence has opened in Calgary, Canada. The financing is private. You can see a video by Canadian television here.

When you watch this video, please note how the female interviewed, who appears to work for a women’s advocacy group, tries to avoid change by suggesting that funding is needed for “research”. Research what, my dear? We all know that women are the primary abusers in half of marriages. Prevention, intervention, and shelter services must be made fully available to men, no excuses or delays permitted.

Now now, you know NOW has to research this from the feminist side to prove men are the abusers not the abused. If they were honest, I doubt that Shattered Men would exist because it was NOW’s refusal to acknowlede that mothers can be abusive that a woman I know did her own research and found they are abusive. I found her website and it changed my views and a few months later, Shattered Men was started.

It is my understanding that feminist organizations have used tax payer money to do research but it proved just the opposite of what they wanted. The result…they trashed the researc and pretended it never happened. No word on their repaying the research grant money but I sure will not hold my breath waiting for proof they did.

There lies the belly of the problem..And it does stem from biased research!!

Most research dollars (As Dr. Warren Farrel in “The Myth of male power”) points out to us, goes towards studying Areas that womens studies wants to be studied!!
We have not done exhaustive research into fales rape accussations simply because the girls don’t want that studied!!
We haven’t studied the linc between domestically violent women, and child abuse and neglect, because the girls don’t want that studied!!
We haven’t studied different types of violent women, because the girls don’t want that studied!!

IF “the girls” don’t want it studied, guess what folks, it doesn’t get Academically studied.
If it never gets studied, then their is no research or data to suggets conclusions.
If it never gets studied, I’ts all just irrevlevant, here say.
“The girls” are pre-empting any academic discussion by controlling what we are allowed to know, and what we are not allowed to know!!

They control all or most domestic violence and gender related research!!

In fact I think theres some sort of “old girls” network in Academia, when they decide who gets to study what!!

it’s like… some form of “old girls” network/ with alot of men in it!!

Please keep in mind that gender wars will always net a winner and looser. If we continue this direction, we (as a gender) will undoubtedly have an uphill battle due to societal programming which won’t allow us to NOT protect women. It would far better serve males in our society if we see this issue from the side of equal access to equal resources rather than boy against girl.
As for research, Who’s stopping you for putting together empirical evidence? Since when does academia have the corner on research? Maybe it’s time to top the rhetoric and start the action.
