Though this is criticism, please don’t take it as harsh criticism. I do have respect for you and you are free to post whatever you want. I’ve clicked on your name and seen that your posts are varied and cover a range of topics. I guess I see red whenever I see references to L.Borden in your posts. Where is your blog? I can’t find any links to it here.

A lesson there possibly for Denise (and others?). Get too esoteric, and you’ll get a shrinking audience–as it should be.

Variety is great, but you present us with a narrow palette of interests. After several posts about Lizzy Borden I would think the dead horse has been beaten enough. Lizzy Borden and suppressed sexuallity, ok, how about Ozzy Osbourne and drug use, or Pat Benatar and rock music, or Anne Frank and courage/hope when confronted by death, or Norma Jeane Mortensen and celebrity?

It is about “The Turn of the Screw.” It has a Lizzie Borden hook because it was originally written for “THe Hatchet: The Journal of Lizzie Borden Studies.” I write regularly for that publication. They have first dibs on anything they buy from me for six months after which I am free to publish them elsewhere so I put them up on my blog — and this website — to see what sort of feedback I might get on them.
You sound like an intelligent observer, wtexas and I’d be most interested in any observations you have about the meat of this essay which is not about Borden but about the Henry James classic.

Why do you post material like this on this website? 90% of what you post has no bearing on the men’s rights movement. You’re posts seem geared toward older women who enjoy teas and quilting and cats, and I doubt that audience reads mensnewsdaily.

(Denise) Mike LaSalle has given me wide lattitude about what I can post. My posts go on this website at the same time that they go on my blog.
Men and women are not separate species. We have much in common. Men, like women, can be interested in great literature — and that of Henry James is some of the greatest literature in Western culture. We can all enjoy a good ghost story. We can all enjoy psychological horror. We can all be interested in questions having to do with mental illness, sexual repression, and sexuality. We can all be interested in the deep issues raised by Henry James’s classic “The Turn of the Screw” — and we can all contribute to a dialogue on those issues.
