The UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has made a speech to UK Labour party members as part of his party’s spring conference. In the speech he made several commitments, which he said he would “work tirelessly” to achieve.

On the subjects of employment and welfare, Mr.Brown said that his party “will offer new entitlements to the carers that serve this country [the UK] so well. He continued by saying that since Labour came to power in 1997, three million new jobs have been created. He also said that Labour will attempt to get 100,00 people back to work.

When discussing crime in the speech, Mr.Brown claimed that his party has “already cut crime by 32%.” He also made promises of community policing across the UK.

At the end of the speech, Mr.Brown said that the United Kingdom should not ignore poverty in third world countries, he said that the Labour party will work to enable all children in the world to have an education.

Mr Brown is so full of b\s I don’t know where to begin!! As for his bragging about creating jobs he doesn’t mention that since his party came to power 1 in 5 jobs are a direct result of the massive expansion of what we Brits call the ‘public sector’ – some have it that the real figure is nearer that 1 in 4 jobs are now paid for by the taxpayer. As for cutting crime by 32% – I’d say that has much more to do with the way that crimes are now recorded than any REAL drop.

Interesting article title. I’m shocked, surprised, and bewildered that Gordon Brown would make a speech as part of a Labour Party conference. (not)

    TigerMan,

That sounds like Olof Palme, Social Democrat who ran Sweden from 1969 – 1986. Then somebody shot him.
