The Race Card May Have Been Dealt, But Who’s Playing It?

By Frank Salvato
Just before the South Carolina Democrat primary there was a great deal of talk about the Clinton campaign having played the “race card.” Not too many people flinched at the thought and rightfully so; the Clinton’s have a vicious and relentless political attack machine. But looking at the voter demographics from the states that compiled data based on “race,” it would seem that even though the Clinton’s may have dealt the “race card,” it is the black community that is playing it…all across the country.

Where some among the disingenuous Left will try to characterize this as a criticism of Barack Obama’s campaign, it is not. I have a complete and potent set of arguments against electing Barack Obama to the highest office in the land, among them: his lack of tangible experience leading anything, his lack of significant political achievement, his affection for Marxist ideology in the form of his emulation of Saul Alinsky and Frank Marshall Davis and his pilfered penchant for manipulating the more susceptible among the American people with his hollow rhetoric of Clintonian “change” and “hope.” That Obama is unqualified to be President of the United States is an understatement of the most dramatic kind, but this missive is not about Obama’s lack of qualifications.

No matter where we go in the United States it is hard to escape the insincere blathering of those who promote tolerance and diversity, the American Fifth Column. We see commercials that promote racial, cultural, religious and sexually oriented harmony but the fact is it is less practiced than we would be led to believe. To prove this point all one has to do is dress up like a Marine and walk down the streets of Berkeley. Or try to bring up a cogent point that takes issue with one of the more vulnerable points of Al Gore’s argument about global warming in Los Angeles. Or try to explain to the Columbia University faculty why those who hide behind the false label of the “religion of peace” should answer for their committed atrocities against not only women in their culture but against all those who do not submit to the will of Allah. Try employing any of these actions, and more, in the presence of the American Fifth Column and you will be branded a murderer, a truth denier, a bigot, a racist.

But getting back to the “race card” issue…

Where racial diversity and “colorblindness” is concerned there seems to be an inordinate amount of hypocrisy emanating from the black community. Now, don’t think for a second that you can get away with calling me a racist. That would be to expose a “knee-jerk reaction mentality,” prevalent among those in the American Fifth Column. Where the issues of race is concerned I am in step with the thinking of Ward Connerly, former University of California Regent, who believes that in order to erase the race issue from the American lexicon we must “erase race.” That everyone would understand the brilliance of that statement.

The truth of the matter is that the American Fifth Column race-baiters – socio-political charlatans like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (and panders like the Clintons) – demand that all other ethnic communities strive to become colorblind while they do very little to move their culture to the middle as well. This is not to say that there aren’t good people in the black community trying to motivate their brethren to quest for goodness and it isn’t a declaration that a people has to move away from their cultural origins to “fit in” to society. There are good people, concerned people, like Bill Cosby who gets heckled all the time for telling the truth about the societal short comings of the urban black culture. And it is a good thing to remember from whence you came, both the bad and the good. But at the end of the day we must move beyond the mental barriers of race so that we can stand together as Americans on the world stage because that’s the way the world sees us.

It is because I believe in “erasing race” and becoming cohesive as an American society – unique in the world – that this Democrat primary contest is proving to be quite disturbing indeed.

Data compiled by the New York Times through local and state election commissions – where available – about the racial breakdown of voters in Democrat primaries reveal a stunning preferential bias within the black community for Barack Obama:

California
Obama State Total: 42.5%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 81%

Connecticut
Obama State Total: 50.7%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 74%

Florida
Obama State Total: 33.0%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 73%

Georgia
Obama State Total: 66.4%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 89%

Illinois
Obama State Total: 64.6%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 94%

Iowa
Obama State Total: 37.6%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 72%

Maryland
Obama State Total: 59.7%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 84%

Massachusetts
Obama State Total: 40.8%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 66%

Missouri
Obama State Total: 49.2%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 76%

New Jersey
Obama State Total: 44.0%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 82%

New York
Obama State Total: 39.9%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 63%

