Legislator Stabs Spouse, Rival Candidate Says He Won’t Criticize Her for Her ‘Personal Habits’

“Andrew Brownson, one of the Republicans challenging Allen, said it would not be appropriate to ask or force her to resign for her ‘personal habits.’

“‘I don’t believe in that,’ said Brownson.”

According to the UPI, “Assemblywoman Francis Allen (pictured), R-Las Vegas, is accused of using a steak knife to stab Paul Maineri in the forearm…[Allen] said she stabbed her husband because he embarrassed her in front of friends…Maineri told police his wife of seven weeks refused to get help for him so he drove himself to the hospital.”

Nevertheless, Allen’s male colleagues don’t seem to be holding it against her. Joseph K. Cooper interviewed Allen’s fellow legislators and also Allen’s rival candidate in an upcoming election in his upbeat article Facing felony charge, Allen continues legislative work (5/21/08). Asked about Allen’s arrest for battery with a deadly weapon, no legislator expressed concern over the stabbing victim or even alluded to the seriousness of domestic violence.

To be fair, one can understand and appreciate the legislators’ hesitance to rush to judgment about their colleague. But I doubt if a male legislator were arrested for stabbing his wife his colleagues would be so upbeat and positive. And were a male legislator to refer to the stabbing as a “personal habit” he didn’t think should be made an issue of, one can bet there’d be a storm of feminist protest, and the legislator would be forced to make a humiliating public apology.

Another example of of double standard. When a male Maryland legislator was arrested for domestic violence, initially he wanted his wife back, but once the legal and media machine got into motion, he told more accrate version

Women should be held responsible for their own actions, just as much as men are responsible for theirs. Stabbing someone with a knife is wrong, and it is quite clear that anyone who excuses that is a feminist.

If it’s true that she stabbed him, then he would have been fully justified in knocking her sorry ass out, and I’m stunned that he didn’t. But hey, maybe it isn’t true.

What part of this woman should be in jail do people not understand. If if stabbed anyone, especially my spouse, I would be thrown under the jailhouse and rightly so!
So, why do they treat her with kid gloves?
We have to go back to real law and start holding women to the same legal standard as men are held to. If not, sooner or later, men will have to start killing women, not out of hate, but simply to stop them from killing us! We have laws to have order and safety. Those laws must enforced equally, if not the whole system becomes a mockery and people will not only laugh at it, they, like me ,will start to ignore it and live by their own stardards of right and wrong. And that could spell serious trouble, especially for women and other groups that are prone to act socially, legally and morally irresponsible. These people’s behavior will sink to the lowest common denominator and they will do whatever suits them. The problems is , decent people, who abide by rule and laws and respect the rights and lives of others, will have to get a rope and find a tall tree, just like they used to do in 19th century Texas. It will get messy and some innocent people could get hurt and the law will be pushed out. Even if the law should strainten up and start operating properyly, people won’t trust it anymore, just like I don’t trust it anymore. I follow common law and the laws of God, and for the most part have no problems with the legal system. I do not follow the states equity statues it tries to call law, because most of these “laws” are corrupt in nature and are only about controlling me and taking my money, not about protecting people, their rights and property.

Lieweary doubts it is true. According to the report, she admits it.

“…[Allen] said she stabbed her husband because he embarrassed her in front of friends…Maineri told police his wife of seven weeks refused to get help for him so he drove himself to the hospital.”

    What’s your doubt?

Bronson probably called his wife a “bitch” several years ago, or some such thing, which is far worse that a female stabbing her husband with a knife in an attempt to kill him in these times of ubiquitous misandry - all praise and glory to her most holy PC.

So he is willing to let her attempted murder and domestic violence slide because he did something far worse, gender reversal of circumstances notwithstanding.
