I would not want my children learning amidst the autistic kids. It is not fair to slow the learning process to accommodate the problematic children. I would have another perspective, if my children were autistic or plagued with any other non-social ailment. Your examples are really out of the norm. Most teachers break their collective backs to accommodate these children and others with issues like language and cultural deficiencies. Anyway, you're making it extremely difficult to retain the better teachers, at least at that level (Kindergarten). Your thoughts about patience and understanding are almost irrational...especially the challenge to teach while accommodating the needs of the special children who must jump on a trampoline to ease their angst. Wow!

Women are told from the cradle that they are 'skilled communicators', 'empathetic', 'nurturing' whathaveyou. They are told that they are 'naturally good' at 'conflict resolution'. They 'listen'.

They listen to all the ego-stroking hubris. They believe it - and so never feel the need to actually learn and develop these skills.

So they go into teaching and kindergartens at age 19 after a community college Certificate awarded by other 'naturally' expert women, with the cradle marks still on their bums and an attitude that they are perfect. Whatever they do is the right thing.

Other women believe it too and hand over their children to narcissistic bullies with an attention span barely above that of the kiddies in their charge.

And we wonder where it went wrong.
