February surprise? New York Times trying to gin up scandal on McCain

Here we go again with another political scandal, compliments of the New York Times, our national paper of record. Call it an October surprise, only seven months early. But then they can never start too early in their efforts to smear the Republican candidate, even if it’s the one they endorsed. Following is a small sample of the story and here’s a link to the whole lurid thing.

WASHINGTON — Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.

A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, visiting his offices and accompanying him on a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s client, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.

Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship. But to his advisers, even the appearance of a close bond with a lobbyist whose clients often had business before the Senate committee Mr. McCain led threatened the story of redemption and rectitude that defined his political identity.

You get the idea. The NYT got the Republican candidate it hoped for, now it’s time to tear him down, paving the way for Obama’s coronation. Yes, the Times endorsed Hillary back in January, but that’s ancient history and umpteen Obama primary victories ago, the country having since gone ga-ga over the charismatic Illinois senator’s mesmerizing “change” mantra.

But is there anything to this alleged scandal story, shot through with innuendo and thinly sourced? Not according to attorney Bob Bennett, the registered Democrat who is representing McCain. You may also remember that he represented President Clinton in the Lewinsky scandal, so he’s not exactly a member of the vast right-wing conspiracy. See the video of him debunking the NYT allegations.

Also check out ALLAHPUNDIT’s complete coverage of the “sex scandal that may not be a scandal tucked inside an ethics scandal that was a genuine scandal 20 years ago, and for which McCain has begged forgiveness ever since.”

It’s not officially election season until the New York Times publishes its first smear on whoever the leading Republican candidate is.

McCain is probably guilty as sin on this. He wants to impress his feminist friends in order to get sex and this is why laws like IMBRA and VAWA got passed. This is why the New York Times endorsed him. They correctly surmised that idiot Republicans would vote for him in the primaries if the left wing paper of record asked them to.

Republicans have nobody to blame but themselves.

I will do what I can to make sure McCain is not elected. He would keep the anti-male cabal in Washington well funded otherwise.

Of course, Obama would do the same…but at least then a new breed of Republican would be in opposition and condemning that.

Keep an eye out for the new breed of Congressional candidate, who is a lot more libertarian and honest than these lobbyist bedding senators who think they are so virile but are really only jumping when the feminists tell them to jump.

I honestly believe that what was going on in the brains of McCain voters in the primaries was this:

They thought that, even if they didn’t really like him, if the New York Times endorsed him, then the indpendents would like him and the New York Times would be nice to him through the election season…which would help him keep the White House in Republican hands.

Crazy thought…and borne of desperation. They should have known that the New York Times owners are radical left wingers who have no intention of seeing another Republican administration in their lifetime.

Those older Republican voters (those who didn’t read the Internet voted for McCain) behaved like Charlie Brown when Lucy holds the football for him to kick and then lifts it at the last second.

Anyone who reads the Internet knew 100% that the New York Times endorsement was a deliberate attempt to fool people into chosing someone that even the Drudgereport had announced the New York Times had the goods on.

You will notice that they waited until after McCain “secured” the nomination.

Now what I predict happening is that, since most of the delegates pledged to McCain are personally interested in Ron Paul, that they break their pledge and vote for Ron Paul in September. Most state party rules say that, if a delegate breaks the pledge and votes for someone else, that delegate will never be allowed to be a delegate again for the Republican Party.

But so what? None of these delegates cares about such a punishment. Their vote against McCain will still count.
