In mid-September, N.O.W. President Kim Gandy announced the organization’s PAC endorsement of Barack Obama. The old misrepresentation as an organization representing all women everywhere has been replaced by somewhat more subtle image maintenance.
It is no coincidence that I am joined in this announcement by so many allied organizations that collectively represent a broad and diverse cross-section of U.S. women. From teachers to social workers, from business owners to college students, women in this country are lining up behind the candidate who is out there every day standing up — clearly and consistently — for women. Women of all ages, races and ethnicities are coming together in support of Sen. Obama and his pledge to fulfill this country’s promise of equal opportunity for our daughters as well as all our sons.
It is of course quite unlikely that women who are not “out there every day,†“clearly and consistently†dedicating themselves to the destruction of mankind are lining up behind N.O.W.
N.O.W. gained traction in the 1960s and 1970s during the abortion wars. It became a media darling, getting more attention than Joe the Plumber. It was a time when television news journalists knew the camera angles needed to make a small gathering look like a huge demonstration and the public was a little more naive. With Roe v. Wade in the harbor in 1973, attention turned to the failed “Equal Rights Amendment,†an entirely unnecessary proposal to change the Constitution that could potentially have caused great harm to women. It nonetheless created an extremely emotionally charged long-lasting national debate that heightened the Gender War.
During this same period, it became clear they had been joined by homosexual activists with their own agenda and elements of the extreme left. Hatred of men, hatred of mankind, hatred of marriage and family, hatred of married people, hatred of religion, hatred of western civilization generally – hatred generally became the overwhelming and openly public character of the feminist movement. All men are evil. All women are victims. All heterosexual activity is rape. debuted in the public mind and infected the young.
During the 1980s and 1990s, the nation seemed worn down by the culture wars and the Gender War in particular. Faced with continued media support for radical feminism and no organized opposition, politicians fell in line. They almost literally became a separate and independent branch of the federal government, designing new federal programs that pull billions of dollars annually. The corruption related to these programs has changed the nation’s character with a very negative impact on fundamental human rights. Financially enabled, N.O.W. continues the work systematically and effectively.
In 1997, NOW’s Political Action Committees (PACs) launched the Victory 2000 – The Feminization of Politics campaign with the aim of electing 2,000 feminist candidates at all levels of political office by the year 2000. source
Barbara Boxer and Carol Moseley-Braun are among the U.S. Senators thankful for N.O.W.’s help and guidance. Yes, we may have N.O.W. partially to thank for the recent collapse of the banking industry among other historic nation-destroying events.
