Stepping Back from the Conservative Abyss
|
“If you are looking at substance rather than if there is an ‘R’ or a ‘D’ after his name, manifestly, if he’s our candidate, then Hillary is going to be our girl, because she’s more conservative than he is…” – Ann Coulter on Hannity & Colmes If Conservatives and Republicans don’t squelch their anger toward the apparent party nominee we will be falling into the trap the Liberal Left has set for us; the trap that splinters the Conservatives within the Republican Party so that another Clinton (or Democrat) can get into the White House with less than a majority of the national vote. We will be acting emotionally instead of intellectually; exactly as the Liberal Left wants us to. I support Conservative principles and ideals. I would have enjoyed having a true Conservative on the ballot in November because I believe, given the choice, the nation would have voted “right.” But the reality of the situation, as it stands, is that dedicated Conservatives don’t have a horse in the November presidential contest. The choice now is this; do we fold altogether and literally hand the White House to a woman who idolizes the Socialistic tenets of Saul Alinsky or an untested freshman senator with no political paper trail, or do we advance intelligently, salvaging what we can? Anyone familiar with the American political process understands that politics is never, ever a zero-sum game. There is never a moment in time when one political party, one ideological group, gets its way completely. We are seeing a perfect example of this today on Capitol Hill with the debate and negotiations and compromises on the economic stimulus package and the FISA bill. But the truth remains, those who enter into the realm of politics with absolutes usually leave the field with nothing. Most often, they leave the experience with their cause damaged; their ideological demise coming at their own hand for their failure to accept incremental advancement. The sad truth of the matter is this; we – Conservatives and Republicans – have only ourselves to blame for the fact that no true Conservative is left to consider in November. We only have ourselves to blame for the fact that when the Republican National Committee was busy stacking the New England deck in favor of Rudy Giuliani with the “winner take all” delegate fiasco they were doing it in plain sight; doing it with nary a protest from the rank and file. This set the stage for a Liberal-Republican victory. Further, how did we – the rank and file members of the Republican Party – allow two major Liberal states, in New Hampshire and Iowa, to dictate who the “Conservative” candidates would be? That the most Conservative of states weren’t slated for primaries first is the major problem here, not that McCain is a Progressive-Republican, although that can be argued. Lastly, our refusal to accept and lack of appreciation for the notion of incremental victory is part of the problem. There are many among the Conservative and Republican ranks that have made it very clear they see no difference between John McCain and the Democrat candidates. In light of that notion I advance these concerns: A Hillary Clinton Administration A Clinton administration would move this country to the far left in four years, complete with a defunding of the military and the intelligence communities while abdicating much of our country’s sovereignty to the United Nations when it comes to global policy. As was the case under the first Clinton administration, terrorism would be relegated to a matter of “law enforcement.” A Clinton administration would continue the corruption and liberalization of the whole of the Executive Branch (the State Department, the Justice Department, the Pentagon, etc.). It would continue to encourage the State Department to embrace its one-world, globalist policies, policies that have usurped the Constitution by ignoring the authority of Executive Branch under the Bush administration. This usurpation is perpetrated at the hands of many Bill Clinton appointees. We will also see a continued politicalization of the Justice Department as foes of the Clintons are scrutinized while their allies and benefactors go unprosecuted for their malfeasance – both financial and criminal. And no doubt, Hillary Clinton would be tempted to appoint her husband, Bill Clinton, to the United States Supreme Court. A Hillary Clinton administration would facilitate a continuation of the damage already perpetrated against our Constitution by her husband’s administration. A Barack Obama Administration We have no actual record on which to judge Barack Obama (he destroyed his records from when he was an Illinois State Senator and he hasn’t stewarded anything of substance in the US Senate) so we have to judge him at his word and deed. Obama would be extremely weak on the global war against radical Islamism. He has stated that he would remove US forces from the field of battle in Iraq within 90 days of being sworn in, even as we stand at the brink of a great victory in the Iraqi theater. Obama has parroted the very same “change” mantra – a false promise of hope – which Bill Clinton advanced in 1992, again without actually advancing a substantive policy or platform. This demonstrates that he is untested in his leadership and willing to use the tools of political opportunism to achieve his personal goals. Perhaps most disturbingly, he has advanced a racial element in his presidential campaign that exhibits a willingness to divide in order to conquer, a most despicable trait in any