When a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully.

Chapter 2 of Bernard Chapin’s book, Escape From Gangsta Island: A School’s Progressive Decline, is now available as a podcast exclusively on MensNewsDaily.com.
In Chapter 1, Mr. Chapin gave readers an introductory view of his job along with his profession. He also makes a point of informing us that this is a politically unusual tale, and that he will not allow any of his prejudices to interfere with the story. Here, in Chapter 2, we begin with Chapin’s boss, the district Supervisor in charge of the Eastlands Center, Jorge Ichada, paying him a visit. It is not a social one and is a result of Mr. Ichada finding out about an article that Chapin published concerning the school on MND back in February of 2004.
