Bernard Chapin’s book, Escape From Gangsta Island: A School’s Progressive Decline, is now available as a podcast series exclusively on MensNewsDaily.com.
Read by MND’s editor and publisher, Mike LaSalle, Escape From Gangsta Island is a first hand account of the implosion of an alternative school where Chapin worked as a school psychologist for 6 years from 1998 to 2004. Many bizarre, but true, circumstances are detailed. Among professional educators, the work has been well-received as it is a portrait of educational dysfunction of which most of us are largely unaware.
The book was originally published in March, 2006. In all, there are 19 chapters. MND will be releasing one chapter per week as a podcast.
