I extensively (and independently) studied the origins of the second amendment some 20 years ago. I have been a life member of NRA ever since.

The evidence supporting the individual right to keep and bear arms is insurmountable. Clement was in the chamber to do damage control, it was obvious from his comments: "Good god, if you rule incorrectly everyone will want machine guns."

Citizens own weapons, subjects and slaves may not. The beauty of the individual right is precisely this: it leaves ultimate political power dispersed in the hands of the many, where it can only be exercised when sufficient numbers have either had their fill of government or are willing to rise in its support. That is the genesis of the United States, and the only possibility that exists for human freedom.

You're not serious?

Quoting from "Syriana": "what we''re looking for here is the appearance of due diligence".

It's "a mere 30 minutes" because they already know what the decision will be - they only need to flesh it out with some talking points from the arguments, and still make the golf game.

No Federal firearms laws will be struck, because whatever happens the ATF etc. will simply not comply, won't turn over their records.
No US Atty will discontinue or move to dismiss criminal prosecutions already in progress.
No improperly seized weapons will be returned.
In case this is not familiar, the entire Waco incident was the result of ATF trying to arrest Koresh for weapons that a judge had already ruled he was entitled to have - and were returned to him. Why would they behave better now, having received no punishment for 82 deaths?