politician. Further, his deeds, statements and silence on select issues present serious questions about his ideology. The radical, afro-centric tenets of his church, Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, have never been adequately examined by the main stream media. Couple this with the fact that the leaders of the radical Islamist movement – Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri – have not issued fatwas against Obama for, not only being a Muslim apostate, but for being a Muslim apostate and aspiring to be the leader of “the Great Satan,” the United States of America, and you have a plethora of troubling notions that most certainly cast a shadow on his candidacy. It’s About the Constitution It is crunch time and paraphrasing a line from the film Top Gun, we cannot leave our wingman, even if his perceived liberalism alarms you. It’s our responsibility to examine the realities of the situation and to construct a winning scenario, for it is our duty as American citizens to protect the United States Constitution. So, how do we make chicken salad out of chicken scratch? ? First we focus on pressuring the McCain campaign and especially the Republican National Committee – and I mean applying pressure like we did to Congress and the White House over the immigration and border issue – into seating a true Conservative as McCain’s running mate. This would minimize the damage caused by his candidacy with the prospective protest voters. ? We stand behind the party candidate because he will provide an avenue to defend the Constitution, regardless of his perceived liberalism (having a partially open door to the Executive Branch is better than having a closed door). ? We shift focus to Congress. We need to take back at least one chamber of Congress. If it is to be only one then it must be the Senate. The Senate controls United States Supreme Court nominations, judicial nominations and treaty and accord approvals. If we can attain control of both houses we can effectively govern through opposition (ala Daschle and Reid) and can even advance agendas just as we did in 1995 with Newt Gingrich at the helm. If we focus our efforts on Congress and John McCain loses the presidential election we will have control of at least one chamber of Congress. If we focus our efforts on Congress and McCain wins Conservatives in Congress will be able to institute a policy of supporting McCain in his Conservative positions and opposing him in his liberal ones, empowering that opposition with the ability to over-ride a veto should Republicans take back the House. Ironically, this will move to re-establish the Constitutional delineation between the branches of government. The reason it is so important to have “R” behind the name in the White House, even a perceived Liberal-Republican’s name, is that it sets up an incumbent-like stage for Conservatives in the next election cycle. As everyone knows, it is easier to run a political campaign as an incumbent — or from an incumbent-like platform — than to challenge. Ideological Optimism I do not believe the Conservative movement to be one that is dying. I believe we have an enormous amount of work to do and that we will have to be smart this election cycle to make sure we aren’t “zeroed-out” altogether, but I do not believe we are seeing our last days. The immediate concern facing the Conservative movement is the restructuring of the Republican primary process. We must make sure that the most Conservative states are positioned to affect the most influence over slating our candidates. This can be achieved by promoting a primary schedule that rewards states with early primaries based on their pro-Republican/pro-Conservative voter turnout from the most recent presidential election. This would serve as a catalyst for maximizing voter turnout by the state parties and would discourage crossover voting. It would also assure that Conservative voters have the most influence in the selection of national candidates. Perhaps I’m being optimistic or perhaps I just trust in the ability of future generations to grasp the logic of the American ideal when it is presented to them in language they can understand. But the key to re-establishing the American ideal — where Conservatives and Liberals alike are free to pursue the advance of their ideologies — is our youth. We must be smart enough to be able to take one step back and two steps forward. Investing in the next generation, in the next election, in achieving what we can and positioning ourselves for future victories is being smart. Dedicated Conservatives are taking a shot in the teeth this election cycle and we only have ourselves to blame. We aren’t cohesive and we are in danger of achieving total defeat should we remain so. But now is not the time to bury Conservatism. Now is the time to be smart, to take the best we can get, to achieve the best possible outcome that can be attained. Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in the White House, for all the reasons cited, if not for only one of them, is reason enough to make sure that we come together this election so we can operate from a position of strength in 2012. Now, take some St. John’s Wart and get back in the saddle. From the ashes rises the phoenix. |

Captain Amnesty or: How I learned to love Hillary and stop worrying about losing.
My posting to soc.men. And yes, I’m serious:
Captain Amnesty: Or How I Learned to Love Hillary Clinton
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past week, John McCain is most likely the Republican nominee.
