The reliability of a magazine is in large part dependent on what percentage of its maximum capacity is contained when the magazine is stored.
A magazine that holds 9, and contains 9, will have its spring "sack" and fail to feed sooner than a magazine that holds 9, and contains 8.

This debate's been going on since 1885, when the clip was invented. Technically, a magazine is the part of the gun which holds the ammo. Rifles indisputably use clips to feed the magazine, because the magazine is integral to the firearm and can be loaded by hand. Some call the detachable part that holds ammo in a pistol a clip because it's not an integral part of the gun, while others call it a magazine because it holds the ammo.

A good primer for those that know little about guns, however there were two errors. "A semi-auto takes ammunition from a spring-loaded clip that may lose strength when compressed for a very long time, which could cause the gun to jam." A semiauto takes ammunition from a spring loaded magazine. It's been proven over and over that leaving the magazine loaded for even as long as twenty plus years does nothing to reduce the reliability of the magazine. Other than those two common errors its a very good primer.
