Dr. Mary Ruwart & the Memorial Day Weekend Libertarian Convention
Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs) have been in a state of shock over the past two months as the realization set in that this year’s choice of presidential candidates consisted of three Nanny State activists: a maverick back-stabber of men, a left-wing puppet of the feminists and the queen bee of all anti-male feminists.Â
Those who were mildly aware that there will be a Libertarian Party (LP) Presidential Convention around the Memorial Day Weekend from May 22-26th in Denver, were expecting Wayne Allen Root or Christine Smith to win and then disappear from the news.
But some new contestants are vying for the LP nomination. Although none are even honorary MRAs, Bob Barr, Lt. Colonel Karen Kwiatkowski and Dr. Mary Ruwart have announced that they would like to run for President of the United States and some polls show that any of these new candidates might actually win at the LP Convention.
Dr. Mary Ruwart, whose campaign site is www.votemary2008.com, Â is an interesting candidate who is now polling ahead of Wayne Allen Root and Christine Smith. She is famous for having been a pharmaceutical research scientist at Upjohn for 19 years. She has written extensively about how the 1962Â Kefauver-Harris Amendments were *The Law Most Likely to Kill You* because they stop terminally ill patients from being treated with new experimental drugs. She wrote a book called Deadly Secrets discussing this. Dr. Ruwart has the respect of Ron Paul for her book *Healing Our World in An Age of Aggression* which may or may not appeal to the inner-warrior in a lot of us conservative males.
Although she doesn’t seem to have launched any battles with radical feminists, neither have many other libertarian politicians. I cannot find evidence, however, that she has fought for gay marriage while ignoring the fact that polygamy actually has more support. She doesn’t seem to be a schill for the far left.
It would be up to MRAs to find out where she would stand on men’s rights.
Ruwart points out: “Our presidential nominee should be someone who can share the libertarian message with just about anyone in the space of a sound bite.â€
MRAs can write to her at MJRuwart@Ruwart.com
Well, you are up at bat Dr. Ruwart. Good luck at the upcoming Heartland Libertarian Conference April 4-5th at the Intrigue Park Place Hotel in Kansas City.
Maybe some MRAs will attend that conference in Kansas City to make sure that one of the most important issues, men’s rights, is on the agenda.

I may be reading this particular posting wrong, but I have ever expressed an interest in running for president. I did write a tongue in cheek article for LRC once on what a Kwiatkowski Vice Presidency would look like. I also find it interesting that I should be referred to as a favorite of the left wingers. Certainly, I am anti-war, but more than that — or perhaps because of that — I am anti-state. Irredeemably so, I’m afraid. maybe the MRA ie us , needs to create our own party, kinda like Al Bundy only not so ridiculous. A real party that is pro america and freedom, pro father and family and most importantly pro God and morality.
after the people of this country get a load of our candidates, neither Hillary, Obammie or Johnny McCain could get elected. In fact these career thieves could not even get a decent job. ( that is assuming the don’t end up in jail)
Oh there would be some cryin’, mostly by the nanny state types who no longer have a job, since most people will have elected( pardon the pun) to run their own lives and told the state to stay the hell out. I think we might even elected a liberatarian. They seem to understand the the least government is the best government and I whole heartedly agree with that!
