Records show Judge scolded Palin family members over “disparagement of the father”

Nine days ago, we explored whether Governor Sarah Palin had knowingly made false accusations against Alaskan State Trooper Mike Wooten, who was in a bitter custody battle with Governor Palin’s sister, Molly McCann. Based on the public records available by internet, our conclusion was that we couldn’t reach a conclusion.

Naturally, we were attacked from both sides, both Democrats and Republicans, as if we had a partisan agenda, which we do not.

A new story in Newsweek sheds unfavorable light on the actions of Governor Palin.

Court records show that Judge John Suddock was concerned about persistent attacks on Trooper Wooten by Palin and members of her family. The Judge told them in October, 2005 (when Palin was still a private citizen), “Disparaging will not be tolerated—it is a form of child abuse.”

According to Newsweek, Judge Suddock “continued to express concern about attacks by Palin’s family on Wooten” in an order signed January 31, 2006. The Judge was sufficiently concerned about the on-going attacks that he warned of a possible change in custody from mother to father if the attacks continued. He wrote, “if the court finds it is necessary due to disparagement…it [the court] will not hesitate to order custody to the father…” The Judge’s order also said that he would pay special attention to “the disparagement of the father by the mother and her family members.”

Governor Palin and her husband Todd continued to attack Wooten’s character even after she became Governor. Court tapes have Judge Suddock saying, “It appears for the world that Ms. McCann and her family have decided to take off for the guy’s livelihood—that the bitterness of whatever who did what to whom has overridden good judgment.”

Also, John Cyr, the Head of the Public Safety Employee’s Association in Alaska has been quoted as saying, “I made the case that I thought they [a string of complaints against Wooten] were groundless, that the Department was involving itself in a personal matter. She [Col. Julia Grimes, the head of the State Troopers] asked me if I wanted to call Sarah Palin a liar publicly and I said sure, I’ll have a press conference; I don’t mind telling people what I believe to be true.”

In summary, we still do not know whether Governor Palin knowingly made false accusations against Trooper Wooten. But it is clear that she and her family persistently attacked the Trooper’s reputation over a period of at least three years, during which the Alaska State Troopers, the Alaska Public Safety Employee’s Association, and the Court had all found that most of the accusations were unsupported.

Please keep in mind that Fathers & Families is resolutely non-partisan. We are reporting the facts to the best of our ability. We are neither for nor against Governor Palin’s candidacy. And remember that one week ago, we posted a column entitled “Biden Selection is Bad News for America’s Fathers.”

Newsweek is not a credible source. Reading a Newsweek article is not investigation. Relying on information from Newsweek does not actually clarify the situation. Objectively, it provides no insight. Repeating Newsweek spin with no relity check merely muddies the discussion.

It should also be clear that the he-said, she-said accusations in this personal family matter are unrelated to national family policy and where Sarah Palin stands on the issues.

Roger is right, Doc. Listening to what Wooten says about anything “don’t learn you much of nothin’”. There’s likely to be a little spinning going on. I rarely try to make my enemies look good, and neither do you.

Wooten could be a great guy getting hammered or he could be the jerk he’s being made out to be. For that matter, that applies to Judge Suddock too. For all we know, he’s Wooten’s best bud (in a place with a small population, pretty much cut off from outsiders, they could even be related). Newsweek is about as reliable as the “newspaper of record”.

Call me crazy, but I’d rather vote for someone who may have used her office to help her sister, with no possibility of financial gain, than someone who used his office to help Tony “The Pro” Rezko for financial and political gain.

I would much rather vote for a “Hockey Mom” who fought her way to the Governorship of Alaska, than a Harvard Graduate whose close friend and confidante is an unrepentant terrorist.

I guess I’m just funny that way.

The most important issue this election is abortion, whether or not, the “mainstream media” says it is. This is the most important election … EVER … to reverse the tide that Roe v Wade set into motion.

Well its all a bunch of he said, she said. It is really a personal matter. Divorces are very emotional, and it is natural to want to take the side of your family members. In simple terms if she did not use her office to interfer, then is a public concern. There is no credible evidence that has happened!
Now politicians and Sara Palin, not withstanding are going to have to be put on notice. The fathers/mens rights movement is now big enough to kick you out of that ” cushy little job” you have, if you do not support reform of this government sponsored kidnapping and extortion racket that atempts to pass itself off as a family law system. This patent discrimination against fathers/men and the violation of our basic rights is going to stop. You will pass and then enforce joint physical/legal custody as a national standard. You will “clean up” or completely get rid of the slavery racket that is the child support system. You will come down hard on the “government thugs” that have violated the rights of fathers/men. You will put them in jail and make them civilly liable. Women will be made to understand, that if you wreck the family for purely selfish reasons, you will pay the price, not the man who did nothing wrong. In short, you will get rid of this God awful racket or will get rid of you!

    Hey squigg. Hows it hangin’?

    Agreed.

One might as well cite Dan Rather.

    Note that:
“The Judge told them in October, 2005 (when Palin was still a private citizen)”

So, this went on for some time.

Now I may be a bit off kilter. Or maybe I’ve seen enough stupidity on the part of judges. (And I’ve seen plenty)

    This statement from the judge:

“Disparaging will not be tolerated—it is a form of child abuse.”

would be enough to make me run for Governor myself just so I could try to boot his sorry ass off the bench.

Looks like if Palin was doing what her accusers claim, she was doing exactly the right thing.