I, like most conservatives, had misgivings about all the candidates but saying McCain is a flawed Republican is like saying that frogs are flawed princes. I’d consider him an excellent Democrat candidate.
The problem is that he’s running as a Republican.
Speaking of frogs: For some time Republican voters have been stuck with moderate candidates that have undermined conservativism. George Bush I, Bob Dole, GB II. They’ve been shoved down our throat with the mantra: “Well, they’re at least better than a democrat!” We were boiled like the frog with the thermostat gradually raised and staying in the jar because of the threat: “If you jump out, you might get into hot water.”
But that’s not the case anymore. It’s hard to figure out where McCain _isn’t_ a Democrat. Even Hillary continues to support the Iraq war. Other than the fact that she’s never been a Vietnam war POW, they are essentially the same.
Voting for moderates all along has been fraught with the danger that corrupt “good ol’ boy” elements would take that to mean that conservatives could be counted on to be manipulated by fear. Give them a bone, here or there, and they’ll do tricks.
No more. This frog is too hot.
When I first decided to vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton, friends, family, and collegues called me insane.
But the longer I thought about it, the more I liked it. As Eric Idle put it: “Always look on the bright side of life.” There are some nice things about people like me voting for Hillary Clinton:
1) It gets me to the polls. I will vote for conservative candidates who can oppose a liberal president irregardless of who wins the presidency. Trying to sell a “hold your nose and vote McCain” will result in many conservatives staying home.
2) It sends a strong numerical message. Many others feel the same way and we have publicity. Ann Coulter’s stance on the matter has gotten national coverage. The NeoCons will take notice when their hero loses the presidency spectacularly but conservatives win in many districts. Before, they could pretend that a protest vote for Hillary actually meant that they wanted MORE liberal NeoCon candidates, not less. Now we have numbers on our side. (A washingtontimes ad shows _30_% of other voters feel the same way.)
3) Hillary is a horrid candidate for the Democrats. Hell, Obama’s “fairy tale” “JFK” candidacy also shows a lack of realistic politics. The Democrats have largely been ineffective presidents for their agenda compared to moderates outreach from moderate republicans. They get the blame for their liberal policies without being able to pin them on the republicans. (Yes, I know the press will do their best to mitigate the damage, but it will be harder now.)
4) Pretty damn tough to “lose.” Democrats flooded the primaries and if that’s an indication, along with the lackluster turnouts for McCain due to lack of enthusiasm AS WELL AS suicide voters such as me, he’s going down baby! Yeah! It’s neat to feel that I have an advantage in my agenda going to the polls and I’m sure other conservatives feel this way as well.
5) There’s a risk, I’ve heard, that voting for conservative candidates but leaving the presidential ballot blank might result in it being labeled “incomplete” and tossed out. Sorry, but for the best sake of conservatism I have to vote Hillary. I’m sure McCain who claims to be in support of conservatism will understand…
All these factors indicate that for the best interests of conservatism, it’s best to show up and vote against McCain. ABM: Anyone But McCain!
There’s another funny twist to this: The Democrats may feel the same way about Hillary or even Obama. Many southern voters in the primaries didn’t vote for the Mittens due to prejudice against his Mormon background. The same will no doubt go for race and gender. Many Democrats may decide that a woman or black in the white house might be taking things too far and will want McCain (someone they know is a democrat anyway) to work for their interests and undermine the republican party at the same time.
That leads to:
6) The exciting possibility of an election where a deciding margin of candidates are voting AGAINST their party’s nominee. I think that’s just such a gas!
7) Hillary and Obama must know this is going on and are drooling over the prospect of the Democrat primary effectively deciding who the next president is. It’s going to get nasty from here on out folks. We may find a lot of skeletons in BOTH of their closets. That will make them even weaker as a standing president.
I’m sure liberals are excited at the prospect as well as getting in the white house. Hmmm, I seem to remember them excited about winning the House and the Senate too. How did that work out? Oh, wait, we’re still in Iraq, Amnesty got busted, congressional approval ratings are below George Bush’s (and that’s saying something.)
For the first time since Reagan, I’m excited about voting. I’m going to put a Republicans for Hillary bumper sticker on my car. I’m going to have fun. I’m going to knock on Democrat’s doors and proclaim I’m a Hillary supporter. I’m going to FREAK THEM OUT!
