Lest we forget, there are good reasons why some have been committed to training quartz halogen floodlamps on every bit of spume found beneath the rock that is Barack Obama’s campaign for the Democratic nomination, why they shall continue to do so, and why they will focus (or re-focus) attention on whomever comes out as the nominee when circumstances warrant such action.
It’s not that Obama isn’t a particularly grotesque example of political sham and duplicity. He is. The necessity in spotlighting the Illinois senator thus far is in part because his rival, Senator Hillary Clinton, has been under public scrutiny for nearly two decades. Millions of Americans already know she’s evil, which is why her support was weedy from the outset of the campaign and why so many potential voters were susceptible to the carefully-crafted, media-enhanced Obama phenoma.
But back to our “good reasons…”
“We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it!”
- Lesbian activists, Smith College, Northampton, MA - April 29, 2008
Some people must simply like to hear themselves chant. Yes, by now America is used to it, ladies – but this is hardly the point. To elucidate: On April 29, Massachusetts’ Smith College had scheduled a speech featuring author Ryan Sorba, whose upcoming book “The Born Gay Hoax” addresses popular junk science claims and “conventional wisdom” as regards the belief that people are born gay rather than choosing the lifestyle. Sorba had just begun speaking when a bunch of rowdy lesbian activists streamed into the venue and began shouting Sorba down. Presently it became apparent that there was no point in continuing the talk. The incident resulted in claims of fascism by pro-family groups Americans for Truth and Mass Resistance, and convoluted First Amendment interpretations on the part of the activists’ bellowing spokeslesbians.
The American Psychiatric Association had (notice how the word “had” keeps coming up?) scheduled its annual meeting for May 3-8 in Washington, DC. A symposium was planned called “Homosexuality and Therapy: The Religion Dimension,” that was to address homosexuality, self-described ex-gays and religion from a psychiatric perspective.
“The hype that has come with all of the media attention is to the point that it is becoming the proverbial circus, making it very difficult to achieve the goal of the symposium which was to open up dialogue, to share our views, to see where we are; treating each other with respect and looking for where there is common ground.”
- David Scasta, MD, APA member and past president of the Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists (AGLP)
The event wound up being cancelled. In an April 30 piece, the gay newspaper Washington Blade came out against the panel. That was just the beginning of what resulted in Dr. Scasta’s “proverbial circus,” the activists’ objective in the first place. The APA finally caved due to these protestations. Gay activists ostensibly objected to the views of some of the symposium’s scheduled participants and claimed that it might be perceived as supporting homophobic views. This despite the fact that the event had been organized by a gay APA member.
The bottom line was that activists did not want the idea that homosexuals can or do change their sexual orientation discussed – period.
For the record, as this columnist has asserted many times: Homosexuality is not the issue here. The issue is the “gay” political agenda, which (like that of many special interest groups) has long been tainted by the far Left affiliation of its principals. Again, as the Reverend Jeremiah Wright does not represent the majority of black Christians, these activists do not represent most gays. Ultimately, their goals have far more concern for advancing far Left social engineering in general than the social status of homosexuals.
Heaven help the one who criticizes them however; they are instantly branded gay-bashing homophobic Nazis who stir-fry children and small animals.
This dangerous and intolerable behavior is a manifestation of far Left standard operating procedure, which (not surprisingly, despite their take on the subject) flies in the face of traditional paradigms of free speech: The political opposition is not allowed to have an opinion. Their ability to express themselves must be curtailed by any means available. To this end, any falsehood, calumny, threat – any form of duress save physical violence [at least thus far] may be employed.
There is no far Right equivalent to the far Left activists of this variety, of which gay activists are but one faction. Conservatives at large have alienated such entities; the media, lawmakers and the public have effectively marginalized them into virtual impotence, politically-speaking.
The cancelled events cited above did not involve klansmen advocating the disenfranchisement, traumatic psychological “re-education” or the wholesale slaughter of homosexuals. Nor did some right-wing fringe group storm a gay organization’s public event and proceed to bark homopathic chants. These were scholarly, civilized events including one in which gay proponents and gays themselves had planned to participate. Activists, plagued by neuroses and using their Orwellian doctrine as justification, reacted out of stark fear and mobilized.
Also out of fear, organizers of the events and local authorities mounted either weak responses or none at all, lest the activists break out their branding irons. The women protesting Ryan Sorba should have been promptly arrested and escorted from the event; the APA should have ignored the Washington Blade and its readers, then hired seasoned, professional security as well as requesting a strong police presence during their meeting.
These fanatics and ideologues are among those special interests to whom the eventual Democrat nominee will be beholden. If elected, they and their administrations and any Supreme Court or federal judges they appoint will reside in the “free speech, unless we object” camp.
Lest we forget…

In bizarro-world, the truth is whatever they think it should be (”they” being whomever is the farthest left of the bunch).
Any evidence to the contrary is evil - a Repugnican LIE - and must be exterminated immediately!!!!!!!
