I personally think it’s amusing that women are being just as ‘devious’ as men to meet their biological urges. What’s the difference between a man telling you he loves you so that he can satisfy HIS biological urge for sex, and a woman telling you she’s on birth control to meet HER biological urge for sex?
“Children are the NATURAL product of sex but our society has so many social constructs in place, and tells all young men to go forth and copulate without consequences, that we’ve forgotten that. The real issue here is that our patriarchal society can’t deal with the fact that men have lost control of a number of their women, after years of being able to have their cake and eat it too.
“What’s more, a large number of single by choice women earn more money than the majority of men, so ‘going after their pay check’ is not a motivation for becoming pregnant, and men are kidding themselves if they think it is.
“The bottom line here is I think it’s inherently sad that society ENCOURAGES men to sleep around without taking responsibility for contraception, ENCOURAGES men not to marry women their own age, ENCOURAGES women to take control of their destiny, and then burns a woman at the stake when the most precious blessing imaginable, a child, is bought into this world.
“From what the majority of men on this board have to say, the main issue of an unexpected pregnancy that they resent is having to pay for a child. If you didn’t have to pay, would you even care?”

I don’t agree with all of the comments above but have to say I do agree with the general tenant that if your gonna play be ready to pay. A good and respected colleague of mine has just told me he is going to be a father and he has no interest in the mother or getting married. He said that he was using contraception, that she was getting the shots depo prevera shots that are 97% effective. No condom. I just couldn’t believe this when I heard it and decided not to badger him with the stupidity. He told me he will support and parent the child, which I know he will. I guess whats done is done, but how careless in so many ways.
As a man I have never slept around with random women, if it was up to me Id just have one woman in my life. I think there are many men that are not promiscuous.
I have seen many men marry older women, years, even a good decade older. Just b/c there appears to be a trend on popular culture does not necessarily mean its true. I doubt the men that have married older women have a need to make much noise in the media about it.

I am quite surprised that Men’s News Daily would even publish these views from a “delusional” feminist whereas views of an opposite nature would be automatically deleted on 95% of the feminist websites.
Counterpoint:
Of course, men who help to create a life (whether it be sleeping around or via traditional marriage)should step up to the plate an assume their part in raising and supporting their children. But the author of the article lives in fantasy land.

Other than pop tart female movie stars who earn a considerable amount of money and think that children are toys to be discarded at a later time, the author should ask average female “sperm bandit” (e.g. single by choice) who supposedly earns more money than most men how quick they are to run to the legal system and separate a man from his wallet and prevent him from seeing the children. The author should get a clue and realize this is a very common strategy within the judicial system. If a woman who has three different children by three different men, walks into court seeking a raise in child support payments, her request will be granted (with the help of the various govt agencies) without comment or conditions! However, if men walk into court seeking custody or merely visitation rights, they are quickly denied on a regular basis. As in the recent case of a mother who murdered her two children where the fathers of those children told the child welfare people the mother had mental problems and sought custody of the young children. Each father was denied! The author of that column should acquaint herself with a recently published article where it details the strategies employed by most women.

Ruby’s comments might have considerable validity if it weren’t for the 800-lb gorilla in the room: Roe v. Wade. This effectively allows the women to make a secondary decision about whether to have the child. Men are given no such option.
When this is mentioned to women, they reply, virtually to a woman, that “He should have thought about that when he had the sex”. This effectively means that child support payments are not to pay for the child, since Roe v. Wade makes that entirely the woman’s decision. Rather the payments are money given to a prostitute because she agreed to have sexual intercourse with him. Interestingly enough, most men seem to have no problem with this concept but most women go ballistic at its mere mention.
And, who knows, maybe she said at the time that she was on the pill…and she was lying. I suspect that is why Tom Brady is a father now.

WHat she seems to forget.. intentionally I think… is that when a woman “plays”, she can opt out with a miriad of selections… When a man plays, he pays. that is his only option.

Margaret was originally talking about women being able to better control their destinies and not being at the mercy of being perpetually surpised at pregnancy.
Men, I have begun using this in my discussions – but in the opposite position: While men should take control and be responsible for their reproductive destinies – they should also be free from trickery and deception too-often practiced by women.
So I appropriate the cry: Every child a wanted child!

Very interesting how she can used soo many stereotypes about men, but when it comes to women, only positive one.
Times change, women get to choose if they want to keep their kid or not and society has decided that no matter her decision, it must be supported. She can even drop the child and no questions ask in many places.
So, a woman can decide if she want the child before birth and after birth while men have no such choice, and of course its women who are the victim of patriachy here even if they have more choice and power when it comes to reproductive right!!!

There is never any condemnation anymore for a woman acting like a whore. She get pregnant , unmarried and it’s a ok, the man is pond scum for ” knocking her up” and then not wanting to be a parent, even when the “sweat innocent little woman said she was taking the pill” A mans pill will definetly put a dampener on that little racket. As will the advances made by the fathers rights movement. Soon time , technology and changing attitudeds will put an end to the concept that choice is only for women. (This Ruby gal, needs to get in her time maching and go back to the 1950,s)
P.S. When the Mans Pill comes out, I intend to get a truck load for my two sons. Give them the right to decide when they are ready to become fathers and to be able to carefully….carefully choose who the mother will be!
