I guess I was one of the hundred or so that commented and one of those that criticised.

Hannah's husband makes telling points and I can see the quandry Hannah has. Of course she isn't the Nazi SS Officer - she is just one of the 'Germans' / women who stood by as the Jews / men were carted off. Well, actually, she intimated she may have been driving one or two of the trucks. Maybe even broke a few Jewish shop windows. Wore a uniform with infamous markings.

We are assured she is repentant. She says so. Hmmmm. And maybe is. Should Hannah's husband be grateful? Maybe, a bit. Hmmm. Hard one, isn't it. Should he let her stand by him? Maybe. But as he says, "All the while this former Nazi does nothing to fix the damage that their former ignorance has inflicted on its victims.". He is letting the Nazi off lightly giving 'ignorance' as a mitigation. Unconsciously giving her some leeway, perhaps?

It seems Hannah's answer is in her own hands. As Eliza Doolittle sang in 'My Fair Lady', to Freddy the timid suitor, "SHOW ME'. Its not just a woman's requirement to be assured by action. She has to do something to right the wrongs.

Hannah is hurt that she isn't trusted or considered a 'helpmate' or even, perhaps, sincere. That is the consequence of gassing Jews, and other acts. She reaps what she sowed so has to get busy planting a new and better crop of actions and WIN respect - and forgiveness.