God, this is so friggin’ great!
Loyalty SHOULD be a two way street. I’m not going to show loyalty while being shit-on.
One last thought:
By capitulating and settling for a lib in GOP’s clothing (like McCain and Dubyah) you’re simply picking the slower road to hell. You’re also setting yourself up to be used like a little bitch.
By standing firm on your principles (what-a-concept! how unamerican!) EVEN AT THE EXPENSE OF A LOSS it will FORCE the GOP to come back next election and court conservatives again with a REAL conservative candidate.
Using this tactic IS OUR ONLY SHOT at getting off the slow train to hell of constantly electing Dubyah’s and McCains to keep “the other guy” out.
If anything I think your view Frank and GreatMRNI is emotional:”Keep Hillary out! Keep Hillary out!”
Those of us against the practice of capitulation you support are:
A. standing by our principles
B. taking the long view
C. not being used like little bitches
D. thinking (actually) very logically
By contrast I think you two are:
A. selling out your core principles
B. taking the short view
C. showing that you will take this over and over again by the GOP
D. being very emotional
Good call Denise on the name calling. That is the battle cry of those with weak arguments. When I post on feminist boards I usually get:
“Like I care what you say! You’re a misogynist bigot! {And if I discredit you I don’t have to deal head on with your much better arguments}”
Thought bubble added, lol
I’m glad Frank and MRNI weren’t the leaders in the 1700’s or we’d still be an english colony.
Only support a candidate that you believe in.
Ron Paul 2008!
Help us Obi-Ron, you’re our only hope!
“GreatMRNI said,
Frank your article is spot on. Thanks for coherently communicating an intelligent and insightful view point on John McCain’s potential republican presidential nomination.
The emotional response from many republican pundits is quite disturbing. This is a time for the Republican Party and America to stand united, otherwise, divided we fall. I’m beginning to question the integrity and intelligence of many of these republican political pundits in the news media. I’m concerned their ill-logical rants are negatively influencing the masses.”
Survival? That’s all you aspire too? So, if in the stone age if you were in a city beseiged and about to be taken over and the opposing army said everybody can surrender and live on as permanent a$$ slaves to the conquering soldiers, or die defending apparently you would be one of the ones saying: survival is all I need.
It’s NOT enough to “settle” for JUST survival. If the GOP turns it’s back on it’s primary constituency then we should do the same. How does it help to SUPPORT the party that will bring us to socialism in 20 years instead of the one that brings us there in ten? We already did this with Dubyah.
What was his solution to illegal immigration? A national ID card! Have you “papers” comrade?
Frank, that was a long post. But I was looking for one particular statement. As I continued reading and scanning I knew I would find it and I did:
“? We stand behind the party candidate because he will provide an avenue to defend the Constitution, regardless of his perceived liberalism (having a partially open door to the Executive Branch is better than having a closed door).”
THE REST of your article was window dressing for the tired old concept “vote for the lesser of two evils.”
I have two words for you: NO MORE
Conservatives are not as stupid as they once were. NO MORE will I vote for a candidate (like the current idiot in the white house) who I DON’T BELIEVE will make a good president! Only a candidate that I believe is FIT FOR OFFICE deserves my vote!
If the dumbocrats win, it’s the gop’s fault for not selecting a better candidate! I’m sick of this “vote for the lesser of two evils because you don’t want the OTHER evil to win”.
NO MORE!
It’s like saying: well one of these guys is going to a$$rape you with a 10″ dildo and one’s going to a$$rape you with a 5″ dildo. You better vote, or you’ll get the 10incher! Why should I SUPPORT being a$$raped?
No thanks, I’m holding out for the guy with the Preparation H.
At this point I have decided to ONLY vote for either Ron Paul a true constitutional reformist who has vowed to overturn Nafta, defeat the Nafta superhighway, and eliminate the federal income tax by axing unconstitutional (90%) government programs.
If Paul isn’t available on any ticket, I just may vote for Obama (if available) if for no other reason because he has stated he will go to a flat tax. This system is the most fair to poor people, but the population has been hoodwinked into believing it actually will hurt the poor.
