My point (#4) is that even if the state should be separate from the orgainzed churches, that does not mean that the framers of the constitution wanted the laws to be free from bible values -- quite the opposite.

As I understand it, the constitution was based on biblical principles. Separating church and state is not the same a separating the state from the bible. Churches are organized institutions and can fail (and almost always do). The bible however is the infallible word of God. There is no comparison.

Before I was a Christian I was an athiest. Even then I thought abortion was murder. So for me it's not really about religion but biology. The oft-repeated but inept argument about a womans right to her own body holds no water since ANY doctor or biologist KNOWS a fertilized egg is a separate organism.

Well said Chris, a truly Great paragraph and excellent article. An additional note; if we as a society continue to allow legal abortion, we open the door to the degradation of all human life. As the value of some human life (unborn babies) falls, eventually the value of all human life falls. Therefore, your life (a collective your) will be subject to the whims of the authorities and the powerful, and all and anything can be justified under the concept that some human life has more value than others.

Abortion is murder, and murder of the least powerful and most innocent. It is fair to call abortion the vilest act ever perpetrated against mankind.

What an outstanding paragraph, Chris, succinctly cutting through to the issue. It bears repeating - even framing and hanging on the wall.

"Human existence contains only two defining instants, which are conception and death. And this is not a matter of “religion” but of biology. All other milestones, no matter how dramatically recognized in society, amount to transitional phases in the human life cycle. So despite all of the grandiose but empty oratory, any individual who does not advocate the defense of all innocent human life between those two landmarks is an individual who holds no regard for the sanctity of human life on the whole."