South Carolina
Obama State Total: 55.4%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 78%

Virginia
Obama State Total: 63.6%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 89%

National Averages
Obama State Total: 49.8%
Blacks Voting for Obama: 78.5%

This would be less alarming if Barack Obama was a man of deep intellect or if he was showcasing implementable solutions for the problems facing our country, but he isn’t. He is a man of little accomplishment peddling hollow rhetoric that panders to the vulnerable and he just so happens to be half black. In looking at the primary voting breakdown of the data available concerning race, it is undeniable that the black community is voting for Obama because he is black and for little else.

If the charlatan race-baiters like Jackson and Sharpton want to expand their shelf-life with the American people they would be wise to counsel the black community to begin practicing the diversity and tolerance that they have been demanding of the rest of us. Further, if the true leaders in the black community want to prove that the days of racism and special interest are over – as Obama opines – then they would be wise to start scrutinizing Obama’s words instead of sitting silently on the racial divide as a blatant act of racism decides who leads the free world.

  2. panic

Obama is going to precipitate bad behavior among his constituency (i.e., blacks) to a degree that only residents of some large cities have ever seen.
The worst damage will be in places like New York (guilt-struck white mayor, huge black population), in which the street crime, quality-of-life offenses should begin within days of his inauguration – if not of his election. This happened quickly after “The Washroom Attendant” (Dinkins) was elected, and he proved me right by suppressing police action and condoning pretty much anything at all (Crown Heights, no drug arrests, etc.).

On the other hand, if Obama loses, whole cities will go up in flames (Washington, Detroit, New York, Philadephia, Newark) within hours “as a legitimate expression of political opinion” (as Sharpton has said on many similar occasions in the past). Look for helpful comments from Obama’s pastor on how to do this, and why it’s acceptable.

    I’m a racist?
Come back here on January 16 2009 and apologize.

I sure would not hold my breath on this happening. These two are a mockery to their own race and to GOD. They call themselves “Reverend” but I see nothing reverend about either of them. We have seen them go balllistic over a name but then they cried for a mob to lynch a whole sports team for the supposed actions of a few and when that proved to be false after making a known liar a hero, they were no where to be found

This alone should make them “has beens” not that either of them ever were anything to brag about.

  4. So we have these choices.

One choice is a man who understands the hardships that black people face in America and will do his best to represent their interests as a race in this country.

Another choice is a candidate who understands the hardships that women face in America and will do her best to represent their interests as a gender in this country.

Our last (viable) choice is a man who understand the hardships that white men face….nope, not really. He can’t represent white men, because that would be racist. He can’t represent men in general because that would be sexist. Nope, he will have no choice but to proclaim (and very loudly) that he will represent all Americans equally and fairly, because we all know he would not want to miss his chance to be President because of being either a racist or a sexist male.

    **********

Yeah, Blacks are so “racist” that they’ll always vote for a Black Presidential candidate JUST BECAUSE he’s Black.

That explains why Doug Wilder did so well in 1992. And Al Sharpton & Carol Mosely Braun got so many votes in 2000. Not to mention the legions of Blacks who crossed party lines in 96 & 2000 to vote for Alan Keyes.

Yep. Any Black person running for President can automatically count on getting most Blacks to vote for them…

  6. Free Man

Yet we have been continually – continually to the point that it makes nearly every discussion about an Obama presidency – presented with the query, “but will whites vote for Obama?” insinuating that white racism against blacks is self-evident, all-pervasive, and THE issue of the 2008 presidential election.

Not to be outdone by the elusive holy grail of the all-important ‘Latino vote’.

Unless, it is the line “but is America ready for a woman President?”

I fondly reflect upon a teacher I had in grade school, who rather than tell us who was running for class president, vice-president, etc., wrote the student-candidates’ personal qualifications in columns on the chalkboard, without indicating the name of the person identified with each column, asking that we cast our vote based upon this criteria alone.