And if Obama creates a bunch of “afro-centrist” programs, maybe that actually might be for the better! I think liberals played the HUGEST shell-game in history to enact all these minority programs–but counted white women as a discriminated against minority. How the largest demographic group that has the most advantages, is the most coddled, the most pampered counted as a discriminated minority can only be done in upside-down bizarro world!
Maybe if there are more programs to: keep black father’s raising the kids they father (other than when with white women that is), give black children after school programs to stay out of gangs, and start programs for welfare-to-work programs for single mothers the U.S. might be a better place!
Besides which, conservatives already did the “vote for the lesser of two evils” thing with Dubyah AND LOOK HOW THAT TURNED OUT!
So…are we going to unite behind McCain?
I frankly don’t care who gets elected anymore. The indisputable fact is that over at least the next 4 years we will have a liberal in the White House. Any liberal will do damage. Of course it won’t look that way because the media will paint a different picture while he/she is in office-as long as it’s a Democrat. But the demographics and the huge economic challenges facing America will not go away. America’s will one day wake up and realize that there no longer is someone else able to pay for something a politician promises them. We will face huge economic challenges from India and China who have a very large and very young labor force. We have enormous fiscal disadvantages in this country resulting from the feminist onslaught on America. The middle class over the next 10 years is gonna get killed. Go ahead and believe Hillary, or Obama, or McCain has the answer. They will simply sell to you the one thing that they can sell to you: talk. In the meantime you are gonna get an F-ing like you have never seen before. American’ s are going to be very very disillusioned over the next 4-8 years and that will create the conditions for a Reagan-like politician. Maybe we will have one then and maybe we won’t. One thing is for sure-life is gonna get more difficult for the middle class. That’s what happens when you expect politicians, especially Senators without any friggin’ economcs knowledge or experience, to lead.
I would love to see Hillary win by a landslide. Maybe 75% of the vote or so. Totally give him the whooping he so richly deserves and let him crawl away in shame back to Arizona.
Conservative colleagues are laughing that we haven’t had this much fun in years. Since Reagan, it’s always been about holding our nose and dealing emotionally with the risk of defeat. Now, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Unless Democrats start doing what we’re doing to avoid a Hillary disaster, McCain is going lose. And even then, the fun of both sides voting for each other’s candidates is one for the history books.
Thanks McCain. You’ve made politics fun again. Now where did I put those rotten tomatoes?
“Well I won’t back down
No I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
No I’ll stand my ground, won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin me down
gonna stand my ground
… and I won’t back down
Chorus:
(I won’t back down…)
Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out
(and I won’t back down…)
hey I will stand my ground
and I won’t back down
Well I know what’s right, I got just one life
in a world that keeps on pushin me around
but I’ll stand my ground
…and I won’t back down”

Like I said-people without an argument resort to name calling. McCain will tell conservatives what they want to hear to get elected. After that, expect the same ol’e traitorous McCain. Deporting 10-20 million illegals will not hurt the economy- it will result in job opportunities at a higher pay for American citizens, it will allow American’s to go to the front of the line in the hospital emergency ward. Deporting 10-20 million illegals will ensure that upwards of 100 million additional relatives of illegals will not overrun this country. The more I see the hostility towards conservatives from McCain supporters the more aggressively I give McCain the middle finger.
Thank you, GreatMRNI, for showing precisely why I will be voting for Hillary in 2008.
I’d rather kiss the hags hand than McCain’s a** just because he made half-hearted promises to move to the right. If it’s too “complex” for McCain to make a conservative stand on immigration, then it’s also too “complex” for conservatives to figure out how to get to the polls to vote for him. You know, we just can’t program our VCR or get our car keyes plus we have to feed the cat. You understand…
I guess you have a point: It would be devestating to this country’s economy if all the illegal immigrant’s children were taken out of the schools and taxes were lowered. How AWFUL! Oh, and crime. How could our country survive without MS13? And lepracy. Yes LEPRACY. We’re having outbreaks of it with all these illegals flowing over the border. Yeah, lord knows we really needed that too.
In the meantime, the estrogen and panties slurs fit in with the “honorable” “straight talk” McCain’s contempt for conservatives who disagree with him.
