---“In 2004, the presidential race between Democrat Al Gore and Republican George W. Bush was decided by a few hundred votes in Florida.”

I’m sure that was a typo, nonetheless it was 2000 not 2004. The election in 2004 was won in Ohio by, (I believe it was 40,000 votes) a narrow margin as well.

You make a good point when it comes to illegal aliens voting.

But, I think someone who has served his/her sentence for a crime should be restored full citizenship. They’ve paid their debt to society and should be restored their full inalienable rights. If the crime was so heinous that it warrants revoking the rights of citizenship then maybe the death penalty was warranted to begin with.

Also, let’s not forget that innocent men and women are very frequently convicted of crimes they had no part in. Often unscrupulous law enforcement personnel are responsible for these “mistakes” and are not held accountable. They pursue a conviction based on the testimony of “jailhouse snitches” and a whole host of other unreliable sources, just to get a conviction. Being a cop yourself, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about.

They’ve made trying to see your children, or falling behind in child support a felony in some states, and I don’t think anyone in their right mind wants to deny citizens their right to vote because of idiots violating the Constitution when they pass laws. I think it should be a felony to pass any law, which on its face, violates the constitutionally protected rights of American Citizens. If that were the case, we would have a lot less encroachment on our freedoms.

Maybe, before any law can be enacted, it should have to pass the scrutiny of the Supreme Court before it becomes law, instead of the other way around. But then again, that would just mean a lot less business for our courts, and that’s not a very good idea, if that’s the way you extract your living. Law enforcement is more about creating a permanent underclass of people they can exploit for a living at taxpayer expense, than it is about protecting our citizens from criminals.

Nowadays, there are just as many criminals wearing black robes, and sporting badges, as there are of any other variety.

Maybe someday they’ll lose their “rights”.

These liberals are swine. When I lived in Manhattan, 35 years ago, I complained when the local Democrat party leader was pulling the lever over 200 times in a Democratic primary, while we all waited. The excuse was he was voting for all the senior citizens who were unable to come out to vote. The morons waiting beside me were afraid to say anything because they feared what the NYT would say. The Police who were present also feared acting. The morons were morons.