Good job. The Democrats are a shoe-in for President in 2008. All thanks to McCain. That will be a great historical legacy for him: The RINO LOSER! Put that on his tombstone in Arlington…
Wow, the estrogen levels are high today. I didn’t write the article, Frank did, but I’m in agreement.
If you people want to kiss the hag’s (-ass-), go right ahead (I suspect for some of you that particular position, is indeed, your favorite). Kissing hag (-ass-) leads to testicular shrinkage and bad breath, but who am I to judge.
John McCain is politically right of center and moving right. As president he will continue to be pulled right as we are observing currently.
The illegal immigration issue is more complex than most seem to understand. Let’s suffice it to say that deporting 20-12 million people would be devastating to this country’s economy, if not done over a long period of time (about ten years).
I’m not going to get into a pissing contest with anybody here. However, I do enjoy reading that some of your panties are bunching up.
It’s easy to spot an argument that does not hold water when the commentator uses name-calling and labels to describe the other side rather than try and understand the other side.
“We will be acting emotionally instead of intellectually; exactly as the Liberal Left wants us to.”
That best describes people who vote for McCain because he is not Obama and Clinton.
The GOP is a Party of specific Values & Beliefs. It is not a Party of specific individuals.
Among these ideas:
A belief in smaller-limited government.
A belief in lower taxation.
A belief in free speech.
A belief in the sanctity of citizenship and the rights of a sovereign nation.
A belief that judges interprt the Constitution strictly and not push their agenda.
I all of these McCain fails. Why the hell should I go against my values and beliefs just so Satan does not get into office? GWB fractured the GOP. McCain has stuck his thumb in the eye of the GOP for years. He will further harm the GOP (and it’s Values & Beliefs) if elected. How is the problem me? It isn’t.
Let McCain go down in flames. I don’t care. It isn’t about winning the contest no matter what. It’s about principles, values, and beliefs. McCain is the traitor-not me. McCain should change-not me.
I’m concerned their ill-logical rants are negatively influencing the masses.
“Vote for McCain, you ill-logical ranter. He’s the best path for America. Well, the slightly lesser of two roads straight to hell, anyway.”
Yeah, good luck with that message.
Hillary for 2008!
Coherent logical ## re#3onse??? Why I’ll show yousdjkl y#$ what an inTEL33int damn, sh3444t, bast3### GodD3@#@# ##DDD response is!
I’m concerned their ill-logical rants are negatively influencing the masses.
It should be clear to all that John McCain is the best path to continued safety, prosperity, and a Great future for America. Mitt Romney understands this very well, as do you.
I have truly tried to see the issue from your persepective, Frank. Yes, we all talk big and shoot off our mouths when castastrophes like this happen. (“Ahm gonna enlist and put a bullet in Bin Laden’s head, mahsef!”). So, even if I were to say, “I’m gonna pull the lever on ol’ sparky for Billary!” I likely won’t when it comes time to take the cyanide.
On the other hand, I’d like to see my government, the Republicrats, all debating healthcare for the luxury resort-goers in Guantanamo, when **WHAM** a nuke just wipes it out. Yes, I know, it’s cruel, it’s sadistic, it’s beyond the pale. And there are good people–excellent people–in our government and courts, etc. I’m sure God will protect those ones with a special shield made of pure nutronium. Even full-on phasers can’t cut through that.
But the slow, excrutiatingly painful, cancerous death that I’m forced to watch my country undergo–a la Clockwork Orange–is far more cruel and sadistic. How many people and families are suffering economically and self-destruct because the pigs deport our jobs? How many families are aborted in the womb because the pigs grant the Fed the freedom to screw with the economy for the benefit of the bank cartel, thereby making it impossible for a couple to support the unit? How many citizens have no say in their country because the pigs have made them serfs and servants to foreign invaders in their own land?
Government pigs wearing both the scarlet letters have insulated themselves, have erected the machinery to protect themselves, and are one small step from malignant dictatorship. At the present, it is benign. So I’m supposed to just work with it and make the best of it? Just drink a cup of instant smile and do the jig. At some point I have to say “No, I’m not kissing your boot. ” And so the country falls over the socialist cliff? What power do I have to stop that? Our schools are producing millions of vacuous little robots, programmed to hate freedom, hate free speech, and hate this country. I know, because I’ve taught for many years in the colleges and universities. They’re being manufactured by the millions like those ugly dudes erupting from the mud in Tolstoy’s classic. That’s exactly what’s happening.
The left wins (which has nothing to do with “R” or “D”)–on destruction of the family, on destruction of the courts, on desctruction of the schools, on destruction of the Constitution, ad naseum. It wins becase it is the dirt that destroys a watch, the rust that destroys a machine, the corrosion that destroys plumbing, the termites that destroy a house. And entropy wins when otherwise good people do nothing. Which is exactly what our good citizens have done over the decades because–well, life is just soooo good with 500 digital channels and Tivo. You know, probably over half of the people in the twin towers voted for Bill Clinton, who was as responsible as anyone could be said to be for that disaster.
That said, don’t really know what method of suicide I’ll use come (pre-s)election day. Maybe Jesus will come back before then.
McCain, if he cared about the America, would withdraw.
Conservatives are being b****-slapped around by neocons and wimps who say “Just go along to get along, baby. We don’t want to lose the war in Iraq!”
Yet, shouldn’t it be _they_ who should compromise? McCain is going to lose. 100%. Conservatives don’t trust him and all the BS he puts on the air and the endorsements he gets from sweet talking on the hill isn’t going to change enough minds otherwise to get him elected. The Democrats are going to SWARM the polls (especially if Obama is nominated.) He’s the Bob Dole of 2008. Literally. “Bob Dole knows how to play ball in Washington. Bob Dole likes to raise taxes. Bob Dole likes talking about Bob Dole. You vote for Bob Dole because you have to. Bob Dole.”
Hey, “calm down” neocons. Tee hee. Get it? YOU LOSE! “Get over it”!
Now, that said, wouldn’t it be best to get conservatives out to the polls to vote for candidates in the House and Congress to offset and mitigate damage from a Democrat presidency? Of course it would. But the only way to get them out would be a truly HONORABLE gesture from McCain that doesn’t rely upon milking his POW record. Withdraw, Captain Amnesty. Show you REALLY have principles. Show you REALLY care about America!
Oh, wait, of course he can’t. Because he only cares about his precious political career built upon a “practiced” hand of “compromise” and selling out his electorate. And this will become MORE and MORE obvious as time goes by as he loses support and spirals on down. Eventually, most loyal party conservatives will run for cover away from him. Even then, he won’t quit because of WHAT he is. A traitor. A Democrat.
And a loser.
And he’ll wind up taking the foolish Neocons with him. Good going Captain Amnesty!
Hillary for President, 2008!
What must it be like to be Hillary or Obama?
I was just thinking… this must be a fantasy time for Democrats in the primaries. They aren’t just voting for their candidate, they’re pretty much voting for the next President of the United States by default. It’s like the Olympics qualifiers being transformed INTO the Olympics.
Compromise… THIS!!!
blah blah blah blah. “Politics is compromise” “Just sit down and shut up!” “This is what the left wants!” “It’s all YOUR fault!” “You don’t want Hillary! Do what we say!” Yeah yeah yeah. Heard it all before.
I am neither impressed nor enthusiastic to beg for scraps from McCain’s table while his “practiced hand” hand feeds the best cuts to Hillary.
On the other hand, watching his campaign go down in flames and Hillary walk in triumphantly similar to Darth Vader in the opening scene of Star Wars is truly inspiring. While I’m at the polls pulling the lever for Hillary, I’ll vote for conservative senators and congressmen. Otherwise, I’d wind up staying home.
I can see it now… Captain Amnesty crying his eyes out. No prettier sight in the world. Maybe he’ll make the concession telephone call en Espaniol. “To lose gracefully in English, press 1…”
This is going to be a funny election: It may be decided by the number of Obama supporters voting for McCain (since he’s the best Democrat they have running for office!) and conservatives voting for Hillary (since she’s also the best weapon against the Democrats we have.)
Tee hee. Burn baby burn!
Oh, one more thing: The emotion of fear about Hillary being the worst thing in the world and voting for a liberal is also an emotion. I like the emotion of a destructive warrier more. Hmmm, how can we trust someone whose terrified of standing up to illegal aliens from Mexico as worthy of commander in chief to “stay the course” in Iraq? Shouldn’t we just “compromise” and have Bin Laden pay a $2500 fine?
